  • My son gave me one for Christmas. I had admitted to him that I'd gotten into the bad habit of not logging my weight if I didn't like the number I saw. The Aria has broken me of that because now I have to go in and deliberately delete the entry. Unfortunately, while it pretty much agrees with my old scale on how much I…
  • Look on the exercise page in MFP and click on the little 'i' next to the Fitbit Calorie Adjustment. That will show you the math that MFP is using to calculate the adjustment and the time of the last sync between Fitbit and MFP. A large negative adjustment generally means that either 1) things haven't synced all day, so MFP…
  • It depends. I'm guessing your Fitbit isn't one of the models with a heart rate monitor. In that case, I'd say definitely use the Fitbit number. If you have a separate heart rate monitor, use that to get the calories burned. However, your Fitbit is likely giving you more calorie burn for your treadmill workout than it does…
  • There was an update to the "Fitbit Connect" software that does syncing, so that is probably what was "reinstalling" on your computer. From the message I saw when it wanted to install on mine, it doesn't appear to be a major update, just minor bug fixes and the like.
  • It never corrects previous days. Any changes to a previous day must be made manually.
  • That's odd. When I look at the detail of the Fitbit Calorie Adjustment it always says something like "(Based on 950 calories burned as of 11:39 am.)" underneath "Fitbit Calories Burned".
  • On occasion, I've gotten spurious meal summary entries showing up in Fitbit from MFP. I go into my diary on MFP and note the actual calorie count of the meal. Then I go onto Fitbit's Food Log page and delete all but the one that matches the correct calories.
  • Make sure that on your MFP phone app, under Steps, that the selected device is Fitbit.
  • Sounds like you need to contact Fitbit customer support. Occasionally people have reported something like this and I believe Fitbit has generally been good about replacing the device.
  • Have you read the FAQ found in the stickies? Here's a handy link: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 The reason I ask, is that your question doesn't make a lot of sense. Where did you see the number "+242"? What was it…
  • I'd look at the math being used for each of the adjustments (click on the little 'i') and delete the extra ones that aren't the most current. One caveat, though. On occasion I've seen multiple entries for a workout on my Fitbit phone app and made the mistake of deleting what looked like the extra and ended up deleting the…
  • It's definitely spam. If I were motivated, I'd go in and flag each thread. Instead, I think I'll go to bed and trust the folks at MFP to clean it up.
  • I suppose I would get used to it too, if I really valued the features. However, getting used to wearing anything on my wrist was enough of an adjustment at the time. I hadn't worn a watch in many, many years and I'm hyper-sensitive to a lot of sensations. (My husband sometimes references "The Princess and the Pea" and...…
  • Style aside, there's the size of the thing. I don't give a rip about fashion, so I don't mind how the Charge HR looks on my wrist (although I did like that I could get it in plum, I would have settled for black). However, I ruled out a Surge partly because it was just. so. huge. (It was also more expensive and I didn't…
  • Yay! It's working again. Yes, awidicus, you got unlucky and tried to get started right in the middle of an MFP software problem. They happen occasionally, but not often enough for me to give up on using MFP and Fitbit together.
  • Did you read the FAQ? If not, read it. If you did, read it again (it's pretty dense with information). Here's a handy link: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 Short answer for before you read the FAQ. Go to the exercise…
  • Not true. These sort of outages have cropped up from time to time since I got my first Fitbit over 2 years ago (and probably before). However, this is the first time I've seen them turn off sync for everyone. In the past, some lucky people continued to sync normally and others couldn't. I don't know if they turned it off…
  • When MFP and Fitbit aren't syncing, I find it easiest to look at MFP to see how many calories I've eaten and then subtract that from what Fitbit thinks I've burned. Not ideal, but it gives me a rough idea of how much I have left to eat. If I wanted to be a little more accurate, I could add in my BMR for the rest of the…
  • I recommend you read the FAQ found in the stickies. It will explain a lot. Here's a handy link: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10098937/faq-syncing-logging-food-exercise-calorie-adjustments-activity-levels-accuracy/p1 I let Fitbit handle all of my exercise and MFP handle all of my food. You have to do…
  • Nobody is syncing right now. Here's the message from MFP: Fitbit Sync Delay Tuesday, January 5, 2016, 11:22am PST Hello everybody, Starting on 1/4, we began seeing a large backlog with our Fitbit sync requests. This resulted in delayed sync times for Fitbit steps, calorie adjustments, exercises, etc. Most of the backlog…
  • Holding leashes is not a problem. Your wrist is not "insulated" from the acceleration of your steps like it is when holding onto a shopping cart. If you really want to, you can switch it to your other wrist, but your arm does NOT need to swing in order for steps to be counted. Go ahead and trust your Fitbit when it comes…
  • When this happens (MFP acknowledges a syncing backlog), there is nothing to do but wait. A couple of times in the past, when my food has been syncing from MFP to Fitbit, but calories burned haven't been going the other way, I've fallen back on using Fitbit to help me decide how much I should eat, even though I prefer MFP…
  • For those new to the Fitbit/MFP universe - this happens occasionally. When it does, not everyone is affected, but if you are it is supremely frustrating. If they've posted an announcement about it (as they have today) then there's really nothing you can do but wait. With all the new Fitbits that people received for…
  • Yes. Fitbit for exercise (I log all exercise in Fitbit, as it is thought to do better estimates than MFP) and MFP for food and calories remaining. For more, read the FAQ found in the stickies. Here's a handy link:…
  • I use MFP to decide how much to eat and use Fitbit to track exercise. Fitbit's calories burned estimate adjusts my MFP calorie allotment. I ignore the Fitbit calories remaining (although, if I look at the previous day, MFP and Fitbit match pretty closely), and especially never worry about being "in the zone". I've removed…
  • Some additional troubleshooting notes: Have you looked at your MFP Exercise log page (Diary in the phone app) and checked to see if there is a Fitbit Calorie Adjustment entry? If not, then your accounts aren't syncing properly. If it is there, then check the math that MFP is using to calculate your adjustment (click the…
  • I wear mine 24/7 except when showering, soaking in the hot tub, charging it, and <ahem> certain other activities where it would be distracting. Go ahead and wear it when doing things like ab workouts and weights, unless it gets in the way. However, you will probably still want to log those workouts manually in Fitbit…
  • When all else fails, contact customer support? Mind you, you'll almost certainly get their canned answer to start (i.e. the stuff you've already tried), but maybe you can keep going from there until you get someone who can actually help. I'd start with MFP customer support, since it sounds like everything is fine on the…
  • It's designed to be worn on the wrist. If you have a good reason to not wear it on your wrist (not allowed at work, for instance) then you can perhaps wear it on your ankle, taking reassurance from the fact that some people have experimented with wearing it on their ankle and said it seems reasonably accurate. However,…
  • I do wonder if they were trying to get the new auto-detect feature out before Christmas. It isn't a big problem for me, so I just figure they'll fix it when they fix it and in the meantime, I'll push the button or use the mapping function.
