• But isn't it worse to have too much sugar? It's a different problem - if I had to "quit" protein, I would be miserable, but I never binge on protein. I eat it because it makes me feel full and I like it. On the other hand, I do know that sugar is horrible for me, and yet I still eat it. So maybe the "too much protein" - if…
• so just out of curiosity, when you say you did a low-carb diet, why couldn't you eat protein?
I gained almost 10 pounds on low carb, so I had to play around with the macros. Some people had success with really low protein, so I gave that a try. I gave everything a try on low carb - except low calorie + low carb.…
• Onelast question - if this thread is still somewhat alive. What would be "too much protein" for someone like me? Female, 52, 5'5'', about 130 (don't weigh myself very often anymore), active?
• I don't think I ever went above 200. Some people eat a lot less protein to lose weight. When I was on low carb, I tried and was miserable. No carb, no protein, I was left with butter only. Very sad. So I'm hoping that my kidneys, liver & the rest of my organs continue to cooperate.
• rosebette No, the meal itsel was so within the limits I have chosen for myself. It's the after-the-meal stuff... Maybe I should experiment with sugar - I mean a bag of sugar. Put 40 tablespoons of sugar in water, drink it and see what happens. Just worried it would be a total waste of a binge, though. "A lot of…
• Thanks for the answers! I do feel better when I eat back at least some of those calories. I'll just have to wait & see what kind of results I can get that way.
• If it's under 200 calories and has 20 g of protein, then I like it, no matter how it tastes.
• mamaklute, if you were able to burn 700 calories per workout, you're a pretty tough cookie. Yoga would make me faint from boredom, but I suppose one could get used to it. Life's so weird anyhow, and we all adjust to so many changes. I can't even recognize myself on old pictures. Who knows, you might end up liking the new…
• Thanks for the replies. I've been continuing to play around with the exercice calories, and noticed that they are exactly like the rest of me : totally not reliable when it comes to food. By that, I mean that if I overreat slightly, I'll just add more exercice calories, regarless of what MFP says - usually the calorie…
• Wow, I could have written that post. If I had eaten the same way, say, 10 years ago, I would have been a stick. Now I gain with half the amount I used to scarf down. Hunger, frustration, feeling of hey this is so unfair...
• Wow, I did not know that starting a new exercice routine could cause water retention. I thought it was going to be the opposite. Thanks for your response!
• Depending on your resting heart rate, how about doing very few reps of light weights while watching TV? Working out doesn't have to be cardio. Another member suggested yoga. It's still not like working out, but at least you would be more active.
•
They don't. On their current program, people average over 1800 calories a day.
That way too high. I had success on it years ago, and wanted to try it again after Atkins & menopause scare. I gained, and I was following it as accuratly as I could. Too many apples!
• Not sure I'm replying at the right spot. Re : keeping my diary private. I'm new to the message board, and I post the thought of the day - but yes, I overeat, and I undereat, and I have real funky meal days. When I look back at my own diary, I confuse myself sometimes. But I have to say, I do find it helpful to view other…
• I'd like to lose about 5 pounds. I'm 51 though - really tougher than when I was younger. I was tough then - it's brutal now. Will be horrible in about 10 years. Will survive on lettuce only, I assume.
• I't too low, but if I go higher, I gain. I'm 51! Just counted my exercice points today - made me overeat by 500 calories. Not good.
• I tried low carb for a year and gained 8 pounds. However, I absolutely loved eating that way. If my body could have handled the heart palpitations and if my vanity had been OK with the weight gain, I'd still be eating low carb. I tried so hard for so long, playing with my macros... But I'm 51, so maybe it was just a…
