I'm just into month 4. Had a huge leap on the scale this morning - logically I know it's period bloat (seriously start and be over already!) plus indulgent dinner last night so trying to keep my emotional brain in check - but that bish just wants to freak out haha! Thanks for the pep talk though, much appreciated :)

I've just been lurking on this thread, but knowing it's not just me who feels this right now has given me a little mental boost. I'm on my first ever bulk and my period is due and I wanted to cry when I looked in the mirror last night. But you're right. Just gotta trust the process and hold on until end of March.

I can't eat early either and I'm up and out of the house by 6am to get to the gym for lifting. I just make sure to have a proper breakfast once I get into the office

I actually do say perambulate when I'm talking about walks and my dog is in earshot - it's so he doesn't get overexcited! :D Sodium I think a lot of the time it's because that's how it's measured on here. And yes, carbs make you seriously retain water too, but when you overindulge on carbs you're often taking in a lot of…

I don't think I agree with this. I have been referred to as "naturally slim" all my life and I LOVE food. I do not just eat to live. I think about food constantly because I love food, I love eating, I love cooking and I love the social aspect of eating. My boyfriend and I went out for dinner last night and I spent the day…

Firstly, I'm really pleased to hear that you're in therapy with someone you feel you can trust. I know how important it was for me going through therapy to have someone I could properly talk to. Now, if you feel that weighing yourself/weighing your food/counting calories are triggers for you, then quite simply don't do it.…

Yes Rabbit, I needed this post! Thank you for giving me the inspiration/kick up the butt I needed to get back in the gym this weekend after being disease-ridden with flu the last couple of weeks :# now where did I put that barbell...

FWIW - I have a history of binge/purge cycles so can be very (read extremely) obsessive when it comes to food. I have found that using a scale actually helps me to keep a healthy approach to my eating. I feel in control as I know exactly what I'm having and don't panic about eating too much and if I give myself a…

^This. I am obsessed with colourful workout gear. I have so many leggings with crazy prints, and they're all from places like Sweaty Betty, Nike, Under Armour etc. so do what they're supposed to do. I don't know if that makes them more motivating, but when I get up at 5am to get the gym they do make me smile at least

I use Happy Scale. Pretty sure they have a version for Android

Do you have a microwave at work? I'm an omnivore but love a veggie lunch every now and then. At the weekend I made my own cream of tomato soup and ratatouille which are seeing me through the beginning of the week. Then I'm looking at making a lentil dahl for the rest of the week. I like hot lunch

It's such a struggle at the moment. And my deficit is tiny which is depressing *le sigh* Think I will give this a go and see if that helps. It's always worth playing around to find out what works.
-
Oh good, it's not just me then

Huh, that's interesting. I have it on Kindle for iPad and I don't find the format difficult at all. Clearly a preference thing! The index is helpful for sure. Oh yes, of course, I'm speaking from the perspective of recomping. Sorry, I should have mentioned about not being able to build muscle in a deficit - I was just…

Have a look into the book "Strong Curves", it's a weights based programme deliberately designed to help you get those curves
-
@PinkPixiexox I personally love Stronglifts 5 x 5, I've found it incredibly effective and it gets me in and out of the gym fairly speedily in the mornings before work. I think to be honest I'm pretty much in maintenance because I'm really struggling to stick to my calorie deficit at the moment, but by doing Stronglifts 2-3…

^^^All of this

I did it conservatively because I wasn't sure how long your workouts were. If you're getting 1900 in Scooby then you're most likely giving yourself higher activity than I gave you...so win! Even on a conservative estimate eating 1500cals leaves you with a 200cal deficit. I think now, go back and re-read what others have…

Give this a whirl: http://scoobysworkshop.com/accurate-calorie-calculator/ I plugged in your rough numbers (1-3hours light exercise a week) and got that your TDEE is about 1700. 1500 is absolutely fine, especially when you're on your last 8lbs and looking to transition into maintenance.

This thread is so full of awesome, I get a little over-excited every time I go back to it: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1 I was a cardio bunny too but have gone completely over to weight training. I'm sure more experienced members will be along…

^^^This. I'm really pleased to read that you know you need to get some professional help with this. Finding a treatment team who you can trust is really important, and I'm really sorry you felt that you weren't given the support you needed previously. I'm not familiar with the situation and what is available in the US, but…

I've been discharged for a while too but if ever I feel like I'm struggling/slipping I give the lovely people at BEAT a call (I'm assuming you're in the UK from your OP) https://www.b-eat.co.uk/support-services/helpline Rather than dieting I have started recomping and I really think it's the way to go for those of us who…

*gasp* You loathe the Eagles?! Explain yourself immediately! ;) As others have said if you want to not drink/have only one just do that. I know on nights where I turn up to meet friends and I say I'm just having one they shrug and accept it. Are you sure they're really giving you that look or is it just you worrying about…

This. This this this! As someone who likes control maybe a little too much, reading over and over again on these forums about moderation was a true penny dropping moment for me. It has lead to a far healthier attitude towards food, which is something I have struggled with for a long time.

Give this thread a read, it's really helpful for those of us looking to maintain but build muscle. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10177803/recomposition-maintaining-weight-while-losing-fat/p1

I can gain up to 5lbs the week before which tends to stay with me until the week after. The first time it happened I totally freaked, but meh, I've realised that it's apparently just what my body does. I now just don't weigh in the week before or during as I just know it's going to be a weird fluctuation. I get back to it…

This is actually true - 9 months is not a long time to be on antidepressants. For recurrent episodes you can be kept on them for 2-5years (at least) and some experts argue that some people will need to be on them their whole life. Going back on topic - OP, some antidepressants can either suppress or increase your appetite…

There's a lot more if you search 'nutrition and immunity' on google scholar. It's definitely worth looking into.
-
Beat me to it. Nutrition and immunity are most definitely linked, there's years of studies supporting that. Yes, maybe everyone was going down with the virus but a compromised immune system from a low calorie diet would most likely have made a person more susceptible.

Just putting it out there that when I was eating 1000 calories a day the NHS considered me to have an eating disorder. Obviously there is far more to an ED, but what I am trying to highlight is that as a woman 1000 cals a day was considered by my health team as being far too low. For a man it most definitely is VLCD. I've…
