This thread is almost 8 months old, and that is AWESOME! Not sure who said it but, "Success is not a result of spontaneous combustion. You must set yourself on fire!"

Today's workout my Polar FT4 showed 692 calories burned in 54 minutes of cardio intervals. The RunKeeper app shows 551 calories burned. Not sure on the math to figure the % out. But looking back on my workout files it has been up to 200 calories off. But I also have the Run Keeper app set to "other" and not running, which…

RunKeeper is what I use. I have an HTC Incredible. Works great. Just got to give the app a few moments to pick up the GPS. You can program your own workouts in it and it will give you audio cues. The calories burned it gives is a rough estimate at best but I use a HRM for cals burned.

Depends on your goals. If you are trying to build more muscle and doing weight training then you need more protein. But MFP does set the goal pretty low either way

ditto on the doctor. It could be breathing tech. I found myself getting side craps easily when I took up jogging and after researching I found it wad breathing technique. Here is a link with lots of good info http://running.about.com/od/howtorun/ht/deepbellybreathing.htm

My mom used to marinade cucumber slices in lime juice and the eat them with a little bit of salt. tasty

I use the Polar FT4. Easy to set up, easy to use.

MFP give estimates of Cals burned. It could be more or it could be less. How many you burned depends on how hard your heart worked during the activity. I would recommend a good heart rate monitor with a chest strap to measure your calories burned during exercise. Of coarse they can be wrong at times too. And they aren't…

true Story. You body will burn fat pretty much from random places. All you can do is tone up what is below the fat. Eventually your body will burn off the belly fat. But you can't control when. Just keep pushing and working hard!

invest in your health and get a pair of good running shoes. Make sure you get shoes that are right for your foot type. A decent pair will cost you around $60 to $80
-
you should take in at least 1200 cals a day. Eating less can actually make you gain weight because your body will start storing fat because it thinks you are starving.

LOL Exactly!

Peanut butter is great snack. typical serving of 1 tablespoon is around 100 calories and it is high in protein. I eat some before I workout.

I don't eat my extra calories from exercise. Or at least not all of them. Go workout if you are feeling it!

I jog around my neighborhood for free. I also have a garage with enough equipment to not need a gym. You would be amazed at how cheap you can find weights and other equipment on Craigslist. I think I have invested less than $400 into my garage. I have a workout bench with a rack for bench press or squats, an Olympic size…

My cats must the exception to that rule. I have two bearded dragons, and one of my cats has slept in their tank off an on since she was a kitten, and I have 8 birds that the cats never mess with. Impressive since the birds and cats share our back room and the birds aren't caged.

I start every workout with the Theme to Rocky! (Gotta Fly Now) But other than that my playlist usually has: Deftones Fair to Midland Slipknot NonPoint Jay Z (the Grey Album or Collision Course) Bassnectar Chevelle GlassJaw Rage Against the Machine Rammstein NIN Coheed & Cambria Put on the headphones and crank it!

MFP just gives you an estimate. I use a heart rate monitor and have never gotten the same calories burned twice. Every time you workout you do it differently. Your intensity changes from one session to the next. And as you drop weight you have to work harder to burn the same amount of calories as before (i think) Also you…

LoL. Lets just agree that we are both Central Tex!

you can just copy paste this into web browser http://i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z323/shawnab1026/weightloss2.jpg And, big difference. Keep it UP!

your cals burned can vary depending on your heart rate. Are you using a Heart rate monitor?

<--- self proclaimed Humanist. Only surprising because I live in a very conservative state/city

Mine is the same. I topped the scale at 245lbs. Haven't seen 180 since high school.

My biggest change, well there have been a lot, but I'm no longer drinking most of my calories. I drink mostly water now. Drinking water when I eat was a tough to adjust to. . And I found healthier snacks like raw fruits, laughing cow cheese, and nuts.

The purpose of life is not to live forever, but to live fully and exponentially into love.

Agreed! Knowing how many calories I burned definitely gives a little more motivation to push harder.
