The government standard is take 220 and sub your age to find your max heart rate, which would be 167 bpm for you, if you are trying to lose weight you should shoot for 70% -80% of your max HR. (I think) 116 - 133 for you. There are other ways to figure out your max heart rate and target zones. This one is the simplest I…

Guess that is a no. Check it out. It is free program offered on Men's Health website

Download the app for Android of iPhone. It is awesome

Weird, my wife would say the same about me!

weight training burns lots of calories. Men's Health website has programs you can follow. I like their Belly Off! Dumbbell Blast workouts. You have to start and account to access them, but it is free to do so.

gotta start every workout with the theme from Rocky aka Gonna Fly Now

I don't work out in a gym because I have equipment in my garage and I walk and jog around the neighborhood. That being said, I use my phone when I work out. I use it as my MP3 player or to stream Pandora while I work out and when jogging. When I walk or jog it also runs the Run Keeper app that tracks my distance, pace, via…

I use it. It is one of the better apps for tracking cardio. You can export to the website to track progress. Also handy Map feature shows your route. Plus it will give you an estimate of calories burned based on the activity you choose and your pace. Also has audio cues that tell you how long you have been going, pace, and…

I exercise to music I like. For me it is Deftones, Fair to Midland and Nonpoint just to name a few. I'm sure I read somewhere that people that workout listening to their favorite music worked out harder and longer than those who didn't listen to music. So whatever it is you like to listen to, go with that.

You may want to check and see if there is a Crossfit near you. They have a website you can check out that does include workout plans on the site.

I see lots of people post about how they are starting whatever exercise program like p90x or Zumba or what have you. And then after a few days they are posting about how hard it is and how it sucks and they give up. I don't feel bad for them. Losing weight sucks, and working out is painful. I keep MFP to myself when it…

Very interesting. I knew the part about leaving it in your garage. On another interesting note, have you ever put coke on a car battery with corrosion on the terminals? try it. It will eat away the battery corrosion in seconds. and to think we put that in our bodies!

If you are exercising and eating better it is very likely that you have lost fat and replaced it with muscle weight. You could try taking a picture of yourself once a week when you weigh in to help you see the changes. Sometimes it is hard to see past our own self perception to see how we really look. I have done the…

A workout partner is helpful. it is also helpful if they aren't like your best friend. The logic is, that if the person you workout with will push you and hold you accountable, and you do the same for them. Weight training is a great way to burn calories. You can burn more in an hour of solid weight training than you could…

Moderation is what you need to go for. It is okay to have a soda with dinner or lunch. It is probably a bad idea to drink soda throughout the day.

I have one and don't use it. I either put the effort into firing up the grill or I cook my chicken in the oven. But that is just one man's opinion. Lots of people own the Foreman and love it.

You will certainly find lots of people to support and motivate you here.

You will find a lot of people here that are very supportive. We all have the common goal of wanting to be healthier. If you have a smartphone I highly recommend the My Fitness Pal app. It is free, and really helps you keep up with your food. For me it serves as a nice reminder to eat healthy and it is good to look up how…

Myself I find it hard to go a day without some sort of caffeinated drink, so I too switched to either the Zero calorie type for soda (or pop as you call it). Or low carb, zero calorie energy drinks. And increased the amount of water I drink. I was going to start drinking juice instead, but was surprised at how many…

RunKeeper is great if you are going to run, bike, walk or just about any other cardio. And of coarse MyFitnessPal!
-
It is either pills or some sort of liquid form. Basically it cleans your digestive system of all the stuff that has accumulated over time.

Unfortunately I've had a bad food start for the day. I planned on eating oatmeal for breakfast, but that didn't happen. My daughter wanted a donut and I gave in and took her to the donut shop. And I gave in to my bad habits and ate a donut and a kolache, and washed it down with a soda. But just gonna have to do better for…

Whatever works for your schedule is the way to go.I've found that working out in the morning gets you energized for the rest of the day. And if you work out too late you may have trouble going to sleep because your body is so stimulated from the workout. A good workout seems to gives you a positive vibe for the rest of the…

If you are working with a licensed personal trainer I would go with what he/she says and change the MFP app to 1200 goal. You trainer probably set you goal at 1200 so you can see results fast. But when in doubt, ask questions, you trainer should be able to address your concerns. Good luck with your Goals!!!
