My doctor told me that BMI is total BS and most people in the medical community feel the same. If you go by BMI I am still 15-20 pounds over weight so judge for your self. As far as you go , I dont see you being over weight by your pic, I agree with the others who say body fat % is the way to go

I try to be supportive but I have to agree with this. I run a lot and when I run I either lose weight or maintain but I continually log because when I run especially long runs I tend to get very hungry so if I am not careful I can eat way too much. You dont gain weight unless you are eating too much, only exception would…

There are a million things you can do but the fact is eating a good diet and a mixture of cardio and strength training is what it will take and if you are like me the ab area will be the last to show the results you want but once you start to see them its awesome and makes all that work worth it. Me personally I run, do…

Sounds like you are ready to go, slow and steady to start. I would recommend c25k progran as well. As someone else said you have to push yourself but not too much where you hurt yourself. Running is a progression sport no matter who you are when you start but you will be amazed what it does for you, its also as much mental…

Thats an awesome job, from someone who just started running 3 years ago myself I know how hard you have to work to improve...GREAT JOB!!!!

First if I went down to 180 I would be too weak to run faster because of my build, but to your point if I use your logic then I shouldnt be running faster than anybody that weigh less than me so while losing weight may help some get faster it is not the only factor not even close

I think some of you are forgetting a few things. First it depends on how you are training, how long you have been running, weight does have a factor but its not everything. I weigh anywhere from 197 - 201 and I am 51 years old. 2 weeks ago I ran a 5k with a 6:53 pace and I beat both smaller and bigger people, I finshed…

go at your own pace, there is a fine line between pushing yourself to be your best and pushing too hard and getting hurt. once it starts getting a little easier push through a little and go to the next level.

If you are going to post something like this then the first thing everyone is going to look at is your food diary and that where everyone is getting this from before according to your diary you are not even close to 1400 calories per day. Dont misunderstand , I am sure everyone thinks your results are great but the point…

The most important thing about getting ready for a half is making sure you can do it without hurting yourself. If this is your first I would highly recommend using Hal Higdon's training program. Both my wife and I used it for our first half's and it helped us tremendously. Dont worry about time, worry about being ready…

Just hit 2 years not too long ago, went from 315 to 195, currently maintaining between 198-202 depending on the day but have put on a lot of muscle, body fat is about 12-13% right now. I am old but very competitive so I run in a lot of races and duathlons to keep my juices flowing. Someone else already mentioned it buts…

You have to decide what motivates you, for me when I started it was to be around long enough to see my grandaughter grow up. Now 3 years later its as much for me as anything. I have become a competitve runner and duathlete so now this is what keeps me going. The first thing I would do if I were you is not look ahead to…

Shoes would be the first thing I would take care of. Go to a running store (Fit2Run) is a good one in my area. Have them do a gait analysis and they can recommend a good shoe for you. The key to shoes is not wearing what other people wear , I wear Brooks Ravenna but its a shoe with more stability because of my gait, I…

easy answer, dont waste your money......exercise is number 1, watching what you eat is number 2.....I have lost 115 pounds and never took a diet pill

if you want new friends fine but dont blame them because you havent lost weight. nobody is shoving the food in your mouth or forcing you to eat what you dont want or need too. as someone said earlier, time for you to be accountable for yourself and not blame other

get a new boyfriend, get one that has a brain this time

if you are going to run go to a running store and have them check your gait and get fitted for a good pair of running shoes, its well worth the time and money, if not you will be hurting big time. Running willl tone your legs the right way, I started running 3 years ago and wish I would have had someone give me advice on…

I started running less than 3 years ago and I weighed a little over 300 pounds, today depending on the day I weigh right at 200 and not only do I run 5k's, 10'k's, half marathons and duathlons I also win them in my age group. You can do this, do it right, start slow and work your way up. The biggest part of running is…

I have old pics of myself before I lost the weight, if I ever lose motivation that brings me back to reality real fast. I also run races to keep me motivated so I am always in shape. Also knowledge is helpful, when you lose weight you go through periods where you quit losing or plateau. Most of the time all you have to do…

depending on what I am using it for I will either eat a PR Bar or make a smoothie with strawberries, bluberries, spinach , ice , non fat milk and protein powder. I used to use the expensive powder from GNC but now I just use the powder from Walmart . A lot cheaper and works just as well.....but the chocolate milk is also a…

Been there so I know exactly how you feel and it sounds like you figured it out so great job from a fellow plus 100 pound loser, and by the way there is no perfect weight loss story, we all have done the same things

I am 51 and have lost 115 pounds already, I am on here to maintain and maybe lose another 10 but also to motivate other and let them know it can be done. Feel free to send a friend request and I will do evereything I can to help you focus and get over the mental part which is so much harder than the physical part
-
I log breakfast and lunch in the morning and exercise as I go, then decide what I am going to eat for dinner from there

In my opinion BMI is a joke...I am 6' and weigh 202 and if you go by bmi I am overweight and close to obese when in reality I am not overweight at all. My doctor told to ignore the bmi because it doesnt take into account muscle mass and in my case if I weighed 180 like the bmi says i should I would be wat too small
-
I agree with everyone else, get off that stuff. It will not motivate but it may make you sick. Your motivation need to be the fact you want to get healthier and look better. As many have said already, eat better and exercise its the only way to do it correctly and for the long term benefits

I have a Garmin 310 watch, it is one of the cheaper Garmins but it does the job. This watch comes with a strap which I think makes it more accurate
