  • When you first sign up for myfitness pal, it asks you your weight loss goals. From there, it automatically gives you a deficit of calories so you are (hopefully) losing the weight that you want. For example, at my weight, age, sex myfitnesspal says I use 1700 calories a day just LIVING, eating, breathing, whatever. I want…
  • I have been with my trainer (trainer for 18 years) for a year. I pay $20 per one hour session. I live in Oregon. I guess I'm lucky - she usually works out with me to get hers in, has become a friend and it's not uncommon for us to work for closer to 70-75 minutes together.

  • I imagine it's a choice EVERY DAY for a lot of people, that's why so many people fall off the wagon. They are tired of choosing what may not come naturally.
  • My trainer always says - carbs before, protein after. I regularly have half an english muffin with almond butter before working out - and a can of tuna post-workout.
  • 331.9+ 3 = 334.9 !!
  • You have lots of choices - you can eat separately from him, you can work out extra hard so you can "afford" those calories, or you can eat in moderation. Why not have a slice of pizza, and then make a big green salad for your main? I tend to not log in on weekends, but I still keep in mind the progress I made over the week…
  • I'm lucky that we have a gym here at the office. I workout on my lunch breaks. When it's sunny, I run outside (we have a lot of good running spots around the office) Once a week, I also use my hour long break to drive to my trainer's (1 mile away) and get a personal training session in. If I didn't workout on my noon hour,…
  • I love my pressure cooker. Every few months, I cook a ton of dry beans and brown rice, and freeze. When I'm ready for them, I just steam the rice in the micro, or put the beans on the stove. I'm a full time working mom and usually have to have dinner on the table in about 30-35 minutes after getting home in the evenings.…
  • I like to add brown rice and black beans together, and then add a little bit of salsa and ranch, a few crushed tortilla chips and it's an awesome crunchy/filling meal! With the salsa and ranch, I put it in the blender, so it's more like a dressing. Add lime juice for additional tangy flavor!
  • I plan most of my day. It really helps me choose wisely. This morning - banana smoothie w/ peanut butter, protein powder, milk AM Snack - plain yogurt with mixed berries and stevia pre-work out calories - crackers with peanut butter Lunch - unknown! PM snack - unknown! dinner - stuffed pasta shells with marinara, leafy…
  • I am also working on lowering some debt. To reward my weight loss with food, would be like adding to my credit card debt once I hit a certain debt goal. Doesn't make sense.
  • I do egg whites and salsa in the microwave at work for the morning. Also, edamame goes in the microwave, add a little sea salt - wonderful. Sometimes I toast half an english muffin and put my egg whites on that.
  • I can see it - and look how you are standing more confident, too!
  • That same thread convinved me, too!
  • Have you tried Baked Oatmeal? It's a different texture. It's my favorite. I'll make it on Sundays and it will last me all week.
  • Central Oregon!
  • Yesterday I had a bad stress eating day too. Darn chocolate covered raisins. Today is a new day! I second whoever said drink a lot of water today!
  • Oooh. Thanks for that. I like to add frozen berries to my plain yogurt. I'll make it in the mornings, and bring it to work. By the time I'm ready to eat it, the berries are thawed. I add a little stevia to sweeten it up. Perfect!
  • Try Mexican rice, black beans and chicken with a bit of salsa on top. Just a few crushed tortilla chips for crunch. That's filling. You could try making your own Mexican rice, with brown rice for more nutritional value.
  • I gained 44 with my first, and 18 with my second. I don't think I did anything different, except had a toddler to chase during prenancy #2.
  • Bridget, I'm the wife of a police officer too. There was also a shooting in my state, Oregon, in a small coastal town this morning. The officer is in critical condition as of this afternoon, and the shooter is still at large. :( Makes me ill. Two weeks ago, we had another officer killed in our state by a man high on meth.…
  • I put a whole chicken in the crockpot, so we'll have that! I'll make roasted potatoes for the kids/husband and I'll have roasted snap peas with shallots. Something else too, just not sure what!
