  • I don't see my name in any of the teams, I guess I will catch the next challenge.
  • SOrry, I blanked out on when it started.. Can I still participate?
  • What exactly is an ACN? According to this article, it doesn't exist. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-03-21/health/ct-met-nutritionist-types-20130128_1_medical-nutrition-therapy-food-and-nutrition-nutrition-professionals
  • I have cardiac conditions secondary to lupus. I have tachycardia, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, have had two mini strokes (at least), chronic venous insufficiency as well as scarring on my heart secondary to inflammation from lupus. I am on two medications to keep my heart rate lowered and steady.
  • I am 5'10 or so, not really sure about my exact height because I had some compression fractures in my spine about four or five years ago that cut some height off of me. My legs are fairly long and I guess I have a shorter torso? I'm not entirely sure. I am currently a work in progress, but oh boy what progress have I made!…
  • It is very possible! I don't do any lifting but I have lost 30lbs in 280 days, 106lbs in a little over 2 years. I am a lot heavier than you lol probably 3 of you (313lbs) so I burn a little more just in daily living from what I understand of the concept of BMR but it is very possible to loose 10lbs in 3 months! I hope that…
  • I've had trouble with having a "veil" over my eyes when I've over worked them. If you're not on any meds, it could be lupus attacking your eyes. There are some cases that it can affect your eyes in the form of iritis. Have you seen any doctor about it?
  • I've been legally blind since I was 12. I can't see past my nose clearly without my glasses. There is a risk with any medication, but always look at a risk vs benefit. There are other medications out there, but for people with rhuematological diseases Plaquenil is one of the safest and most prescribed. If you take it as…
  • I saw this on Facebook. I think it's a horrible idea. What about a group of kids that go up together and she deems only one of them (by her own twisted standards most likely) to be "letter material?" What is that child going to think? She claims that it takes a village to raise a child and she's "helping" her village…
  • My opthamologist is one of the leaders in the area of research into this very subject. He told me that the current use of Plaquenil (200mg twice a day) is relatively safe. I have been legally blind (can't see past my nose clearly without glasses) since I was about 12. I have been on Plaquenil for about 3 years now. I go…
  • I would like to offer you, and everyone here, an invitation to a closed (private) support group on Facebook. We are very close knit, supportive, and we have people from all walks of life, from all stages of the lupus ride. The name of the group is Lupieville. Because it is a private group (doesn't show up on your wall for…
  • Honestly, I don't think that autoimmune diseases ever ride solo. I have SLE, diabetes, hypothyroidism, RA, OA, fibro.. All autoimmune. I also have some other things going on. Hopefully when I go to USF in November to my Mom's rhuematologist I can get more answers. ,
  • Nope, don't think it did!
  • Okay first of, who designated you the exercise police? Secondly, for someone that is chronically ill, has joint problems, is recovering from surgery, or who is unable to go out and do all these fancy exercise programs, that may be ALL they can do! How about being supportive! I can't go out and do these Zumba classes and so…
  • I have only had two borderline ANA's ever. There is something called seurm-negative lupus. I have this. There are several people that I know that have this. I was even told by a researcher at a clinical study that your ANA can change from day to day. Lupus is better diagnosed by symptomology rather than solely based on the…
  • The thing with infusions are that you are only "hooked" up typically (after the loading dose) once a month or less. My mom has PsA, and has been getting Remicade infusions. It takes her 2-3 hours once every six weeks. Her quality of life has improved so much. It is a very expensive drug because it has only been out about a…
  • I am working with a woman who is a holistic health practioner who also happens to have lupus. She is an amazing woman, and helps guide me in certain things. As for the anti-inflammatory foods.. the BEST one out there is plain old raw cucumber! The WORST food is any animal protein. I can post the link to her website that…
  • Overall, since my highest weight I've lost a newborn calf.. wow.
  • I have a really good friend that is a holistic health practioner and she also lives with lupus. She makes a lot of great (luipe-safe) products for pain relief, healing, and help with sleeping. her web site is www.farmerchick.com
  • I did my city's walk in Tampa on the fifth. I loved it, even though it was hard, I tried to do the entire three miles but my mom needed to duck out early so we did about 2.5 miles. I love having such a great community. I would like to invite you, if you have facebook, to our private facebook support group. It's private so…
