  • hi there here's my opinion ( 6 yrs working ifor a women's nike store and triathlon store )..you can walk in a running shoe but should never run in a walking shoe, they are just built different as for brands: there is no hard and fast answer...like i said i worked for nike but i love running in either saucony or new balance…
  • just saw an AD that made me think of this thread "cause my sport is your sports punishment" which is so try...have many of us have "had" to run laps for being naughty?...and now we do it cause it brings us to our happy place
  • i have pizza almost every friday, which is my hiking day so i get a good burn amount to start with...i get a thin crust frozen one and even if i eat the whole thing ( it happens ) its about 880...but i have a light lunch and healthier snacks leading up to it
  • we get use to seeing people a certain size..and when they make big changes, it's hard for others to adjust..compared to your old self you are skinny and boney...but sometimes those aren't bad words..heck i told my boyfriend that my collar bones were getting all " boney and pointy" just yesterday know some people suck and…
  • i run so i can keep traveling to new places and to do half marathons...for the finishers medal...the celebration tub of strawberry haagen dazs...for the kids who high five me along the way...for a reason to cheer someone else on when they look like they want to quick ... to do what i never thought i could
  • i would say no...but if you have the energy and really want... try a small short walk, i would suggest no serious cardio
  • i use to manage a bike / triathlon shop so when it came to getting feedback from customers, i feel i have a bit of insight... the vote hands down was the CycleOps Fluid trainer..they are quieter then the magnetic ones and have a much longer life span...they do cost a bit more up front but the rolling tension is more of a…

  • i was very lucky to have this conversation with two personal trainers just a little while ago ( they are both multi-time ironman distance triathlon finishers, one has completed the race across america bike race and the other one is a RTM ) so when it comes to their input i take it as gold.... they are both pro it only…

  • i say he's the one with the issue..you mentioned this is repetitive behaviour...its notan if its a when i was married to man who did the excat same thing to me...thing is i was so unhappy ( hindsight ) that i ate and ate that relationship ended when i caught him telling another woman he no longer was "in love with me"…
  • i haven't done a lot but after 9 i feel i've learnt a few things my thoughts are as follows... 1. rest...the week leading up to it...no long runs, try and stick to a few shorter / easier days better to show up fresh and rested..and the two nights leading up to try and get to bed at a slightly earlier hour 2. start in the…
  • try and get a really long walk in within the next couple of days..this will help you with the metal hurdle the last two days leading up i would take off ( total rest days ) that way you go into it all fresh have fun and remember to smile
  • this is the exact issue with BMI...people who are heavy with muscles ( ex body builders ) often get shown as obese i would look at body fat and measurements...i was just reading that some fitness gurus are now looking at the basic height / hips ratio since it would be a better system my 2 cents
  • mix things up..i was stalled for about a month and after i stopped hitting the gym and doing the classes and switched into longer walks and hiking did the weight start moving in the right direction again we often get into a rut and need to shake things up, try doing your workout routine in a different order or throw in 10…
  • way to go ! sometimes we just need to do those crazy impulses that push us to try new things
  • it sounds like you might be pushing things a bit too hard..when i train to do long distance triathlons or half marathons i do long runs ( 12-18 km ) and afterwards i am totally pooped and had to take a nap....the worst is when you "bonk" during the event due to pushing too hard and not eating enough i agree with all the…
  • your muscles are most likely very tight which is causing your pain...i would suggest more stretching, try walking on your heels and switch or to your toes for 30 seconds each for about 2 - 3 mins before and after your walks... helped me with shin issues
  • my only question is where are you getting your calories burnt data from?... personally my ipod lies to me and so do cardio machines...just saying
  • the right shoes and the right socks ( once you make the change to wicking socks you wonder why you waited ) make a huge difference....the other thing you might want to try is some sort of lubricant like vaseline ( i don't like the way it feels but its works ...at half / marathons there are often aid stations handing it out…

  • if you have a bbq i find it to be the best at quick meals chicken breasts with seasoning ( not soaked in sauce ) take almost no time and then i just throw some roughly chopped veggies ( or the odd searving of sweet potato french fries ) into a tin dish and that goes on there too
  • you made my jaw drop! way to stick to it and you chicky are a rockstar
  • i'm 5'2 and i have a goal and then i have my GOAL...my goal is 135...at this point i will be crazy happy however....if i can get there, then my super duper..OMG goal would be 127 i think 135 will be small enough on me as i started at a size 14-15 ( 158 ) and currently am 147 ( size 11-12 )_...based on these changes i think…
