Welcome to our newest folks... I'd name you, but my A.D.D. prevents me from being that organized--I have absolute faith one or our more organized gals will welcome you by name (Pink? April? I know one of you ladies will help me out here) I know I'm supposed to be ignoring my scale, but it had good news for me, so I…

I hated it just as much as Biggest Loser... b/c it is addictive and I know I will totally watch it!!!
-
Another thing to consider... they are called Challenges for a reason--to be challenging, not necessarily because you like the idea or it sounds like fun! For me, if it gets results, I'm up for just about anything

I was doing the Shred a few years ago everyday and got burnt out really quickly... FFWD 2 yrs, I now do it every other day and get some cardio in on the opposite days--this is working TREMENDOUSLY well for me! Still keeps my fitness level up, and my coffee cup don't shake when I lift it
-
I use it as a pizza topping, in Quesadillas (especially if I have some left over from Taco Night), as a topper for a salad, to make meatballs (check out www.skinnytaste.com--the Greek Meatballs are EXCELLENT any my 3 yr old loves them!), etc.

If you want to make it super yummy and up the "fancy" factor, check out this recipe: http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/baked-asparagus-with-balsamic-butter-sauce/Detail.aspx That is the only way I make it anymore! I usually use half the recipe of sauce though, and Smart Balance Light instead of butter.

Had an OK week... it was just kind of... weird. Guess I felt a little off all week, and I think it was b/c I was forced to do new exercises to compensate for the fact I couldn't run (shin splints). I miss my running :frown: The weird part is that I felt like I wasn't working or exercising as hard w/o the running, even…

Salmon... squeeze of lemon and some dill--wrap it in foil or parchment paper (if you don't have a grill) and toss it in the oven at 350 for 10-15 mins--so easy, and DELISH! Cod... bake on both sides for a 3-4 mins each, top with mixture of 1 Tsp lite mayo, 1/8 c parmesan, squeeze of lemon, garlic powder, and again dill (or…

My fave is very similar, but with red wine and chopped garlic in place of the soy sauce and mrs dash. Also, I use red onions--when the cook down, they are so sweet and yummy!

Also, if you want ideas that are easily tracked--in the "check-in" section of MFP, they have some measurement areas already entered! You can also add custom ones. For me, I only measure about 1x/month--that way I always see results

I know this directed at Pink, but I have to chime in-SO FABULOUS!!! *jealous*

I am ABSOLUTELY not a genius! But... I read (in Runner's World, I believe) that stretching before running is good for you, but to actually do a couple laps or a few minutes of walking/jogging to be most effective. Same article said stretching after any workout is HUGELY important--it reduces the lactic acid, which is what…

It went pretty good... I had actually done about 20 days of it a couple years ago, so I knew what I was getting into! But, I purposely waited until at least a month after starting this "lifestyle" to start it, as I got discouraged last time. Today I was able to complete everything except all of the pushups, and I had to…

It's how many calories you've taken in, minus any exercise calories. So, if at the end of the day you've eaten 1400 cals, but exercised 200, then your net would be 1200. Welcome, and good luck!

*Alegria79* AWESOME on the smaller dress size(s)--how fabulous did that feel?! And I'm sure Pink_and_Shiny has a top 10 list of great shiny pink polishes... if not, I do! *bjshooter* Hang in there... you've come so far (37lbs is great *jealous*), so you are already successful no matter what outcome the docs have!!!…

Absolutely! I am constantly thinking about how early I should get off work to ensure I get to the gym in time to get my fave treadmill (fave treadmill?! When did I start liking the treadmill, let alone have a favorite???) and be done in time to p/u my kiddo. Or randomly at 8 or 9 at night, I will finally give-in to the…

My fave right now is Take It Off by Ke$ha... not her biggest fan, but the beat is good and thinking about actually taking my clothes off makes me work harder!
-
If it's there, try to get early to the veggie or fruit tray--everybody eats those, so surely you won't be seen as rude for taking part in something everyone else is eating. I would also consider that you are not being rude to not eat other people's food--you are simply doing what you think is best for you! Anyone's whose…

Great job! That's one mile you hadn't done yesterday, and one closer to your goal :)

GEEZ... I would quit a gym so fast their head would spin if there was a dress code like that!!! Even at my biggest (I guess everyone has that stage where they feel ginormous, even if they aren't THAT big, but I felt like my arms had enough flab I could probably fly with with), I ALWAYS wore tank tops. Hello, you are more…

Good luck! I bet by May you will be an exercise addict... it only took me a few weeks  Just remember... if you keep at this, no matter how much you lose by the end of the competition you will have already drastically improved your life--you can do this, and MFP can help!

Too many posts to catch-up--AHH! Busy board this week, so I will just say GREAT JOB to everyone checking in and keeping up! *casey_when_u_go* Good to know about the shoes/length of time they last... I actually haven't been fitted for running shoes *gasp* and just discovered that could be 90% of my problem. I'll also be…

Fabulous!!! Awesome loss of inches, especially around your midsection... I think you just convinced me to do it, and without pictures even
-
I'm on the La Tortilla Factory bandwagon, too--they are tasty, pretty "clean" (for a packaged tortilla), and lots of choices... Low Carb, Low Fat, Flavored Wraps, etc. I would love to see myself give-up tortillas some day, but for now, these work for me  I've found them at Randalls (it's a Safeway chain) and HEB...…

*Pink_and_Shiny: Love, LOVE, L-O-V-E these!!! Opi rocks my bobby socks. I'm totally going shopping for the new Glee colors this weekend, as a reward for reaching my first mini goal last week *yay* In other news... I finally figured out what is wrong with my calves--posterior shin splints (vs anterior, the kind…

This link: http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/healthy-meals/400-calorie-dinners-00000000027141/index.html has 30 days worth of 400-cal recipes! Add a salad or something to it and you can still be under 500, and FULL! Good luck, and welcome!

Stuff it with Spinach, Mushrooms, and Red Peppers tossed in a *very* little bit of Sesame Oil; bake until no longer pink (25-30 mins). Easy and very "gourmet" tasting in a very short time! If you wanted to reduce the cals from oil, you could put a little non-fat greek yogurt in there instead... kind of gives it a creamy…

I agree... and, if you're working out, specifically any strenghth training, it is good for your improving muscles!
-
I've read that alcohol (in any amount) can prevent your body from burning up to 75% of it's normal calorie burn, for up to 20 hours... maybe your are just burning all those extra calories now!!!

I would recommend actually seeing your Dr--if you haven't visited with the Dr prior to starting, they can run some simple blood tests, etc. to let you know where you are "starting". And have faith that even though you might not see the numbers budging on the scale, your efforts are AT LEAST helping you lead a healthier…
