  • Soy sauce and honey (or agave), then sprinkle with some cinnamon just before cooking. So good!
  • Ask someone to hide it... or take it to work. I took mine to work, and was always afraid someone was going to walk around the corner and see me weighing myself (b/c, really, who does?). I ended up having to take it home on the weekend to weigh-in, and now I'm just in the habit!
  • There is one in BC--August 6th (check out their website). They have one in WA, too! I think it's in July... but I will be living in WA and still going to the OR one--I like the course layout better.
  • Yay! I just found this race/course and signed-up RIGHT AWAY! It looks like a fun way to get your butt kicked  I am on w3/4 of c25k, and am not doing my Dash until Sept (Oregon), but I plan to do another 5k around May/June... all of that training still has me *slightly* scared of the Dash, and I am definitely using…
  • GREAT ideas... and avocado if you like it--delish! Ooo--and one of my faves is Peanut Butter, but go with the natural/unsalted brands. Also, you really should consider eating smaller portions more often--it will give your metabolism a kick in the pants.
  • Hi... Emily here! I kind of caught the tail end of the VDay challenge, and I'm so excited for this one! I never did an intro, so here's my super quick version... married with one baby (OK, she's 3--I'm in denial she's growing up though!), living in TX and soon to move back to WA. Always struggled with weight, and finally…
  • Netflix has Shred on there?!?! Well that saved me $10... :)
  • Pink_and_Shiny... thanks for the correction on the website--doh! Oh, and I'm not sure of the name of the color of the polish, but it is Rimmel 10-Day (bottle is pretty all on it's own, all thick glass and super posh looking), goes on super smooth, and it's a classic burgandy/red color--perfect for v-day, and it hasn't…
  • Awesome!!! I can't WAIT to get to my pre-baby weight, and I am so excited for you to be there... I can only imagine how great that feels
  • I just started running/jogging (usually do about 1/2 hr everyday), and find it MUCH easier to do so on the TM! I have no idea why this is (perhaps the TV attached helps...), but even the walk/job from my apt to the gym seems SO much harder than my time on TM. Very weird!
  • Hmm... you must be down a good amount, if you've gone down a pant size! You might just lose from one area initially, and I'm sure you will hear that you can't "spot" reduce. I say congrats on the pant size, and know that if you keep at it the rest of your body will start to melt away, too! That's actually a big…
  • And if you're REALLY just starting, I've heard some folks say they start with just their body weight, and still are dying the next day!!!
  • Welcome, and good luck! Feel free to "friend" me if you need some encouragement :)
  • Ooo... and I've been waiting to advocate my new water bottle--it is a Bobble, with a built-in filter! Only about 10 bucks, and the "spout" on the top is a filter... I live in Houston and am actually drinking tap water (normally, I don't even brush my teeth with it). You can get them at Target, in-store or online. Also,…
  • HAHA!!! So true... I'm glad I didn't have too many pictures of my current clothes at my previous weight, b/c I would probably be appaled at how poorly I was wearing them!
  • I am a shorty (5'3), have lost 11lbs, and still in same pants size... but everything is WAY loose! Think I've probably gone down in shirt size, and sadly my bras are not "full" anymore! Someone posted once that you will lose weight in the reverse order of how you gained it, provided you are doing cardio--don't know if that…
  • I don't know about the Aspartame (but, since it's not natural I really question it...), but my big thing when I drink sparkling water is that I get bloated--even the no-sodium kind! If you want to avoid the fake-sugar, try non-sweetened brands--LaCroix makes flavored ones (it's def. an acquired taste it you're used to the…
  • I love homemade salads... two cups of spinach, lots of crunch veggies (zucchini or yellow squash, bell peppers, cucumbers, etc) and a light or fat-free dressing. My fave right now is Annie's FatFree Mango Vinegarette--yum! If you'd got room for some extra cals, I crumble-up a piece of turkey bacon, too :) Even with the…
  • Also check-out Gina's Skinny Recipes (www.skinnyrecipes.com)--lots of yummy stuff! Several soup and stew recipes, which are great for making batches and freezing as well.
  • As part of the challenge this week, I did a little pampering by giving myself a NICE manicure last night (we're talking the $12 bottle of polish, with base and top coat, as well as a nice warm hand soak and overnight lotion). I just wanted to share b/c I felt fabulously femine while on the treadmill today every time I…
  • Anyone wanting some good homemade recipes for the week, check out Gina's Skinny Recipes (www.skinnyrecipes.com)... I'm havnig Greek Turkey Meatballs tonight, and have some Chicken Avocado Soup in the freezer for lunch sometime later this week. Really great MOSTLY healthy recipes that your non-slimming family members will…
  • Pretzel thins (low sodium)... By itself is fabulous, too, as I could eat the whole "wheel", they are so delicious! But, I refrain... :)
  • HaHa... I use these as a supplement when I can't get out of the house (usually when my 3yr old is still asleep), but I have to laugh about the wasting time comment--when I first started, that was me, too  I literally had to sit on the couch one night for about 20-30 mins to see which programs looked like ones I…
  • If you put the rate into your "Goals" section, it should calculate it automatically for you. Otherwise, a pound is roughly 3,500 cals if you want to do the math yourself :) Good luck, and welcome!
  • :noway: OMG! You're like half the person now!!! GREAT JOB, and very inspiring.
  • I just started c25k... you are giving me hope that I can even do that, as I can currently only make it about 1/2 mile! However, since my previous view on running was "only if I'm being chased", even that is an improvement. Yay to both of us, for small victories that add up over time--I can do 1/2 mile and you can do 8…
  • Well, after having a terrible binge day myself today (ice cream and cookies for breakfast!), I can tell you what the silver lining is... if you have in fact gained 8-10 lbs, it is probably due to sodium--which means it can and will go away! You should be drinking lots of water since you're under the weather anyway, so up…
  • My daughter is getting smarter and watching what I do more and more (she's 3); about a month ago, she came home from daycare and said she just wanted to watch TV all evening because "that's what you and Daddy do". Also, when I finally pushed myself to exercise, I discovered I like running (OK, only jogging at this…
  • I did good and saved enough cals for 3 light beers... unfortunately, I had the day off today, was slightly hung-over, and ate just about everything that wasn't glued down! Including some Ben & Jerry's Phish Food... twice. Damn you, Super Bowl! And your delayed effects...
  • Oh--you could also check out Hal Higdon's website (just google his name); same starting idea as c25k, but I think he's got some books and pamphlets you can purchase that might be more specific to what you're doing.
