  • oh, its not a requirement at all. Sorry, I did forget you mentioned that. Because I have PCOS and I was above 40% BMI, and I refused surgery, my doctor also recommended medications for my hypothalamus, in addition to metformin for my hormone imbalance (insulin resistance). However, that is about when I tried to go…
  • And might I just add... people who are having to do a VLCD, it takes a great deal of strength and will power. I think if they are on it correctly then they should be commended and not lectured. It's hard going from eating like crap to 800 cals/day. My 800 calories of supplements, bars and chicken breast is much better…
  • I did not ask for help nor did I ask any questions. The only complaint I made was the viciousness of others on another woman I saw who was on a low cal diet here. I see 2 doctors regularly, my main doctor who initiated the diet and I see a dietician weekly. The way I am eating right now there is no risk of becoming…
  • my protein intake is aprox 100-120g daily. my carbs are about 70g daily, and cals are at 800 there is no way i would lose my lean muscle. Someone eating 2000 cals a day of fruits and veggies will lose their muscles quicker, you know? I have been thoroughly educated in this and my doctor really does have a PhD... might not…
  • Absolutely! The only person who should recommend a VLCD is a persons doctor. :) no one here. BUT, the point of this post was to help people understand that some people need to be on them. It was this or the knife, and I refuse that. I am hell bent and determined to get healthy without meds and surgery. I never said it was…
  • Like I said, I dont encourage it, nor recommend it. It worked well for me, why did I stop cold turkey if it worked so well? Because Im human, because Im fat and oreo cookies keep coming out with new flavors. Why does anyone quit any diet or healthy way of life? I was on 800cals then, and am on it again this year under…
  • Personally, I think it's better to just change eating habits all together. If all I had to lose was 50lbs, my doctor would not have put me on a VLCD, nor recommended bariatric surgery. But I had to lose 120 to be considered in healthy weight range. I was prediabetic, have PCOS and now arthritis and a fatty liver (and im…
  • Yes, I completely agree that it is not for those that are simply overweight. In my instance I was morbidly obese and was even advised by my doctor to have gastric bypass (my BMI was 42%) So I did the diet until I got under 40 bmi. Everyone definitely needs to do this the healthy way. Thats one of the points of losing…
  • way too much sodium, increase protein, decrease carbs, quit eating out (the quality of the food we put in is just as important as the quantity) You also mayyyyyy be overestimating your calories burned. what do you do for a workout?
  • Increase your protein intake by about 20-30 grams and decrease your carbs. Learned this for myself, but its very necessary.Especically if you are working out.
  • Wow that is fantastic!!!!! CONGRATS!!!!
  • Ok thanks :) I expect some loose skin... but i guess a future with playboy is out of the question... lol ;) but i will weight train and moiturize too. 11lbs lost so far though. YAY!
  • I havent eaten it in a week so far... but today my sister went to mcdonalds so i got a grilled chicken snack wrap no sauce for lunch (230 calories) and i looked at thier calorie menue and was DISGUSTED!!!! My SISTER on the other hand left out of there eating 1600 calories just for LUNCH! HOLY BAJEEZUS! stay AWAY from that…
  • I don't see any calcium really in here... make sure to take a supplement :)
  • It does also make me think about eating, but for me its a good thing. I used to eat without even thinking! lol now i am AWARE of when i eat and what im eating. It will get better. keep up with your logging of your food! it heps SO MUCH!
  • I am 25 days sober :) I also binged but twice a week. And as with your any diet plans go out the window. So I sobered up (not bc of the diet but bc of other things) and i find it quite easy! once you get a couple of weeks under your belt you feel so proud. Dont forget to brag and get your high fives, that helps a great…
