I have used my Fitbit religiously for 15mths and it seems bang on otherwise my maintenance would have been horribly blown! MFP overestimates vs my Fitbit by 50-100 cals. ETA - when clipped to bra, boob jiggleage added extra steps so mine goes on my waistband now as my boobs clearly walk independently of my legs!!

Are the whites of your eyes affected? If so you should check with doctor that it's not jaundice - although unlikely. I would have thought one would have to consume stuff in vast quantities to get such an effect.

You must feel amazing and very proud. I'm 47 and 14mths into maintenance, love the story and the pics. I'm a massive believer in "use it or lose it" and seeing my older patients who are still fit just underlines that. Of the (age 75-95) 45 pts on my current study, the ones who are happiest and doing well are those who eat…

I'm 5'2.5 and lost 28lbs on 1400 cals a day. I was using Biggest Loser site then so didn't eat cals back and I was exercising but nothing hard core. Been maintaining over a year now so it seems to have worked for me.

There is a huge change - well done and good for you! :o)

I'm so glad I never got the taste for alcohol, not because I'm up my own pipe or anti-drinking but because I refuse to have a calorie I can't chew! I'm only 5'2.5 so have little to spare on liquids. Good luck (genuinely) to those undertaking this and even more so to those who feel it's become more than just a treat for…

My Aria scales I can live without but my Fitbit is now a part of my body and vital to the maintenance I've managed for over a year. It's a massive motivator to be more active on a regular basis as opposed to thrashing in the gym 3x wk then sitting down for the rest of it. That's just my take but it works for me.

Nope, I didn't have wt related rewards at all, just a desire for a lifelong change which would make me feel better. The outcome is reward enough for me. I just returned from latest mountain walking hol (hobby of 18yrs) able to ascend to summit faster and descend without knee pain and do that day in day out and do up to 80…

1. 28 2. 7ish mths 3. 1400 and some days off for hols/celebrations 4. Gym 3x a week but nothing hard core. Walked a lot to up daily activity. I saw no point in gym for short bursts then sitting on *kitten* rest of time. Fitbit is invaluable for seeing overall activity which made me make more sustainable lifestyle changes.…

Apols if this has already been said but, aside from being a complete twonk, I don't think he is in a position to comment. Many diabetics (not all) deliberately mismanage their condition to keep their wt low. If he does that then he's on a short cut to renal failure, loss of sight, amputations etc etc etc. Now would you…

I only relax when in the mountains so my "holidays" consist of walking about 10miles a day in the hills and I own an ice axe and crampons.

I'm 5'2.75 and 133lbs, admittedly I could lose some off my tum but not at the expense of everything else. At 46 I can't afford to look like a tortoise without his shell! What I'm saying, badly, is your goal seems very low.

Don't look at the longer term other than sticking with slow but steady loss for long term success. Every day is a new success, focus on that and see it as the start of new good habits not a diet or something to be endured.

You look amazing and the best thing is that you just kept on going - good for you

Forgot to say that I also plan in "8 O'clocksies" when I have a 150-300 cal snack (150 is planned and the extra is if I've earned it on Fitbit). I also drinks tons, always have, I don't care that it is mainly decaff coffee and tea. I know that too many rules = meltdown for me so anything is better than nothing. I'm sure…

Aw. Real normal life is about sensible eating peppered with treats and social events - this was one of them. Most of us have had to learn not to hide from these things otherwise it's a diet not a lifestyle change. The day after is what counts, that is getting straight back to normal eating, no need to overcompensate etc,…

I have a "never on a weekday" rule when it comes to deviating from my pre-logged food (which includes treats anyway) and it works to keep repeating it and my colleagues even say it to me now. It's just a cake/cookie/whatever and there will always be cake/cookie/whatever - food isn't going to disappear from the planet so…

Bump because I'm heading towards lifting!

Oh and make small changes which you can sustain even if that means a slow return to preferred wt or eating styles, better that than resuming feast/famine/failure cycles.
-
I can eat from dusk til dawn and think there are several ways of dealing with this and it involves creating new habits, these are mine: I just don't give myself permission to eat more than planned except at w/e but this is what suits me, adapt things to suit your weak times Don't see over eating as surrendering to some…

I'm 5'2.5 and lost on 1400ish. You may pooh pooh losing .5lb a week but it's completely sensible and less likely to find you back here in 6mths saying you regained it all.

I'm 46 and lost 28lbs on 1400 cals/day. I didn't find it any harder than losing wt in my 20's/30's. I logged and measured religiously, liquids or solids. Been maintaining a year. I had some regular breaks for social stuff but don't think I'd have lost with a cheat day a week. Hope you pinpoint the problem - good luck :o)

Let's be honest, regardless of the science/opinion (and I speak as a research nurse) if something isn't sustainable or natural for you then it doesn't matter a toot! I do my best and what I can sustain, after 30yrs of feast/famine that is far more important than anything else.
-
Eggs are good but cals depend on size, mine are around 80 cals.....sadly!
-
Hiya. I lost 2st on 1400 cals - don't go too low or it'll be another diet you break. Go for gentle loss and you can sustain it. I'm over a yr into maintenance after a lifetime of feast/famine diets.
-
I don't always have bigger meals though, just allow myself more cals/freedom. If I try to eat large portions these days I have to sleep upright with 2 pillows because it feels like I've eaten a sofa sideways lol.

Yep! I've done it for over a year. I eat at a 250 deficit on my Fitbit account, log food here, and eat more at w/e. I don't go mad but do relax it a lot! I plan my food each night and set a 1500cal minimum M-F then add in any extras I've earned on the day, so maybe some choccie in evening etc. I generally hit 1700ish in…
