  • Hi. Please see my message re this, thanks
  • I'm in the UK and have premium but still can't get rid of calories when I'm in the diary page. Can you advise please? They are really unhelpful when only interested in macros. Thanks
  • Same here for last few days. Mine is random and intermittent and isn't correcting retrospectively even if correct for "live" activity. Done all the usual fixes - no idea whether it's Fitbit or MFP. Fitbit did update today but hasn't helped - might not have been meant to though of course!
  • How are you getting on OP?
  • I'm 2yrs in and still count like I did on day 1, it's worth it. I eat foods I love, it's no punishment.
  • bump to try, I rarely use my slow cooker as stuff seems watery and flaccid even using pre-fry methods.
  • My wt never used to go from boobs so I had a breast reduction yrs ago. Lost 28lbs 18mths ago and now have to buy padded bras to boost things even though I'm 34DD - being 46 may not help lol, no youthful plumpshessness here :grumble:
  • I'm the same UK sizes as you and have the same problem. My clothes are smaller but my shape is the same as when bigger so the spare tyre remains lol. I've learned that wt loss doesn't silence the brain monkey who beats you up from inside!
  • Bump for later because the discomfort is making me think of stopping. I don't mind the discomfort as such but hate feeling limited when need to run around at work or do other stuff. I am already pretty strong but not from formal lifting so am finding it hard to get used to and not enjoying the formality of it at the mo.…
  • I get that feeling. I've lost 28lbs, never been fitter/stronger, never felt less sexy or appealing in my life - maybe that's being 46 though lol because I haven't been THAT before either! I'm 18mths into maintenance and still don't like me! Actually, worse, I'm ambivalent.
  • I've been maintaining for nearly 18mths. When losing and in maintenance I still enjoyed hols/events etc. and I maintain by eating at a 250 deficit in week then having more at w/e. I do try not to use events as a licence to go nuts but sometimes I also tell myself it's fine and it is. I use my trusty Fitbit (the ONLY reason…
  • I never try to undo such "damage". I think a knee jerk response is to cut back but that is more likely to result in "sod-it" syndrome and so the headf*ck cycle continues. Either do what you usually do (I'm not sure if you're maintaining or losing right now) and wait to see if the gain is real or set a small deficit (I use…
  • You have since said you don't own scales, I'd start there before worrying about bigger changes.
  • I take my hat off to you - I couldn't do that much gym, no wonder you're tired!
  • Mine is open. I'm on maintenance and use my Fitbit "real time" activity to set my cal limit as MFP is too generous for me. M-F I eat at a small deficit of 250cals then at w/e all hell may let loose so M-F are best for sensible ideas but there will always be biccies etc included. I aim for minimum 100g protein/day.
  • I know, it still goes against the grain and I told him I'd have walked out if he'd suggested it for me lol.
  • I was chatting to a personal trainer about this yesterday. I gave him my "snake oil" perspecti ve but was somewhat swayed by his response. He said he has learned that, for some people, their diet knowledge/skills are so very poor that he sometimes starts them on this to get them motivated etc whilst underpinning it with…
  • Surely you'd need to know how active they are and how they compare with others? "Naturally" thin in my friends translates as more active than the fatter ones quite often.
  • Good luck to you and anyone else just starting. I've been maintaining for over a year and the first thing is to see it as a way of life, a genuine change, so don't go at it hard and fast and fail in 3 days. Be gentle, still socialise, be more a ctiv e but don't feel you have to turn navy blue with exhaustion and crack on.…
  • Removing a section of gut means there is less time and surface area in which food absorption can occur, very often patients have loose stools and some nutritional deficiencies as a result although clearly you will also now have some improved absorption if the inflamed area is removed. It's complicated! From other's posts…
  • I lost 28lbs and carried most of it on my tum, 14mths into maintenance my tum is still getting smoother and less loose.
  • Mini tramp, small, makes you giggle, clocks up exercise easily whilst dinner is cooking and telly is on - works for me, I'm maintaining now!
  • Maybe I over estimate how much they move but I wouldn't put my back injury anywhere near something which jarred and juddered and shook in any way! Walking and mini tramp serve me well as does just being more active by just moving more. I never bring my dessert yog in with my dinner, I get back up and get it, I jog on the…
  • I use Alpro unsweetened in my drinks (I like the taste) but dairy in my porridge. I tried cheaper soy milks but it looked curdled like sperm in a hot bath in my tea and coffee :blushing: I recently tried Almond milk and it was just too watery, tolerable in tea, vile in coffee and worse in porridge - horses for courses I…
  • I just say "never on a week day" and don't have any. I prefer to keep unscheduled treats for the w/e when I can relax and enjoy food with Hubby. I have "junk" every day, but only what I planned in the night before and never stuff brought in "just because it's there", is there a worse reason to eat?! Food isn't going…
  • Hi OP, looked at diary, I'm no expert so will leave specific advice to others. I do wonder though whether you cook fresh food? I know some say cals in vs out is all that matters but lots of shop stuff can make you feel sluggish and crave more food as well as having high sodium levels. Apols if you do, I looked back as many…
  • Got to echo the others, as soon as you say you're not weighing food you cannot say a plan isn't working tbh. We all have to estimate when out but not weighing stuff at home (I thought I'd punch someone but do it in seconds now) is likely to lead to failure which does your head in and adds to the head messer that wt control…
  • Not sure if it's any help but I lost 28lbs on 1400cals/day and am only 5'2.5. I would never have aimed or hoped for 2lb/wk to be honest. BUT, I didn't go hard at it, I exercised more but not madly and ate less but not tons less. I wanted a lifestyle change not a strict diet or unsustainable exercise plan. I don't have…
