I have my food diary public to receive constructive criticism and ideas for healthier choices, but like everyone, every day is not perfect. I also like the idea of being able to give helpful hints to others when I do make good choices. I have a question tho about recipes. Most of my dinner entries are recipes that may not…

Initially I only watched the calorie levels, but since I have always had problems with my blood sugar I started watching my sugar intake as well, and have not had any dizzy spells or sudden sugar drops since. I have also started watching my sodium levels and just feel a ton better on days I stay within range, and don't…

Like you, my inspiration is my grandmother, but in a very different way. At 85 years old, she wakes up at 4:30 a.m. to spend the morning hours praying and doing her devotions, then riding the stationary bike before heading off to work as a home health aide. I have watched her lift people heavier than her off the floor…

I am 5'5" and started MFP at 128 with a weight loss goal of 10 pounds. I have since lost 12 pounds and look and feel great. I have a very small frame, and like you, was barely over 100 in highschool. I have now switched to maintenance and am trying to build up muscle to make the weight that I am carrying look as good as…

My absolute favorite cookbook has to be Cooking Light 5 Ingredient 15 Minute Cookbook. It gives you ideas for the full meal, not just one dish, as well as delicious dessert recipes, all quick and easy to make using ingredients commonly found in most households. And most of the dishes are under 400 calories. They have the…

I just got the Shred it with Weights DVD & plan on starting it tomorrow. Previewing it today, I must say it looks pretty hard. I don't have a kettlebell yet tho, I was just going to use a dumbbell. Can anyone tell me the difference between a dumbbell and a kettlebell (besides the shape) and if there will be a large…

When I reached my weight loss goal I bought myself Jillian Michael's Shred it with Weights DVD and a HRM to help me build some muscles. I think once I reach my fitness goal, being proud of my body and in great health will be its own reward.

Thanks all! A HRM is on the top of my wish list now & I have made an appointment to see my dr in early March. Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that calorie burns were custom to each person rather than each activity. Keeping that in mind I will just workout to the best of my ability & be happy with the results that I…

Thanks for the suggestions. Extra note: I am not on any medications. Also, I don't have a HRM right now, but have been using the ones on the gym equipment and my treadmill. Each of the different machines I use show the same results, so I don't think it is faulty equipment either. The idea that I may actually be in really…

I have to say, despite having a small gym (1 treadmill, 1 stationary bike, 1 elliptical, 1 weight machine that I still haven't figured out, a weight bench and a step) that is open to an apartment complex with over 550 apartments, I really haven't had a problem with waiting for a machine. In fact, the only other person I…

I am 5'5" and very small framed. My goal weight is 118-115, (started at 135, started MFP at 128, currently 120) but I really just want to tone more and be comfortable in a size 5 without that muffin top. Since my top half is so tiny, my true goal is to keep my stomach from sticking out further than my boobs. I don't think…

Oh yeah, and I can never eat turkey on Thanksgiving because it still looks like a bird and birds really really freak me out. If you carve up the bird before I ever see it I may be able to eat some breast meat, but even eating chicken legs and wings creeps me out because I can't help thinking that i am biting into a bird,…

1. I am the youngest of 13 children, but only really know 2 of my brothers, and haven't spoken to either of them in over a year. 2. I like the smell of gasoline. 3. I LOVE to read. 4. I accientally killed my husband's pet white rat that he used to let run loose throughout his apartment, and have never told him that it was…

This may be tmi, but seriously poed about it. My mom decided for Valentine's Day she would keep both of my children overnight on Saturday to give me some much needed alone time with my husband and a full nights sleep. And so what happens today? My 'female friend' shows up for the first time in about 18 months! Really?!?!?!…

I've never had a 'type' physically, have dated all different body types, hair colors, styles, etc. My hubby's ice blue eyes nearly pierced me the first time we met tho, and it was instant... love? prolly not, more like lust, but it developed into the deepest love because of my daughter. When we were still first going out…

You are doing so great! Keep it up!

Have you spoken to management about it? There used to be alot of issues at my apts gym too, but then a few people mentioned it to the property manager, who has since moved her office right next to the gym & checks in every hour or so to make sure everyone is signed in at the desk before working out, no ones kids are…

I named my first daughter Rachel Leigh (pronounced lee) after my twin that died before our birth. My baby is named Veronica Sophia, veronica after my hubby's grandma and sophia because we both loved it.

I am also a breastfeeding momma (feel free to add me as a friend). I recently found a listing under foods "generic breastfeeding mother by ounce". Since my daughter is now 9 months old and takes most of her milk through a sippy cup with me pumping except for naptime and bedtime and the occassional midnight feeding, I have…

My DH already got me the stinkin chocolates, so I made him hide them & promise to only let me have 1 at a time when I can fit it without going over on anything. My mother got me the best gift ever tho- a whole entire night without children! I can't decide which I want more: 8 straight hrs of sleep for the first time since…

Ok, just mad at myself and need to vent. I was so psyched yesterday after weighing in for the first time in almost 3 weeks to find that I had dropped 5 lbs! So after doing a great workout (for me), finally walking a 13 minute mile for the first time in over 4 years, I decided that it would be a good day to throw caution to…

Ok, so I found a book that I had been really wanting to read (Insomnia by Steven King), the hardback edition for only a dollar at the thrift store. I was sooo excited and have been reading it for the last couple days, really getting into it and nearly to page 300 when I flip the page and what do I find? SOMEONE CUT A HIDEY…

Thank you for posting this!!! After years of anorexia, obsessive exercise and binge eating, 2 pregnancies helped me start eating healthier (usually all 3 meals a day) and gain weight. Unfortunately I am so scared now trying to lose the last 10 pounds of the baby weight because of all the past issues. I don't want to…

Hi all! I have a 3 year old and a 8 month old and am also looking for support. I am new to MFP and lost 20 pounds before joining, but have gone nearly 2 months without losing a single ounce. Here's hoping that some good support and accountability will help me break through and lose the last 10 pounds before my 'second…

Thanks for all the advice and support!

Ok, so I know this rant may be a little controversial on a weight loss site, but it's been on my mind and I need to get it off, so here goes..... I hate how people who have a lot of weight to lose look at me with disgust when I join a conversation about weight loss. They claim to belong to gyms and groups that will support…

I gained 60 with my older daughter, rapidly loosing it breastfeeding and exercising after her birth. I gained 30 with my second daughter and am still working it all off 8 months later with breastfeeding, exercise, and diet, as well as chasing 2 children all day. Every body is different, as well as every pregnancy. I just…

Actually, that sounds about right, at least that's the average that I've been coming up with trying to guess at it. Thanks for the confirmation, it really was helpful!

Is there any way to track calories burned nursing? The best information I could find online was about 20 calories per ounce, but since I don't exclusively pump I've just been guestimating how much she's eating. Is there a better way to figure it out?
