  • Nah you aint in starvation mode. Your calories are fine but you are kinda killing it at the gym. Unless you are looking to get crazy cardio endurance for a specific reason (marathon or whatever), I would ease of the cardio for sure. Spend the rest of the time doing proper weight lifting, none of these girly thigh machines…
  • HELL NO girl. You getting respect for that.. not hate.. I went on a 48 hour water fast 2 weeks ago and lost 5 pounds.. all those haters saying my metabolism will crash and I will smash the weight back on... it has not only stayed off, ive lost more. Water fasts are the way to go, anyone says otherwise is one of dem folk…
  • Im kinda using common sense here, she is obviously dieting (as she did loose weight), she has obviously plateued off, she has obviously adjusted to her diet. I honestly dont think the OP went on a diet on 1400 calories (or watever it was).. lost weight... then increased her calories by 20% etc and then made a post saying…
  • And for sure its the way to break a platue. Calories being too low aint de reason for the platue, its just her body getting used to functioning on those calories is all.
  • Stop listening to people going on about your calories being too low.. I will tell you a tale of 2 folk who plateued off. One person is my girlfriend brother who went from 19-14 stone and plateued off. The other is me and we both used the same tactic to smash our plateues and I am loosing tons of weight again. Intermittent…
  • How long you reckon is good to stop eating before doing a workout? I know some people say completely fasted is best but that dont seem possible with my schedule
  • A lot of great help! mabe I could stick my window before and after the gym? so say I start my window at 5-7, get back from gym at 8-8.15 and eat post workout until 9 maybe 10? However this does mean I will be going to the gym on a full stomach which might not be that great :/
  • I usually sleep by about 11
  • Is the old saying eating before bed is bad for you a rumour then? thanks for the help!
  • Bump for any help :)
  • oh wow! the fact that you think im gettting "pissy" because someone doesnt agree with me about a water diet is soooo far from the truth its unreal! I actually pointed out that what was annoying me was that people were nit picking the word "cannibalizing" and having a massive debate over it, and also having a debate over…
  • ARGH seriously the majority of the posts here are so annoying!!! stop arguing over terminoligy for god sakes... stop nit picking at dumb points that arent relevant to what I am asking. I will talk in baby language to make it more simple.. Does drinking protein shakes during a fast slow down muscle loss?
  • I was quoting someone who said that muscle being consumed or "cannibalized" as I said it, was utterly ridiculous and basically that the term was idiotic and after they looked it up on line they were led to "fad diet" website. I am really glad this thread has gone down the same route 80% of threads go... arguing over…
  • The positive effects are endless! in fact read 25 on them right here! http://www.listafterlist.com/tabid/57/listid/16131/Health/Top+25+Positive+Effects+of+Fasting.aspx I would honestly appreciate if you used an ounce of common sense and looked into your research before making sarcastic comments mate..
  • Why on gods earth are you saying muscle cannibalisation is nonsense?? that is simply another term for your body consuming proteins from your muscle when you are on a low calorie diet or fast.. If you have honestly never heard that you loose muscle when dieting then you have no business posting in forums where a person is…
  • Sorry but that really isnt what I just said now was it... the jury is out on wether or not protein consumption during a fast slows down the rate of muscle antropy. If you are actually saying that the benefits of a water fast is "pure hockey" then you have really no clue what you are talking about and I gladly disregard…
  • Looking around online there is an incredible number of different opinions about, it seems to me like the jury is out on this one.
  • Thanks! damage limitation is exactly what I would go for if it is not completely unavoidabe
  • Bump :)
  • Hi, firstly your diet is excellent, I only looked through a couple of days but you have a great amount of protein and fruit/veg. So do not worry about diet. Secondly you already have quite a low weight so it is going to be tough to loose large number anyway, but I would highly recommend (assuming your not doing it already)…
  • Hi, it is really good to be back at that maintenance level so well done! Women natually have a hard time loosing body fat % alot more then men so it is quite a tricky task to loose that last bit of fat. I would say eat your maintenance every day but dont eat your workouts back, that will cause a deficiency each week while…
  • Oh there is definitly a "scrap" of truth in this. The fact that it will slow your metabolism down, however it will slow by such a tiny margin that as long as you stay true to a healthy overall diet you wouldnt even notice. However it is hilarious when people say it will slow to "a screeching halt".. this is the most…
  • Some really nice points being made here, very glad for the discussion guys! The main point is that noone believe it is hard to make up calories eating high calories foods. But the point was that it is actually really hard to make up calories eating nothing but what most people would consider "healthy food". I say "healthy…
  • I used to get crazy cravings at night to the point I felt like I was sweating out a coke addiction lol :). A great stratergy is to go brush your teeth! Believe me it helps and the majority of people dont want to eat just after brushing their teeth. Try it and let me know! :)
  • Never force yourself to eat, its honestly a really ridiculous thing that has come into existance by the multitudes of people who hear about starvation mode, think they understand it, and then go spread their version of starvation mode across forums. Best of luck and dont let me catch you eating spoonfuls of peantut better…
  • I know its already been mentioned, but just to point it out again, starvation mode is a myth that people throw around without truly understanding what it really is. I am 6ft 180lb male and im looking to shed fast (which I have been, 27 pounds in 9 weeks) and I am on 1400-1700 calories a day.
  • It is not that we have lost apetites, it is that we are trying to eat healthy and are fairly new to it (9 weeks for me). Because of that I, and I am sure many others, are afraid of eating things like cheese or butter or full fat milk as they sound... well fattening. It may well be that many people like myself dedicate…
  • I have grown a fear of eating any junk food to be honest. I will not eat a chocolate bar or a bag of crisps etc even if I am 600 calories under what I should be. I dont want to eat it because I am truthfully afraid of gaining weight and/or getting back into my bad habits of eating. MFP tells me that to maintain weight I…
  • This is exactly the point I wanted to make, that it is so easy to make up calories with junk but when people are having to sit and eat spoonfuls of peanut butter and other calorie dense foods for the sake of getting calories into your body when your already full, it really highlights how easy it is to be extremely low on…
  • To be healthy no, but to sculpt a body yes. Bodybuilders are extremely tight on their diet and they only eat these kind of lean meats and veg/fruit etc. They eat monumentos amounts of food because they eat these kind of foods, they could easily make their calories up in burgers, crisps and sweets. So it depends what your…
