That's not really negativity. Omitting fruit from your logging would skew the numbers, so if you're only going to pick and choose what you log, it's not going to be accurate. Best practice is to weigh and log everything you eat and drink.

Speaking from years of experience, you need to nip that snide comment making and controlling behavior before it goes any further. You are a grown adult and - provided you're not doing anything to harm yourself or others - what you do with your life is your own choice. The more you let her words determine your actions, the…

As many have already pointed out, there's no need to "detox" your body assuming your liver is in good working condition. Upping your water intake is never a bad idea though, and sometimes it helps a bit with the bloat. You might want to get really strict about your food logging and start noting what you've eaten on the…

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but if I recall from my Bill Nye watching days, infrared light is literally just light and radiation in wavelengths that are invisible to the naked human eye generated by the activity of molecules. Infrared light is literally all around us at all times because our own bodies produce…

I think as long as it's just DOMS and not a genuine injury then you're fine to do a workout today. Just make sure your muscles are well warmed up. You may even get some relief from the sore muscles out of it. I always find that going for a run on the day after leg day loosens me up a bit.

See, this would bother me if my child came home saying we could no longer eat pasta because it was "unhealthy." It's all well and good to say that the schools should be teaching healthy eating, but I think this example also shows how many problems it can cause because of the individual opinions of who is teaching the kids.
-
Yeah, I have to agree with most others here. It was taught to me in both elementary and high school years. We even had a mandatory course called "Food and Nutrition" where they taught us the basics of cooking and healthy eating. And honestly, I went to school with a lot of overweight kids and eventually ended up overweight…

Agreed, unfortunately for the most part it's the furthest thing from in some cases. Most of the gluten free breads and such are a lot lower in vitamins, not to mention usually higher in calories, than the regular breads. People have taken this whole thing and just run crazy with it.
-
Haha I know, right. Anything for people to be seen as different and unique I guess.
-
I hope so. Honestly, not really sure why people suddenly think that it's cool being allergic to something. What's next, people pretending to be diabetic? lol The condition is made to be a joke now and considered "hipster-y" and it makes it hard for everyone out there who actually does have an issue.
-
Umm yeah... they have to. If they eat gluten, they'll get super sick. I get that this was meant to be a parody, but honestly for people who are actually allergic to gluten or have Celiac it's a hard life to live.

I'm one of those daily weigh-ers as well, but it also annoys the heck out of me to see those little .2lb losses in my newsfeed consistently from the same people. But you just learn to ignore it. For my part, I've actually changed my settings so that my weigh ins don't automatically post to my newsfeed so that others don't…

... are some of your scales on carpeting or something? Because they're going to register a really off weight if they're not on a hard flat surface. Also, as others have mentioned - you really should be getting a weight and setting it on them to check if they're calibrated properly.
-
Sounds like a dream company. I'm in! When do I start? ;) lol
-
Hmm, I can see where that would come into play for sure. It's funny though, because to me it feels more alienating that they're actively choosing to make people who eat differently uncomfortable. Ah well, I'll still be there with them at the table with my own lunch so at least I'll physically be there with everyone.
-
Maybe I'm naïve, but I don't see how what I eat has anything to do with a "team" mentality. It's not like we'd all become bffs over the fact that we're eating the same crappy catered sandwiches lol.
-
Yeah, I probably should have made that clearer in the initial post. But people started replying so fast and my replies got lost lol. I didn't realize this was something people were going to have such polarized opinions on.
-
No, it was clear from the start that I had food allergies. It might have gotten buried under the posts suggesting I get a lawyer though lol. I do agree with everyone that it's best to make as few waves at possible in the corporate environment. And my original post was asking how to navigate the situation in a diplomatic…

Well this thread got a little out of hand pretty quickly lol. Yeah, I would never take this to HR let alone even a lawyer. That's overkill for sure. It's a non-issue now though anyway. They've stated they're only doing two food options (neither of which I can eat due to allergies). So I'm assuming that lets me off the…

I should probably clarify that's it's not just an issue of me being picky with my food. I have food allergies (that my work knows of) and I'm always wary of eating food that has been prepared by a chain restaurant. It's a non-issue now anyway though, we've just been told that there are only two menu options, neither of…

So by your logic I have to eat what everyone else is going to be eating (even if it makes me sick) or I'll appear judgey and overly difficult?
-
I don't think objecting to being told what to put in my body is being overly difficult. But if that's the consensus of the majority, then I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up.
-
It's not just about the healthy value of the food - as I stated earlier, a lot of the menu options they're giving make me feel very ill. And my boss is not accommodating. And I didn't "mock" anyone for the way they eat. I don't care what other people eat, I just don't want to be forced to eat food I don't want and that…
-
Yeah I suppose that's true. It's just frustrating because a lot of foods upset my stomach and at this office going out for big greasy lunches together is the only way to get ahead. It's almost like they look down on anyone making healthier choices.

I get that I can order a salad, but I don't see why I should have to get a boring salad when I could just eat my own delicious lunch. I mean, there's nothing wrong with bringing my own food and eating it at the table with them, is there?

Happy birthday! If you're a chocolate lover, I can say first hand that this "mousse" is a pretty good replacement for the real thing. Plus a serving of healthy fats :) Chocolate Avocado Mousse 1 avocado 2 tbsp agave syrup 2 tbsp vegan cocoa powder Combine ingredients in a food processor and pulse until completely smooth;…

My personal fave is Alter Eco. This one tastes like a Crunch bar and it's vegan, no soy, no GMO, and gluten free! http://www.alterecofoods.com/product/dark-quinoa/

Before I give my two cents, I have to ask. Are you cutting out gluten because the blood work has come back positive for Celiac?
-
I think it would probably help to have your diary open to the public so that we could take a peek at it to see your logging habits. Sometimes it's just a matter of too much sodium (I know that causes me to balloon out for a day or so). Are you weighing yourself first thing in the morning after using the bathroom and before…

If you can get them in your area (or aren't opposed to ordering online), I'd suggest Quest bars instead. Taste is much better IMO and at less than 200 calories and at least 20g of protein for most of the flavours they're a lot easier to fit into a day than a Cliff bar. But it's all down to your individual tastes really.
