Who would have thought weighing ice cream would be such a difficult thing to do! Lol. I actually ended up going onto Breyer's U.S. website and looked up the nutritional info there. They don't have the exact same flavor listed, but I figure their chocolate should be close enough for density, and they list 1/2 cup at 67…

I thought that as well, but once I got a food scale I realized how off the cup measurements can be. I'd like to portion by weight if possible, but if not measuring cups are close enough I suppose. It's Breyers Dark Chocolate. I can't recall the specifics of it without it here with me unfortunately. But I'll take a look for…

Hmm, that's a good idea. I'll have to take a look at that when I get home and try it that way.

That's exactly why I'm asking. The tub says 1/2 cup (150 mls). I can't figure out how the heck I'm suppose to weigh this thing without an actual weight per serving listed on the container.

This makes my heart so happy. Big geek here too :) Read pretty much everything I can get my hands on (just finished The Martian), huge Harry Potter fan, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, LotR, everything Marvel, obsessed with tabletop gaming, own a giant collection of N64 games, and am currently eagerly awaiting the…

At my work, those of us that watch what we eat just get a lot of nosy rosies telling everyone that "Oh blondewolf and her friends can't eat that because they're on a diet!" So we don't even get invited to the pizza lunches.
-
Hmm, not a bad suggestion to get an idea of the most common meals I eat. Although definitely would be a pain for daily use.

ETA: If you're going in for some sort of internal scope, anything red/yellow/orange is off the table as well because it tends to look like blood through the scope :/

I wouldn't be drinking anything that contains anything extra. They're usually pretty clear in their instructions of what you can and can't drink. Usually clear liquids are ok, but I would think this is something you should be calling your doctor's office to clarify? That's what they're there for.
-
I used to think that too, until I bought a food scale. What you eyeball as the portion size on the label isn't even close. You should get a food scale and start weighing all of your food. If you're still gaining weight, you're likely eating more than you realize.

Or proof that they've already been and messed with people's brains lol

Rude much? Not everyone had a great experience in high school and it's natural to look back on it with a bit of sadness if you didn't feel they were your best years.

I've often also wondered about a flavourless whey powder and just mixing it with water and adding some Mio or something to it. Anyone try that and have it work?
-
In for the answers. I've been looking for the same thing too.

Thanks so much for all of the advice!

I've just taken to watching Netflix on my phone while running. I know it doesn't work for other workouts, but I tend to get mental block while running if I don't distract it with a movie haha.

Pinterest! There are so many good ideas on there if you type in shredded chicken. I know it's not really soup season anymore, but this recipe is my absolute favourite. Best part is that you can make a huge batch and freeze individual portions for convenience. http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/tomato-basil-chicken-stew/

If you're just cutting down on red meat and still open to still including fish, tilapia and mahi mahi are both super high in protein (and taste fan-freaking-tastic). Do it up with some quinoa and black beans and you've got a protein packed meal without any red meat.

@Ryanstwin Then I don't understand why you even feel the need to defend your choice to a bunch of internet strangers. If you didn't like the advice we were giving, then walk away. It's your own damn body, do what you want with it.
-
@Ryanstwin Maybe she's not the only one, but she's certainly the most popular example of such YouTubers. It was her everyone else thought of. I never disagreed with your point about cutting down on meat, but you're clearly looking to pick fights about other things as well by nitpicking on this aspect of the comments.

I usually go with the "weekend only" rule and only drink with friends so that it feels like a special treat. I'm more likely to be good throughout the week if I know I'm saving up for an excellent dinner an drinks on Saturday with friends.

@Ryanstwin I never said meat or carbs were evil. Nor did I say it was a stupid idea to cut out meat. In fact, my exact words were "there's nothing wrong with eating less meat as long as you make sure to eat lots of other foods high in protein. " My beef (pardon the pun) was with you using Freelee as a positive role model.

I really like the FitnessBlender channel on YouTube. Most of their workouts can be done with little to no equipment and can be paused whenever the kiddos need something :)

Gimmick: In marketing language, a gimmick is a unique or quirky special feature that makes something "stand out" from its contemporaries. However, the special feature is typically thought to be of little relevance or use. Thus, a gimmick is a special feature for the sake of having a special feature. Please tell me how…

Freelee the banana freak is a gimmick, and if you're going to bring her in as an example your argument loses all credibility. That being said, there's nothing wrong with eating less meat as long as you make sure to eat lots of other foods high in protein.

If we're getting technical, a teaspoon is enough to drown on if it goes down the wrong way haha.
-
Ha! They're never what you think they are either. It's always something stupid like "non-organic strawberries" because oh noes! the pesticides!

That's exactly what I thought too. By putting out emails like this, they're only propagating the belief that drinking cinnamon or lemon water is necessary to "jump start weight loss" or rid the body of un-named "toxins" everyone seems to be worried about. It's one thing when the pins are added by individual readers who…
