Hi all. I've been doing the couch to 5K program for quite some time now and have made pretty decent progress. I'm considering signing up for my first 5K, but was wondering if anyone had any tips? It's not until September so I have plenty of time to make sure I'm ready. Thanks!

Get fit for the right shoes, have fun, walk through the water stations if you decide to take water

Don't eat anything too close before the race time. The adrenaline is likely to make you a bit nippier on your feet than usual, and you don't want to feel sick halfway round.

Take it slow! Being with everyone else, you'll probably run faster than your usual and end up winded halfway.
There is no shame in walking.

    1. Sign up already! :)
    2. Have fun.
    3. Just don't stop. Slow down but never stop.
    4. Drink a small cup of coffee 30 to 60 minutes before to give you a bit more energy.
    5. Pump the jams!
    6. Have fun!!!!
    7. Remember you're really just racing yourself. Don't pay attention to those passing you. Run your pace.
    8. Wear a silly hat.
    9. Smile at the finish line for photos!
    10. Have fun!

Meet and greet. Introduce yourself to your fellow racers. Always find amazing stories from other racers.

Walk if you need to, run when you can - follow your pace.

    Have fun - smile!

    Celebrate and find a 10k!
