  • Hey Shirley. I know how it feels to be discouraged by your own behaviours. I look at myself and think 'why did you let this happen? You did this'. But, I hope one day I'll be able to look in the mirror and smile when I say 'you did this', and be proud of my achievements. Right now, you're focusing on what you've done to…
  • For me, it's giving myself a solid but sensible goal. I want people to be surprised when they see me at Christmas. So, I want to lose 14lb by Christmas. I have to keep that in my mind at all times, because my proper goal weight seems so far away these days.
  • I consume a very small quantity of dairy these days. I'm 'mildly' lactose intolerant. In that I can consume cheese, but full fat milk gives me crazy stomach pains. Back when I did consume more dairy (and just put up with the pain) I also had crazy 'bacne' (back acne). I've noticed, since cutting out milk, that it…
  • One of my 'replacement' foods is Soy Bean pasta. I won't touch those 'zero' pastas, cannot stand them. But soy bean fettucini.. *swoon* It's about half the calories of regular pasta, low carb, and so incredibly filling. Definitely have sauce with it though, as it can be an acquired taste if eaten alone.
  • Hey :) You're right, that does appear to be crazy high. I walk an average of 10,000 steps a day, usually a bit more, and it commonly gives me about 300-500 extra calories a day. I'm 5'6 and weigh 110KG. If it's not giving you the right results within a couple of days, try starting from scratch, disconnect it from the app,…
  • Completely. I used to snack a lot, on sweet stuff and high fat content stuff. I recalled, one day, walking home and feeling peckish, and realising that my cravings were not for sweet stuff, or fatty stuff. I fancied some chicken breast, maybe a small portion of pasta and pesto. I started thinking about my tastebuds, and…
  • Hi Erica, If you're deficit is 500 calories daily, then your weekly deficit would be 3500, which is nicely over the 1000 deficit you referenced.
  • Whilst those who learned long ago the high sugar levels of fruit juices, do keep in mind that advertising and marketing in this day and age does well to dupe people into thinking that their drinks are super healthy. Withy so much misinformation around, it's not until some people start using MFP that they really look at the…
  • So, I have plantar fascia, caused by Posterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction. I have good days and bad, depending on how much I've pushed myself. If I hit 15,000 steps a day I start to really feel it, and I have a very high pain threshold. I've had a steroid injection done in the toe joint before. Jaysus that was painful. And…
  • From what I recall, in the UK, they usually display calories per rasher of bacon, thus making life easier, and bacon consumption easier.. *sighs happily*.. bacon..

  • hehe.. cake sandwich.. I'm not sure adding bread to your cake is going to make it healthier.. if it does, let me know, because that could solve all my problems!! But.. y'know... the cake could be a lie..
  • I suppose if depends on your definition of binge. Some people refer to just having a naughty meal as a binge. You cannot be 'good' all the time. Allow yourself some naughty every now and then, otherwise you'll fall off the wagon and feel bad all over again.
  • I weigh all my foods at raw weight, unless, on the packaging, is specifies that the nutritional information is for cooked, in which case they normally provide the weight conversion on the packaging. Usually t's rice and pasta that throw people, as the calorie information is normally for the cooked weight, and they…
  • Weirdly enough, I actually love counting calories. Because it makes me feel in control. I am in control of my health. I am proving to myself I can do this.
  • This sounds like gas pains to me. With your gallbladder you're more likely to get 'attacks' having consumed foods high in fat. And those 'attacks' would likely end you up in hospital. They're less like back ache and more like "Omg kill me to put me out of this pain".
  • Added you, I'm misslaurenavery@gmail.com
  • misslaurenavery@gmail.com I love challenges!
  • Had my gallbladder removed about 6 years ago. It had very little effect on my body afterwards, apart from not being in agonising pain! I find my milk intolerance, which was mild prior to my gallbladder removal, is a lot stronger now, so I try and avoid too much dairy, and I still try and avoid too much fat, because my body…
  • Pretty sure I'm more stretch-marks than normal skin!
  • I did for the last 6 months. It worked for me for the first few weeks, but it really is a regime that suits some people, and not others. And it just didn't suit me. It wouldn't result in binging or anything, I just don't think my non-fast days were that great, because in my head I felt I shouldn't be too concerned if I ate…
  • How long have you been doing this for? How often are you weighing yourself? And what's your body fat and muscle %? I find that when I've 'roughly' maintained, my body fat % has gone down, and my muscle % has gone up. But I'd also like to mirror what others have asked as well - are you weighing your food?
  • I had to sacrifice the lie that I was happy being the size I was.
  • Your daughter must have been really annoyed! haha. But yea, what others are saying - Log it. Seriously, type in 20 mini eggs. It makes you think more about what you're eating, and it means you can try and burn it off, or offset for the rest of the week. And allow yourself small treats. Otherwise yea, you'll binge, and then…
  • When I read the title of your post, I thought "Aww man.. that.. that's seriously tough" and I stick by it. Firstly, please ignore the posts on there that tell you to change your job. I can tell from your original post that you love your job, and if you find a job you love, stay there. Some people may not understand this,…
  • I work as a graphic designer for a contract catering company. My job is always staring at sexy photos of food. "Lauren we need more photos of sexy looking burgers" "Argh.. okay!" But, I manage to fast. I'm fasting twice a week, and even on fast days, I have to stare at those damn photos that have specifically been taken to…
  • There's been an update pushed out recently. My fitbit (Charge HR) wouldn't accept the update, and then, it stopped tracking my 'other activity'. So, I reset my fitbit and the update worked fine, and then it managed to sync everything back up. To reset your fitbit, plug it in to charge, and then hold the button down for…
  • Your macros seem WAY off. I'm 227lb at the moment, and my goals are 35g of sugar per day. Also, to reiterate others posts: Where are you getting that calorie burn from? Because thats is a huge huge amount. I could probably hit that calorie burn if I swam for three hours straight, non-stop..
  • I'm aware that there are different opinions about starvation mode, however, I stated that my post was my opinion, and I'd like to remind people to be respectful of other peoples opinions, instead of outright saying they're wrong. Especially when there are scientific studies covering either side of the argument, with no…
  • Because they're not eating ANYTHING. They're not even eating enough for the body to hold on to. Anorexics have the same problem. That's not what I'm talking about.
  • I was prescribed Orlistat for a while, by my doctors. Mainly because I'd hit a plateau, and shown that I'd lost about 2 stone already, so they were very supportive, and weren't just trying to shove me on something and get rid of me. That said, look up the side effects of Orlistat, and you might see why I stopped taking…
