  • I aim in-between 1200 and my TDEE, at about 1600. Because, learning from experience, my body hits a plateau at 1200, and I don't lose weight. But too high, and I just gain gain gain. So 1600 is a safe zone for me.
  • Well.. looking at all this, at least it doesn't have the side effects that Orlistat does!
  • Tiffany. I love you. Because you're one of those actually sensible people, who said "Sure, I'm losing weight, but this isn't the right way.." I was doing this towards the end of last year. I'm on the 5:2, so I'd have 500 calories on my fast day. But then, on my normal days, I was barely hitting 1300 calories, because…
  • Protein smoothie: One scoop chocolate protein powder Half a banana 40g Oats 300ml unsweetened Coconut milk Spinach Kale I sometimes add soaked dates, can be a bit sweet with the banana.
  • In my opinion, starvation mode is not bunk. When MFP lowered my calorie allowance down to 1200, I stopped losing weight. For 6 months. And it was horrible. I got depressed, working so hard, day in, day out. I weighed everything, took my pre-made lunches into work, cooked everything from scratch - put still stopped losing.…
  • Whenever I struggle, I take 5HTP, which helps my brain calm down from a busy day.
  • There's a lot of stats and numbers flying around, but there's one I want to know from you - What are your goal stats? Because there's a possibility that you're actually not eating enough. I had been using MFP for a while, and when you lose weight, it lowers your calorie goals. Until it lowered my goal to 1200. Boom,…
  • Londoner here - Feel free to add
  • What is it in cheese that you're allergic to? Being allergic to cheese sounds like an absolute nightmare. It's probably up there in my top 5 most feared things.
  • I've just started taking Chromium Picolinate, which apparently helps suppress sugar cravings. I have no comment on it, as only started on it today, to see what it's like.
  • I've been on the 5:2 for about 4 months, and ignoring Christmas, have lost about 21lb.
  • This has happened to me after a fast day. I went into the supermarket to get breakfast, on the way to work, with the idea that I would just grab 'something'. Foolish foolish Lauren.. That 'something' was two pain au raisin and a pain au chocolate. Bam, only 200 calories left for the day! Haven't made that mistake again,…
  • Ice, and wet leaves.. Ugh.. my feet are like a magnet to them, until I tread on them, then my feet are like banana peels to them. Just started walking 4 miles a day, to and from the train station for work - my partner sent me a msg telling me to make sure I walk on the bus route. And get this - not because he was worried…
  • I've done some googling, and apparently, the average food craving only actually lasts for 3 minutes. I should point out I don't know if this is true, but thats because I use liquids to stop mine. Although, if I'm REALLY craving chocolate, and it happens multiple times in a day, I'll have one square of Dark Chocolate with…
  • How many calories in that wafer thin mint deary?
  • How much water are you drinking? I found that something similar happened because I wasn't drinking anywhere near what I needed to. I started drinking electrolyte drinks at the gym, and drinking squash in water after, up to about 10 pints, and my cravings for bad food stopped.
  • My colleague showed me a bottle of smoothie she was drinking, talking about how healthy she was being. I asked how much sugar was in it, and she said "I dunno, it doesn't say!" - well it did say, she did't understand that sugar was part of carbohydrates - 45g of sugar. In a 330ml drink. So I said "Oh yea, look, it's 45g"…
  • Smoothies don't have to be bad. It is all about what you put in them. And a small amount of sugar isn't wrong either. Just make sure you weigh everything you put in - Half a banana could be anything from 30g - 90g! My favourite smoothie is: Coconut Milk - 300ml Spinach - handful Porridge oats - 20g Chocolate protein powder…
  • The only way I log my exercise is through my heart rate monitor. I actually realised I was eating too little, because the machines at the gym had me at, lets say, a 200 calorie burn on the bike, when in fact, it was 400. At the end the gym session, Id think I'd burnt 400, when in fact it was 800, and my body wasn't being…
  • You need to give a lot more detail to get an answer. And for those who think just eating less is the answer. It isn't always the answer. I plateaued for 6 months because MFP suggested I go down to 1200 calories a day. Didn't lose any weight on that. Back on 1500, and I'm losing again.
  • Your daily goal of calories is 1200. There will be a lot of people on this site that don't agree you should go that low, regardless of what MFP says. Personally, I don't lose weight on 1200. I do lose weight on 1500. Sometimes you need to eat more to lose more.
  • I've been on the 5:2 for about 4 months. Blipped over Christmas, but lost about a stone and a half on it so far. I had just used the 'eat healthy and exercise' method of healthy eating, however I hit a plateau that latest about 6 months, so felt the need to kick-start my body back into losing. Porridge is probably the best…
  • Bandana Cowl (Pattern from Purl Soho) Finished yesterday, been wearing it ever since. I love it!
  • Londoner here! Feel free to add me you lot!
  • My SO and I have been eating separate meals for the last few years now, and it instantly solved any issue surrounding this subject. The main issue was quantity. If he was cooking, he'd cook two of what he considers to be portions. He's a bodybuilder, so has a lot of carbs, and always burns it off. Whereas what he'd put on…
  • Thank you for your advise, and the link. It's much appreciated! x
  • Major thanks to all you guys, sorry if I've missed a quote or two. I knew something wasn't right. Whilst the scales looked good, I knew that I wasn't doing things the right way! I haven't been recording my weight daily, I record on a Friday, and usually see a 4lb loss for the week. But it looks like I need to be eating at…
  • Even if I wasn't gaining though, should I be maintaining on 1500? Is that okay? If so, then great, I'll keep doing what I'm doing. There's just a little voice in the back of my head saying somethings not right with what I'm doing.
  • I seem to be gaining on the days I'm not fasting, usually the weekend. I'm gaining back a 1lb or 2lb that I've lost from that week. I'm not cheating at the weekends, I'm refusing the pizza that gets offered at friends houses, I'm behaving myself.
  • Hello! I'm not going to outright say no. Good choice for what? Does the sugar in the juice fit into your allowance? Are you measuring it out, or drinking an entire carton? Tropicana now do a reduced sugar version, but even that still has sugar in it. I'm not saying avoid all fruit juice forever. But remember that even…
