I realized that I looked bigger wearing bigger clothes so when something looks like it's hanging on me, I get rid of it. I have been shopping consignment stores and Goodwill. Have been able to get 3 pairs of pants and 6 or 7 shirts for about $70. One shirt was the right size but didn't fit well so I spent $10 to have it…

I'm right there with you. I had RNY about 3.5 years ago and despite losing almost 170 lbs., it's the last 40 that are driving me crazy. I visited with my surgeon and he gave me information (from their in-house nutritionist) about intermittent fasting. He gave me a handout but I found some info here,…

September 25th will be 2 weeks after my next surgery to remove excess skin from my drastic weight loss. I've lost a total of 172 pounds from my highest weight (had gastric by-pass surgery). I have 9 pounds to lose in 11 weeks before surgery but really hoping to lose closer to 15. After surgery, I should be around 220 which…

I had gastric bypass November 2010. Still trying to lose some so I can have a second plastic surgery to remove excess skin. Add me if you like!

Saving for the weekend when I have a free moment to read your blog!! Big girl runners unite!!

In the same boat both age and weight to lose! Will add some of you over the weekend when I have a free moment or two -- feel free to add me!!

I put on a XL polo work shirt this morning after not wearing it all winter. . .and it's too big!!! I wore it today to remind me of how far I've come. Yesterday, my "smaller" dress pants were too big as well! Can't tell you how exciting that is for me!!!!! Embarrassed but willing to admit to the MFP community that some of…

A newborn calf and a bar of gold. . . interesting combination. That is how much I've lost since my highest weight which is not what I use on MFP. It also equal to a little more than SIX CINDER BLOCKS used in construction. The thought of carrying 6 cinder blocks stuns me -- and makes me wonder how I ever got around at that…

A photo of my son. . . being healthy means keeping up with him!!

I found Spinning and other classes at my gym that I like including the instructors. And by going to the same classes, I see the same people and we motivate each other. I also have found a co-worker to walk with -- we have the same pace so we are good walking partners. We schedule a time to walk each week. Having someone…

Frequent consignment stores along with Goodwill. And I typically have only a few pairs of pants at a time since I hope to move through the size quickly -- a good pair of black slacks, blue slacks and jeans are must-haves.

I like Body Pump. When I started, I was as sore and in pain as you described. And it does get easier/better. I just did a 60 minute spin class follow by Body Pump. A year ago I would have fallen out -- today I came home and started the laundry! Keep with it!!!

I'll join in for loose pants Friday -- I put on stretchy pants so I could pull them up to my knees while getting a pedicure -- well, they used to be so tight it was gross and today they are baggy!!!

My nutritionist thought I may be having a hard time losing weight because I was on Depo Provera. Went the Mirena route and I was able to lose. I could kick myself for not doing it sooner just because it's soooo much easier than remembering to make a shot appt. every 12 weeks (which isn't 3 months, fyi).

My favorite visual is that a cinder block weighs 25 pounds. After having lost a total of more than 150 pounds (from my highest) I can't imagine that I was carrying 6 cider blocks worth of weight!

Mom to an active 7-year old. I also work full time and am in school and when I get a free minute I continue looking for a new job! Feel free to add me as well -- love the idea of having more mommies as motivation!!!

I go to the gym to see familiar faces of others who are trying to be healthy like I am. I have a small talk with myself and say that I have the choice to listen to the "angel" or the "devil". No one else is putting food in my mouth. I distract myself with tinkering around the house -- trying to catch up on laundry, reading…

It may be a habit rather than an addiction. When we celebrate, grieve, go out with friends, etc. we EAT. When someone loses a loved one we feed them. . . it's ingrained in us. When I find my thoughts wandering to "do I have a snack within reach" I try to refocus and redirect my attention by either getting up from my desk…

The last time I was in Catherine's shopping, I told the sales lady that I had lost a lot of weight but because I was in several different sizes depending on brand, cut, etc. she reminded me that they carry size 14/16 -- so, if you like the cut better of the plus size clothes, and you can wear 14/16, you may want to give…

Limbo for sure. I bought a suit jacket at a consignment store in a regular size but need pants two sizes bigger right now. And I can fit into 18/20 in the "regular" sizes at JCPenney but bought a 1x sweater from the plus size section that is too small. I have to try on everything. Find a few key pieces and jazz them up…

I work at a college and in Campus Dining, one person is the point person to talk about making healthy choices in the dining hall. She gives students lots of ideas on how to fill up and make good choices despite the fact that the dessert bar is always open!! See if your Campus Dining services has a person like this to help…

Our Spinning classes are 60 minutes. I also wear a Heart Rate Monitor and if the class has been challenging, I can burn up to 1000 calories (partly because I weigh more). Give several more tries including going to different instructors. My gym has about 6 trainers who teach the class but I don't prefer all of their styles…

One of the class instructors at the gym said I was shrinking in my clothes! I actually have weighed the same for about 2 months but my clothes are looser because I'm back to a better strength routine. I'm trying not to hyper-focus on the scale but more on how I look and feel!
-
Can someone remind me how to add friends? I'm still trying to make my way around all of the great stuff on MFP!

I wore my heart monitor and used Endomondo the other day to see how accurate Endomondo was. It was much more accurate in my calories burned than the treadmill has been. There was only about a 30 calorie difference where the treadmill/Endomondo combination can have a difference of over 100 calories. If you are looking for a…

Within eyesignt from walking out the front door of my gym - Applebee's - Papa Johns - Jimmy Johns (I wonder if they are cousins??) - KFC/Taco Bell which is right smack dab next to the gym - McDonalds - Arby's - Jumbo China - Burger King - Qudoba - Jasmine Mediterranean I drive home the opposite way and am only taunted by…

We all have our days and even weeks of low periods but the important thing is to keep focus on the big picture -- when I am feeling stuck at a point, I pull out the biggest pants I've ever worn and step into them to remind myself of how far I've come. Then I have a little talk with myself and get right back into the swing…
