  • Oh, I'm sure you have an accent  OP, all you can suggest is that she contacts the relevant local (ie. canadian ) authorities. If she won't do that that, I would be fairly blunt and say "talk to whoever you want, just don't give ANY more money to anyone."

  • Sure, just about every day (nearly 600 days so far). It means I've never yet had to post a thread entitled "OMG I have 600 cals left to ea at 10pmt" or "OMG, it's lunchtime and I don't have any calories left".
  • Because I'm smart enough to choose a healthier option at a restaurant (if I choose to) and I'm sure you would be too if you stopped panicking and took the time to think about the menu. There will be lots of occasions in your life when no one is standing next to each food item with a nutritional breakdown - treat it as a…
  • Kj = kilojoules - used in many parts of the world, just not the US. To convert from kj to cals, divide by 4.2, so if a product contains 1000kj, that equals 239 cals.
  • Sure, have a look at my profile - C25K got me off the couch and running. I started in January last year and just ran my first half marathon last weekend. Really though, the biggest change was eating less junk, as well as exercising regularly.
  • Mine haven't fallen off but they have got really bruised and the nail has separated from the bed in the past. Since I have new shoes I've had a bit of bruising in really long runs (ie. half marathon) but the mnils haven't gone weierd again. I think the difference is that these shoes are longer so there is more toe room.
  • I started running at just over 200 pounds - but I've never run 7 days a week, I don't think that's necessary or very smart for anyone unless you have a very specific reason to do it. I'd suggest that you start running whenever you feel good doing it, but alternate it with some other forms of exercise so your body gets a…
  • It's a habit now, and takes only a few minutes a day if you do it regularly. But, if you find it a chore, don't do it - find another system that works better for you. PS. Protein only days? Why?
  • At the risk of stating the obvious...coffee?
  • Healthy foods and low calorie foods aren't necessarily the same thing. Eat real food, not diet food and you won't have any trouble reaching your cals. Here's some examples of what I mean by healthy foods: Eggs, salmon, rice, red meat, olive oil, avocado, cheese, Greek yoghurt, dark chocolate, nuts. Easy!
  • I don't bother about logging vitamins, though I know they do have a few calories. I just work on the theory that the things that I underestimate probably balance out the things that I overestimate. Really though, I'm just too lazy!
  • I travel across Australia pretty regularly so I have a standard Qantas meal saved in "my meals". It's a generic chicken curry and white rice, cheese and crackers and red wine (gotta love flights with free wine!). Usually I add this ahead of time so I can see how my day is looking, then just use my iPhone in aeroplane mode…
  • If you really want a tattoo in a language you can't understand, then I would spend the money on a professional interpreter to ensure that it's correct. I would not trust a random online person for something so permanent. And check that your tattoo artist gets it right too....
  • Nope, rice is a food, it isn't "good" or "bad". If you eat it regularly, that's fine - just pay attention to how much you are eating and make sure that the rest of your diet contains lots of veggies and some protein and fruit - you want to aim for a variety of foods and for some balance in your macros (carbs, protein, fat).
  • It's flavoured water - just like a diet soft drink. It's up to you to decide if that is something you want to drink or not. I wouldn't, but I don't like the taste of artificial sweeteners so I suspect I wouldn't like this stuff.
  • I'm pretty sure your labelling laws in the US allow manufacturers to state zero cals if the serving size has under 5 cals. So, you're right, there may be close to zero cals in one serve but it almost certainly contains some calories.
  • Just take a guess - if I only ate at "restaurants" that provided calorie info I would be stuck with McDonald's, KFC and Dominoes, and that's not going to happen! There will be lots of occasions in your life when you eat something without nutritional info (eating at a friends house as one example). Don't stress about it,…
  • You're 17, active and a healthy weight (probably at the low end of healthy for your height). I'm guessing that you should be eating more than 1600 to support your developing body and brain.
  • I'm not surprised - you're eating 900 - 1200 cals a day, consisting mostly of sugar (your shake, fruit, juice etc is pretty much sugar) with a little bit of protein and veg for dinner. There is nothing of substance to make you feel satisfied - I would be as hungry and grumpy as a big bear after a few days if that kind of…
  • It's a very reasonable amount - that's pretty much what I ate to lose 20 kg last year. And that was 1660 NET calories - so that meant I was actually eating 1660 plus a couple of hundred extra for exercise. In my opinion 1200 calories is foolishly low and unsustainable - unless you are 4'5".
  • Look for entries with no * in front. These have been entered by MFP, I think they are based on USDA data. And you're right, it has to be "user-beware" for any other entries - that's the blessing and the curse of datbase that is largely user-entered, you get a great range of products but it is inevitable that some of them…
  • Eeeeuuuwww, I'm with you, I have shivers down my spine just reading that? I hope it spontaneously curls up and dies - but somewhere that you can see it so you know it's dead.
  • It doesn't matter - use whichever suits you best and search in the database for raw, cooked, steamed, baked etc. Many people say that measuring things raw is "correct" - but as most of the items in the database are user-added, there is no way to know whether zn item is raw or cooked unless it is in the description.
  • My best suggestion is to plan your meals for the day - if you enter them in your diary ahead of time you can see how many cals you have in there and it's easier to add something extra to each meal than to get to the end of the day with too many calories left over.
  • I couldn't finish day one either. That was January 2011. Yesterday I completed a half marathon. Just keep at it.
  • hooray, me too :)
  • Do you honestly think she hasn't noticed that she is putting on weight? Anyone who says "why did no one tell me?" is just deluding themselves and looking for someone else to blame. I don't think you should say anything - be open (but not pushy) about what you are doing and wait until sh eis ready.
