It's not impossible to lose weight if you undereat but it is really taking risks with your health and wellbeing - you can end up with nutritional deficiencies because you aren't eating enough, and you may find that you don't have enough energy to keep doing all the things you want to do in your day. And if you REALLY…

That's OK, just have a few sips lots of times during the day and it will add up.

Toast. It's the one thing I can always eat, even if I'm feeling queasy. Peanut butter and banana is a good addition if you can stomach it.

There is no "right" way to lose weight or get fit. Pick something that works for you and stick to it. For ever.

Me too :)

Ex husband: he was a patient in hospital and I was a student. We started dating the day after my student prac ended! New (and much nicer) husband: match.com

No, don't tell him that... just quietly do your 30 mins  The warm up and cool down are good habits to get into - enjoy your running.

I wish I was so lucky! Back to topic, I find that having coffee and a snack before I workout keeps me going. Usually I have fruit because it doesn't make me feel weighed down. For long runs I usually have an english muffin and peanut butter which gives me a bit more sustained energy. If you want to cut down the…

I estimate that I burn about 10 cals/minute running and 5 cals/minute brisk walking - so if I'm wondering about a calorie number that seems to high or low I compare it to these numbers. For me, 550 cals in 40 mins would be a really high burn, but depending on your current weight, level of fitness and exertion level it's…

Sure.. within reason. I tend to pay more attention to the weekly total than daily (the iPhone app makes it easy to see these numbers) as it accounts for the different things that happen in my life which affect how much I eat from day to day.

MFP estimates your calorie burn. Your HRM estimates your calorie burn, but it has a but if extra data to work with (maybe, it depends on your HRM, not all of them use heart rate to determine calories). The only thing you can do is pick an estimate and use those numbers for a month or so. See how your weight loss progresses…

I've had a neuroma removed from my right foot and have others developing in the other metatarsals now. The best thing to control the pain is good shoes - for me that means shoes that are very wide in the the toe box and with good cushioning under the forefoot. Unfortunately it means that most nice looking shoes are out -…

Fantastic! Beginners tip: Run SLOWly. Build up your distance, don't worry about speed yet.

If you're not low on anything, don't waste your money on vitamins - spend it on fresh food instead.
-
Ask your doctor to check your general health and then if you find out that you are deficient in something you can supplement it. Otherwise you are most likely (literally) flushing your money down the toilet.

I'm not American - but I'll give you an answer anyway! If you're talking liquid then it's 250ml (Australia) or 8oz (US). Solids are harder - because not everything weighs the same per cup, it's a measure of volume not of weight. So, a cup of flour means a 250ml cup full of flour - whatever that weighs.

Pronouncing it as proNOUNciation is even worse.

It's been Friday for more than 14 hours.... I repeat - catch up!!

It's Friday where I am!! Catch up people!

Well done for deciding to make some positive changes to be a great example for your son as he grows up. Don't feel you have to change everything at once - watching the portion sizes of what you are eating now is a great place to start. Adding in a bit more exercise is good too - take your little one for a walk, dance…

Yes!!! It gets better. I used the C25K program to start running last year. The first day called for 8 x 1 min intervals of running with walks inbetween. I could only manage 6 running intervals before I thought I was going to die. But, I kept going and did a little bit more each day and each week. Two weeks ago (about 18…

I can understand that.... but be kind to yourself, you've been sick, so you have to make sure that you are giving your body good nutrients to help it heal so you can get back to being as active as you want to be. Don't think of calories as a problem, think of them as medicine that is going to help you get back on your feet…

From the MFP FAQ's (there is a LOT of useful stuff in there!): Doesn't strength training burn calories? Why don't you show any calories burned for strength training? Estimating the calories burned from strength training is very difficult because it depends on a variety of factors: how much weight you lifted per repetition,…

I agree, there is a world of difference in knowing what to do and actually do it. If we could all do what we know we should do - none of us would be overweight! If you are happy with your goals, then perhaps you need to rethink your strategies for getting there - starving yourself and developing a fear of food is NOT going…

That's the great thing about MFP - it is a good tool to use to set yourself up with a moderate calorie deficit so you can lose weight without feeling deprived. Try eating the numbers MFP has suggested for a month and you will be able to see for yourself how it is working out for you. If you have lost a whole lot more or…

I suggest that you start looking at your meals earlier in the day and add a few extra cals in there. That way you won't feel like you are "forcing" yourself to eat at the end of the day just to reach a healthy amount of energy. Not that there is anything wrong with eating late in the day, but that doesn't sounds like a…

Perhaps it's time to rethink your goals - we (almost!) all want to see a smaller number on the scales but that isn't the only measure of being healthy and fit and looking good. Level of fitness, measurements, general health are all good measures of "success" - and those things won't happen unless you give your body some…

I think everyone is suited to different kinds of sports and activities, but I do think that most people can run if they want to. So, if you WANT to run - keep going with C25K but run much more slowly. That's been the key for me - I don't run fast but I can run a long way if I just go at a comfortable (slow) pace. If you…

Congratulations, you've just learn that losing weight doesn't have to mean deprivation! Try these numbers out for a month or so and if you aren't losing then you could drop a little, but as you're breastfeeding, I'd encourage you to eat what is recommended at this point, you don't want to risk your baby's health or…

If you are desperate for carbs... Eat them. Simple. Just make sure you are getting a balance of food on your diet, I seriously doubt that a bowl of pasta is going to reverse everything you've done in the past few weeks or months.
