  • Feel free to add me!!
  • Thanks everyone for your comments and resources - this is so helpful. So I've just updated my goals to decrease my carbs to 25% and increase my protein to 50%, which is about 0.7 grams of protein per pound of my current body weight (which is a lot of protein!). I think I'll try it out for a few weeks and see how it goes. I…
  • Check out their website: http://www.genuinehealth.com/weight-loss
  • One suggestion I've heard people say is to drink a really large amount or water, or some coffee, tea or diet soda and then wait 15 minutes. If you still want something after that, then have a reasonable snack. So much easier said than done. Or you can try to get to the bottom of your binges by identifying the triggers that…
  • I know I'm not in your exact situation, but I had gastric banding in 2006 and so I know that what works for a lot of other people doesn't apply as much to those who have already had a surgical procedure. Have you tried any supplements to boost your metabolism? I have been trying out a product called MPOWER over the last…
  • I don't know, but this is a problem I desperately need to solve for myself. I'd be really grateful for advice or suggestions on how people have overcome this. I know a lot of people suggest journalling, but it's not something I've been able to incorporate into my life.
  • Great work - you must be super proud! Keep at it!
  • I'm not - but I've heard it is very very good for you.
  • I want all of these too! Plus one more - I want the people I love and care about to feel proud of me once I get there!
  • Me too!!! Kinda grim to say it, but sometimes I really wish I could take a butcher knife and just chop it off!!!
  • Agreed - you don't want to use too much glycogen prior to starting your circuit/strength/resistance training. 10 to 15 minutes of cardio as a warm up is fine, but you probably don't want to exceed that. I usually do 10 minutes with my trainer. Best to focus on cardio on the days you're not doing circuit/strength/resistance…
  • @monkeyboy881 - it's true that fresh and/or organic foods and gym memberships are expensive. However - canned and frozen fruits and veggies, beans (legumes) and canned chicken and tuna etc are all fairly economical. Take advantage of your break in employment to learn how to make foods that are cheap and healthy. Also,…
  • If you don't have a physical issue preventing you from exercising, I don't see why you can't. While you're off work, doing things like some light exercise, dancing or yoga, may help you keep the weight off and help decrease your stress/anxiety levels. I know when I'm stressed out l like to do kickboxing - I love the…
  • Hi - count me in! My highest ever weight was 374, am currently hovering around 260, but can't get the scale to move in the right direction. I'm eating well, exercising, trying to get more water and sleep, and nothing seems to be working. Clearly I'm going to need all the help I can get if I want to meet my ultimate goal of…
  • Cottage cheese! Celery with a bit of peanut butter! Flavoured snack size tuna cans. All good options!
  • Kerry - what weight of kettlebell are you using?
  • This is a great breakfast: 1 serving of plain non-fat Greek yogurt, 5 oz of blueberries, 6 chopped almonds and a teaspoon of flaxseed. Add sweetner to taste (I usually use one Splenda packet). Super yummy, no fat, low carb and lots of protein!
  • I'm in! I don't remember the last time I weighed less than 200, but damn it I really want that right now!!
  • Ahhh if only I had known this before, I would have filled my tub with Dawn and spent every evening soaking it in
  • Hi - I'm lap banded too, but I find it didn't really work for me. I lost a bunch of weight pre-op and right after the surgery but that's about it. I've really struggled with reflux when I get the band tightened, so I can't keep it too tight. If I knew it would come back down to go old diet and exercise, I would have saved…
