Me too. I do so much better when I'm able to eliminate certain foods from my diet. I really can't eat just one or two.

When you were a kid your phone number had a letter prefix, like the number in "Sorry, Wrong Number" (Murray Hill 35097).

I agree that they should have noticed, and there often is a line on the form filled out before the appointment asking about rapid or exceptional weight loss or gain. But why didn't you mention it? If you're concerned, go see a doctor. If you're worried about being anxious, make a list of all the topics you want the doctor…

I'm not speaking to the OP's case, but the above statement is inaccurate. A 5'2" 90 pound woman is not necessary underweight. It depends on her bone structure, age, weight history, activity level, and other factors.

5' 2"

I agree with most of this, but there are occasionally posts by people who are expressing a position different from the majority that is based on their own experience in successfully maintaining or losing their weight. Those people are drowned out by the clamor as well.

90 was a perfectly healthy weight for me.
-
Oh, a FOOD scale. Well, then, I'd recommend a PrecisionPro. I bought one from Amazon for about $25.
-
I know you don't want to spend a lot of money, but a scale with a body fat and muscle estimating function is very helpful. Maybe you could get one at a reduced price on eBay or used? I had a Tanita scale, but a relative gave me her old Omron scale, which, in addition to foot pads, has hand sensors. It gives me a higher…

Monitor your weight, muscle mass, energy and strength levels and decide whether it's working. Some dietitians are not up to date or not qualified to advise people with specific needs, such as training for a demanding sport.
-
Those are guidelines. They don't apply to everyone. I'm 5'2" and 109 for me is uncomfortably high.
-
I'm 5' 2" and when I was young I was 90, sometimes a little under or a little over. There was nothing wrong with my metabolism and 90 pounds was fine for my frame. I was healthy and had a fine energy level. If you have questions, see a doctor. BTW, as you age, your metabolism will slow down so enjoy it while it lasts.

A food scale. Because restricting calories is more important for weight loss than exercise. A heart rate monitor, however, is a great tool for tracking general cardio fitness and while doing intervals, although many machines have built in HRMs.
-
These numbers can never be completely accurate. Most people consume more calories than they think and burn less than they believe during exercise. I would not eat more unless I was extremely hungry and lacked energy. Weigh yourself frequently and make adjustments.
-
I don't think that you're underweight at 102. It would depend entirely on your build.
-
I would stay away from the "Redemption" narrative. Sure, it might momentarily feel good because it's dramatic but part of you realizes that you're over-reacting. But being more or less consistent is boring and rather hard.
-
Start by being realistic. Can you get there three times a week? Three times is better than zero. Most people report better success if they go in the morning. Try to go three times a week and to walk briskly for at least 20 minutes on the other days. Aim for a good workout, not a perfect one. Focus on how you feel…

Has happened to me several times.

Many can look trashy. I've read articles on body art, etc., but I can't get past my overwhelmingly negative associations. When I grew up, the only men who had tattoos had been in the Navy and were drunks. The only women who had them were in carnival sideshows. I don't understand how something that is supposed to be a mark…
-
That's hysterical. People who supposedly worship individuality are denying you yours? If you're not so inclined, don't get tattoos. There's going to be a lot of buyer's remorse in the next 30 years.

I look at my historically lowest weight (88), the weight I maintained in my 20s (low to high 90s) and the weight I've found it easiest to maintain in the last five years (low 100s). Since I've had a scale that estimates body fat percentage, I also look at that. It is harder to maintain my weight as I get older, but I'm…
-
I agree. Short of surgery, the best thing to do is to learn to dress for your shape.
-
When I was in college I went down to 88. I hated the food. I still had a butt, although it was smaller and every trace of cellulite I had was gone. I didn't have curvy thighs back then. I agree that shape is created by muscle and that if you have areas in which your body deposits disproportionate amounts of fat you…

Increase your calories, but be conservative, otherwise, the next thing you know you'll be back to your old habits. I personally would not eat if I'm not hungry, have energy, and seem to be healthy. I would wait to see if I actually continued to lose weight.
-
I lose as much fat as I can and avoid direct weight resistance on my lower half. The best I can achieve is to make myself a smaller pear-shape. As I age it gets even harder because my hormone profile has changed and my body wants to deposit even more fat to my hips and butt. When I was younger, I didn't have curvy hips.…

I don't want to be judged, but even more important is I believe in privacy. Since you've raised this, I don't understand the couple (guy and gal) photos, although I assume the member is usually the woman.
-
I don't think it should be vilified, either. I keep track of several relevant measures. I get tired of people who blame the scale when they should be blaming their habits. They avoid the scale, thus avoiding feedback, and their situation stays the same, or even worsens. I also think that some people overestimate their…

It depends on how you define "fast." Most people who are fasting for weight loss are not eating nothing. Rather, they're eating very few calories, for example, 500 calories for women. I've always read that it is not medically necessary to cleanse the body, but if eating a limited but healthy diet for a period of time helps…

No, it's not. It's a valid measure, although there are others. It's certainly the most accessible to the average person. If you lose weight you lose inches somewhere.
