  • Ask to get your thyroid checked, amongst other things it can cause serious hair loss. That's my personal favourite hypothyroidism symptom, and I was amazed how quickly my hair stopped falling out once I was on stabilised meds. Always worth getting stuff like this checked out by your doc :) Hopefully it'll be nothing…
  • 21 and trying to lose around 20, feel free to add me if you want, always happy to support.
  • Just do it, seriously. Just go for it, there's no real technique to starting running. Make sure you've got properly fitted shoes, and if you respond best to training plans try something like couch to 5k, or similar and just head out there and do it :) Good luck! And you're more than welcome to add me if you want some…
  • This. Yes. Exactly. That picture has taken two extreme examples of two body types. That larger girl said she posted it on Tumblr, I have an account on there and you'll find a HELL of a lot of people bigging up girls with abs (and I mean, good for them, the effort to get them is insane!), you also get little anonymous…
  • I did my first half marathon in September last year and I started training in April. I was fit, but I could barely run for 90 seconds without feeling like I was going to die. I had injuries, and a few weeks off, I still ran the whole thing (very slowly; 12 minute miles), but I did it. It is doable, just be strict with your…
  • Food. Bring her food. Lots of food. When I completed my first half marathon my Mum cooked me a full roast dinner. It was amazing. Or some sort of commemorative token about what she's achieved, so a necklace/medal/bracelet/sticker like the others have said. But seriously, food.
  • Go get fitted properly. You might not actually need to fork out for expensive shoes. I started running a little under a year ago and got some Nike trainers, on sale, for £80 (not sure what that is in $, sorry!), when I went to get some new ones in September I got fitted and it turned out because I have stupidly high arches…
  • Yeah she's referring to hypothyroidism. Weight gain is the most common symptom associated with it, but it comes with other delightful symptoms like body temp not regulating properly, fatigue, difficultly losing weight and my personal favourite is hair falling out. I got diagnosed just over a year ago and I've been on…
  • I don't know if it counts as modern pop, but I LOVE working out to Florence & The Machine. Shake it Off is my personal favourite :)
  • In April I started running, and could barely manage 90 seconds running straight. By May I could run about 2 miles without stopping, and 2 weeks ago I ran my first half marathon in 2.5 hours (no walking at all). You'll get there, it just takes time and dedication and patience to build up your endurance :)
  • I'd go to the doctor to be honest. I'm a regular runner and put in a lot of milage, and a few aches and pains are fairly standard, but if after a month off it comes back like that it's probably not something completely minor. If it's localised pain however, chances are it's just muscular, but if you press on bones outside…
  • If I'm interpreting the question right, I use the Nike+ app on my iPod. It tracks your distance throughout your run and keeps you updated with how far you have left to run. It's pretty handy :)
  • Blue cheese hands down. Or just any cheese in general to be honest. Except Swiss cheese, which I am less keen on. My favourite cheese however is goats cheese with cranberries. Cannot be beaten.
  • @crush86 you are beautiful! And your progress is inspiring :)
  • This was pretty much me! So I started eating more, and I've been dropping weight again, for pretty much the first time in September. It's different for everyone of course, and it'll take different time frames for different people's body's adjusting too it. Best plan is to step away from the scale for a while and go with…
  • Step away from the scales for a while, and eat a bit more. I used to eat a maximum of 1200 a day religiously, only recently have I started eating back my exercise calories. I still have a way to go, but now I always eat back at least half. At first, your weight will go up a little bit, because that's your body readjusting,…
  • Actual job: Hotel room attendant (fancy way of saying cleaner....) Dream job: Property developer/photo-therapist/interior designer/Events organiser I still have a year left of uni though so hopefully I'll land one of the dream jobs :)
  • Oh my days this! I've been hearing it so much recently and it winds me up so much!
  • Don't do yourself down over it! Everyone gets off track sometimes :) I personally comfort eat like a boss when I get really upset or stressed out, for instance recently my best friend was hospitalised and was very seriously ill. This led to me eat nothing but utter junk for about 10 days, and I barely moved from my desk…
  • Hiya, I'm 20! (21 soon D:), and my story's basically the same, except I'm nearly at my target. But even when I do reach that (which I've been trying to do for 8 months now, it's not easy to shift these last few), I want to stay using here to make sure I keep my fitness up and don't let my habits slip and gain back all the…
  • I get this ALL the time. Does my nut in. I also get from a 'friend' 'Why the hell do you count calories/weight stuff out?! What's the point?! Why do you care?! What difference does it make?!" Well for one it prevents me from having about THREE portions of cereal for breakfast instead of the recommended portion like she…
  • I'm a veg head too :) Have been for over 4 years now, feel free to add me! I don't know if I have any veggie friends actually!
  • I don't have any personal experience of it, but my best friend had her gall bladder removed late last year due to gallstones, which she had for probably a good 6 to 8 months before having it removed. She found that certain food made the pain worse for her, it was usually stuff like cheese, or ice cream or particularly…
  • Soup! :) I'm forever making batches of soup and freezing them, plus the possibilities are endless for flavours, and veg are pretty cheap :D
  • Thanks for the input guys! :) I reckon I'll start trying for 1300 a day and see where that gets me, and then speak to my dr next week when I get my blood test results back, see what she makes of it all :) Hopefully they'll get my meds sorted out soon enough so that I can actually start loosing weight again!
  • From York originally, but split my time between there and Carlisle for uni! :) Feel free to add me, always happy to have new friends! :D
  • Sorry if this has already been posted but; I find when you brew green tea, you should only do it for like, 15 seconds and that way it's not as strong or as bitter (I guess it's just personal preference though). Can't say I've noticed a massive difference in weight loss though unfortunately, but I only have one big mug at…
  • People who don't wipe down their equipment after using it! So, SO gross! :\
  • I'm hypo too, but not having too much trouble loosing weight. You could try upping your calories a bit like so many other suggested, but try talking to your doctor about what you need for you :) There's a group for people with hypothyroidism btw :) Quite a few people on there, feel free to add me too, always looking for…
