How long have you been eating at 1520 a day? If it was working before and you've only recently stopped seeing results, you may have just hit a plateau. You could try changing up your routine a little bit. It's also possible you're underestimating how much you workout and as you don't count your workout calories, you can't…

Spot on, great advice, and thank you so much for that last tip about Subway. On the odd occasion that I go to Subway, I like to get my monies worth and fill that sucker to overflowing but I would never have thought to ask them to hollow out the bread!

I can understand the frustration. I don't like the word skinny at all, let alone skinny fat, because of the way the word is misused. I personally feel "skinny" and "fat" are opposite extremes, perhaps not equally unhealthy but definitely not healthy. Skinny doesn't mean slim, willowy, graceful. It means awfully thin, skin,…

Ahhh, I'd been feeling like I'd forgotten something all afternoon and here it is! I'm such a muppet. My total so far is 32.
-
You may think that would be a sign but I'd worn through two pairs of trousers without ever considering that the problem may have been my enormous thighs. In my mind it was no different than if they'd worn out at the knees. All material wears out eventually. Shrug. Replace. I started knuckling down and making an effort when…

Clocked in another 20 this week. Feeling quite pleased with that.

This entire thread is reminding me of Carl Barron. "I was walking down the street and a girl came up to me and told me that I got no *kitten*. She didnt say it was small or flat, she just said "no *kitten*". So I farted. Where do you think that came from?"

I'm sorry for your loss. When my Rex died a few years back I was heartbroken and didn't think I'd ever have another dog again. I hadn't realised quite how miserably lonely I'd become without a four legged fiend padding around the house until I looked after a friend's ailing spaniel. He needed a few months of close…

I say have a couple of cookies. If you haven't been logging any of your exercise then you've more than earned them already, I reckon you should think about logging some of it so that your "daily calorie allowance" is more accurate.

Absolutely. I'm trying to increase my fitness for my greyhound. He's brilliant and I love him to pieces but he's not into the things I like to do, he's not interested in chasing a ball, he can't be trusted to run sensibly alongside my bike, he's not a great swimmer. All he wants to do is trot along at a pace I struggle to…

This sort of behaviour is despicable. Filthy beasts. (The owners, not the dogs.) I really wouldn't try bleach unless you're seriously at the end of your rope. It sounds like it could be painful or even dangerous. Less extreme ideas include, citrus, vinegar, garlic, pepper, or tea tree oil. Some dogs really hate citrus. You…

This is great advice. "Hybrid" is a very vague term , and a good local bike shop is worth all the tea in China. The most important thing about your bike is that it fits you properly. Bike fit can be a lot like clothing, a small in one brand could be too long in the leg, another brand has the seat too far from the bars,…

Be careful with this. Grinding in a big gear will make your muscles work harder and get stronger but if you don't have a good technique or a well fitting bike you could hurt your knees. If your focus is on working your heart and lungs, I'd stick to keeping your pedal strokes smooth and quick. Edit to add - Remember to keep…
-
Just keep the pedals going around, nice and steady. You could try going off road, gravelly tracks require more effort than smooth tarmac. If you want to work harder without changing your route you can stay in a slightly lower gear and spin the pedals more quickly or spend some time sprinting fast and some time at a more…

I haven't been able to get out on my bike so I'm only up to 12 miles so far.

I'm amused by the comments that try to claim the couple in the gym are "anorexic" and that the lady "needs some meat on her bones". Anorexic people don't have visible muscles, they're often lucky to have any muscle left at all, and "meat", well, meat is muscle. You don't see people sending back their steak because it…

You're never too old to wear a bikini. Doesn't matter how old you are, or what you look like. Big, small, hairy, scarred, the only opinion that counts is your own. If you're comfortable in it, wear it, rock it! Go naked if you like (and local laws allow). We're all gonna get a little wrinkled some day and trying to hide…

That's fantastic. I love it! Cheers for the link.

^ That guy has the most fabulous shoulders. I'd love to look a little like him. But "realistically", I'll settle for something like this. ^

I only started doing planks last week, on my knees to make them easier, I can just about manage 2 lots of 20 seconds. It's tough but I like them much better than crunches or sit ups. I don't log them on MFP at all.

Only did one mile today. Been restful. TOTAL = 4 miles.

The rule at my house is Seat And Lid Down Every Time. It looks neat , prevents the dog getting in there, helps to avoid accidental mobile dunking, you can't fall in yourself when you're half asleep and groggy, and it helps stop microscopic particles of fecal matter from spreading all over the bathroom with every flush. I…

I've done 3. Fair few left to go. XD

Spot on, I told her it's lovely, tastes great, I really appreciate it, and I'll happily have a couple of sausage rolls but I can't be scoffing that much or I'll wreck all my good progress. To be fair, it's not a common occurence. She doesn't bake often. Besides, today she implied that I resemble Billy Bunter and we had a…

Is it too late for me to join in? If not, please put me down for 150 miles. If I am too late, no worries, I'll just make sure I'm quicker off the mark and join in next month. Cheers :-D

I love this phrase. XD
-
I feel like my mum is attempting to sabotage me this weekend. It seems like all I've heard from her today is - "Have some more sausage rolls." "Why don't you help me finish off these mini pasties for lunch?" "Would you like a cheese straw?" "You could have some of those sausages for supper." "If they don't get eaten soon,…

I'm trying to apply the phrase "If you want it, you'll have to earn it" to all my snacking. I have a terrible habit of thinking, "I'm a bit hungry. I'll just have a biscuit". Two minutes later, I'm still hungry so I'll have another biscuit, or some cheesecake. I know those snacks are never going to fill me up. I could eat…

I had a couple of lessons a few years ago and something you should try to remember is that with better technique you will feel like you're going much, much slower. Don't rush it. Focus on your stroke and take your time. I'm sure you'll notice an increase in speed once you nail the posture and movements.

I just scrape in at 5 ft nothing and I joined MFP at 187lb. My goal weight is around 115lb. I'm not too fussed about the number though, I'm more focused on getting fitter and stronger.
