Feel free to add me - I know losing a larger amount may seem daunting sometimes, I'd love to be there to support and encourage each other! I'm 23 and I started this just under 270 - I'm down to 237 now but I've still got a long way to go also!

Welcome! =)

Feel free to add me =) I'm 23, a nurse. I'm 5'8 and about 240, looking to get under 200 also!

I just broke into song when I read that =) Welcome! Feel free to add me - I log daily and keep my diary open in case you want to take a peek

Yeah, I'd tell your coworker she doesn't know what she's talking about. The people that I've come across that have had negative things to say about soy quoted the Weston Price Foundation directly (which is a joke). It's a type of bean, that's all.

Hey there, welcome (back)! Feel free to add me if you like - I'm also an RN, and I'm a vegan =)

Hey there, welcome! I think you might want to do some more research (try Google Scholar, not Wikipedia) on high-protein and high-fat diets. While they lead to short-term weight loss more quickly than other types of diets, they're very hard on the kidneys and liver in the long run. I think it's great that you're ready to…

It's great to see so many women doing the right thing and getting themselves healthy before taking on motherhood! Being overweight during pregnancy increases the chance for just about every single complication that places both mom and baby in danger - so way to go, ladies! I'm with ya :-)

Fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains

Don't be fooled. Fish has cholesterol in it, it definitely doesn't lower your cholesterol. The omegas in fish oil help to reduce the inflammation around your heart that is caused by eating meat (fish included) in the first place.

It's pretty easy to maintain 1200 calories on a whole foods, plant based diet: unsweetened oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, a huge salad with no oil, dressing or meat on top for lunch with a baked potato, and brown rice with a veggie stir fry for dinner. Drink only water, snack on plain veggies or fresh fruits and voila! I…

I subscribe to the "genetics loads the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger" way of thinking. I think my body has a predisposition to being SLIGHTLY heavier, but then I stuffed my face with chips and fast food and made myself obese. I used to work as a nutritional counselor and honestly, it drove me absolutely crazy when a…

Request sent :-) Anyone else can feel free to add me, too - I log everyday and keep my diary open :-)

I'd look into the Happy Herbivore series - I use a lot of her recipes and I just modify them a little each time to suit my cravings. I sent you a request too - I'm a vegan and I keep my diary open. I'm not perfect, especially since I've gotten better at veganizing my favorite desserts - but at least you can see from my log…

Hey there! I've only been a vegan a few months now, but I gotta say I'm really happy with this lifestyle =) I keep my diary open and there's a decent amount of tasty recipes in there if you'd like to take a peek

When I eat french toast, I usually don't bother worrying about the calories too much - if I was that concerned, I wouldn't be eating fried bread, to be honest. However, I do top mine with a very small drizzle of pure maple syrup and lots of fresh fruit (like, a whole banana, 1/2 cup of slice strawberries and a handful of…

I'm not a vegetarian, but I recently started cutting back on animal products (thank you, Netflix documentaries) Lately, my favorite has been a pita pocket stuffed with hummus, romaine and/or baby spinach, avocado and dried cranberries. I'm a pretty big eater, but half a stuffed pita is plenty for me.

Depo uses the same hormone.

Um. There IS a genetic component to ADD/ADHD (if you have it, your kids are likely to have it) but there have also been many research studies that indicate that it's closely related to a *kitten* diet, caffeine and processed, artificial junk food. So...genetics can't take full blame. Sorry.

Because they're irresponsible, lazy, awful parents and it's easier to cave in and get your kid chicken nuggets than to listen to the whining that follows if you order something healthier for them instead. Duh.

^^ lol my thoughts exactly, honestly. Hair growth rate is genetic, you can't change it. You can change the condition of your hair slightly by eating a variety of fruits and vegetables, and taking a daily multivitamin. Prenatal vitamins have slightly higher concentrations and may product better results. But again, you can't…

I've got 40 more pounds to go til my first goal - I've already lost 29 :) Feel free to add me. I log every single day (though I don't have the guts to open my diary yet), and I just hit my 100 day mark!

Artificial sweeteners are more closely associated with Type II Diabetes than regular sodas and fruit juices, so I steer pretty clear of that stuff. I get a little aspartame in my yogurt on occasion, but I cut out my 4 daily Coke Zeros since I popped "diet soda" into the CINAHL database.

I played a LOT of ARAM last summer - super addicting

I don't think that was maintenance mode, then...
