  • Do you drink enough water?
  • Me too!
  • What he said - you've given yourself a good talking to already by the looks of things. You can do it girl. You always inspire me to run for longer / faster etc. So go inspire yourself!!
  • Hi there I didn't know about the C25K when I started running - wish I did! I have a P.T that I still see once a week and have joined a Womens running club - this has improved my stamina greatly. I would recommend looking for something like this locally. Running on the treadmill is soooooo much easier than running outside…
  • I have a Polar FT7 that I bought for about £60 following advice from my MFPers. I would say that you need to check exactly what each model does - although mine is excellent for tracking calories and heart rate it does not have GPS and does not track distance, speed etc. If you don't want it to track distance then you could…
  • Depends what you want it for. I have just got a Polar FT7 and I failed to research properly. If I had done I would have seen that it doesn't have a GPS so it doesn't track distance. As I mainly run outside that is what I really wanted. Agree with others that it is the only way to get an accurate calorie burn - way less…
  • I know what you mean. A very supportive MFP has just quit because he felt it was taking over his life; he was neglecting his work and his family and I can totally see how that happens. I don't log support to MFP pals as much as I should - probably because I've got too many virtual friends, but I am trying to concentrate on…
  • I have just downloaded this on to my work phone but I can't see how you customise it. It hasn't asked for my weight / height / age etc and it just wants me to start the activity without this info. Anybody help?
  • What she said!! I do the same and use an HRM as this is much more accurate than treadmill, MFP etc. You can get them for about £60. You can do it!
  • You say it best WolfEarl!! WTG.
  • Try not to get too disheartened by BMI. It is not a great way to judge yourself as it doesn't take account of muscle weight etc. It should be more about what you feel comfortable with.
  • Welcome back! Happy for you to add me but it would be helpful when you are asking for friends to make your profile viewable by all. It's just that I try to motivate and comment on as many friends as possible and I try to see if I have something in common with them first before adding them (apart from being on MFP!!). Have…
  • Me too - gained 3 lbs over Easter so need to shift those PDQ! Holiday from 10th June - so if I lost 6 in May that would be great. Currently - 189lbs. GW 179lbs to be in healthy BMI but would be happy with 182lbs as that is exactly 13 stone. I will do this by: 1. Drinking more water. 2. Run every other day - except this…
  • I sometimes buy stuff in SportsDirect if you have one near you. The staff are not very knowledgeable or helpful BUT if you know what you want it is much cheaper in there. They have a nice range of Karrimor Running gear. I got 3/4 leggings, wicking t-shirt and socks for £19 - bargain! If you want special advice you would…
  • hi there You might want to add more info in your profile. I like to see if there is anything I have in common when I 'friend request' someone. Just so that I know we have something in common and I would be able to motivate them effectively. Just a thought = hope don't offend! Best of luck with your journey.

  • I fee your pain!! I have them when I do too much (increase mileage too quickly). Most people will say rest and ice. I agree with ice but I had shin splints today and I just ran when I could and the pain subsided. This is probably the wrong thing to do but it works for me. Get better soon!! Alison
  • LOL - that's all !!
  • What he said !!
  • Hi there I have this HRM too. I don't know the answers to these questions - sorry! But I would like to. I have only been using it for a few weeks and I am still bonding with it! I tend to set my own rate i.e 140 - 160 when running outdoors at 11 min mile pace. I am 5ft 11" and weigh 189lbs. I agree it is easy to set up but…
  • Oh yes - it's addictive isn't it? In a good way of course!! Keep it up. x
  • Agree with this!
  • Hi I agree with all the above. You shouldn't just go out and run for 30 minutes straight - you should build up - no matter how fit you are. Also running outside is a whole different ball game to running on a treadmill. You should check out your shoes and ice those shins. That said - running is great - especially this time…
  • Hi You can do it but the site re-boots every 24 hours so you can't carry forward any unused cals or deduct any that you went over. You could do it by writing it down on a good old fashioned piece of paper!!! Hope that helps!
  • Hi I know this has probably been suggested but have you considered sharing your diary so we can see what you're eating? We can thewn advise you better. Mixing up has worked for me in the past - swimming is good - interval training as Acnwgirl suggests. It will shift soon I am sure. Keep at it!
  • Hi there Take a look at my profile and add me if you want. I am planning on sticking around for a long while yet - even though I haven't got a lot to lose I don't want to start gaining so I will keep on logging! Best of luck! Alison
  • Hi there I'd like to think the previous post you were referring to was mine! Lol. Totally with you tho. Alison
  • You are in a different league! To be able to run 10k without stopping is incredible. Especially that darn hill.
