'Gap' sizing - is it accurate?
Hi all I went shopping today and found some smart trousers in Gap Outlet (UK size 16). Bearing in mind that my usual size is a UK 16 bottom and UK 14 top. The 16 were way to big so my hubbie fetched me a 14. I was quite excited as I have been a UK size 16 for a while and I am happy with this but the thought of being able…

Low Hb and headaches?
I tried to give blood on Friday but my Hb was too low (112 - minimum they accept is 125). I have been feeling tired lately so I wasn't surprised. However all weekend I have had a headache - can anyone help with a possible correlation between the low Hb and the headaches? Thanks in advance........I think my diary should be…

Toilet dilemma
I know this is really embarrassing and I never normally post this kind of topic but I thought someone on here would be able to help........lately when I'm running I need to go to the toilet (and I'm not talking about peeing!!). If I stop running it eases off but then comes back when I start running again. I have a long run…

iPod shuffle help
Hi I have an iPod Shuffle and lately have had trouble charging it. None of the laptops in the house (3) will recognise it so I can't add songs or charge it now. Today when running it seemed that the different 'layers' of the music were louder or quieter. Bizarre. My question is - do you think it is on it's way out? If so…

HRM experts out there??
Hi I have a Polar FT7 HRM. I am 5ft 11.5in, female (!) and weigh 185lbs. I have been trying to keep my HR between 140 and 160 when running. I then read on another post on MFP that you should keep the HR low to increase fat burning. According to my HRM I only fat burn for a few minutes of my runs (usually 60 - 80 mins).…

Rice confusion!
Can anyone help? I have just cooked white rice but I am confused as to how I should log it. It was half a cup BEFORE cooking and about 300g when cooked. I'm not sure if the info about rice on here is for cooked or raw. I have logged it as 120cals but that doesn't seem like much. Any help .......? Thanks.

Foam rollers....do they work?
I have a chronic injury causing pain in my left buttock. It is a combination of tight leg muscles and degenerating lower spine. Resulting in a tightness which feels like I am sitting on something on my left side. I have had MRIs and Xrays and I see an osteopath every few months just to check I am still doing the right…

Trigger Point massage ball - anyone got one?
Hi all Has anyone got one of these? I have just bought one and have used it once on a piriformis type muscle tightness. I knew from a pal on here (Fit4Vet - thanks!) that it hurts a lot when you use it but the tenderness is still there 24 hours later. Is this normal? Can I use it again whilst it still feels tender? How…

Bottled water in cars
Has anyone else heard that keeping a plastic bottle of water in your car is dangerous. I heard that if it is kept in the car then the Dioxins from the plastic leak into the water and are a major cause of breast cancer. Does anyone else know about this? Apparently glass and stainless steel flasks are o.k. Discuss!!

My early morning high.........
Hi everyone Whilst I was out running at 8am this morning I was thinking about all my MFPers. It's strange that the fact that I am logging everything on here makes me think twice about what I eat and makes me want to exercise more. I also can't wait to get back after a workout to 'log and share'. Well this morning I started…

Jut tell me which HRM to buy...........please!!
I have been thinking of buying an HRM for so long but I can't make up my mind which one I should get. Now I know that the ones that have a chest strap are supposed to be the most effective ..........but are they comfortable to wear on longer runs? Also does anyone know of a shop in the U.K that I could go to and have a…

HRM disappointment!!

When does water count....?
Hi pals Do you count glasses of water only when you drink pure water or do you include water in fruit squash (not sure if you call it then in U.S)? The kind of drink that you dilute with water. I don't normally log these but wondered what everyone else does. i am trying to increase my water intake. I don't include water in…

Great South Run 30th October 2011??
Hi there MFPers I have just entered this run taking place in Southsea U.K. Are there any other MFPers out there that are doing this one? Maybe we can support each other. Recommend a friend?
Hi al you MFPers I was wondering if anyone had thought of having a facility to recommend your own MFP friends to others. I find that some of my MFP friends are so supportive and would like to 'introduce' them to other friends. I'm not sure I'm making myself clear here - but dya get my drift?? Someones probably already…

Bread - god or bad?? Just wondered what everyone thinks about eating bread. When I have done 'diets' in the past I have steered clear of bread, but now I am concentrating on calories I have been eating more bread. I will see what happens on Wednesday when I weigh in but I am nervous. Any comments? Tips? Advice? Thanks…

Tracking distance run / calories burned??
Hi I am fairly new to this site but it is really helping me to think twice about what I eat and at the same time encouraging me to exercise more. I belong to a running club and one of the ladies has a tracking device on her mobile phone which tells her how far she has run / how many calories burned - based on her height /…
