your food diary looks nice :) you and I are the same age and it looks like we enjoy similar foods. My diary is open, feel free to get some ideas. I only looked at yours for a few days back and the difference in mine and yours appears to be portion sizes - I eat similarly but in higher quantities, maybe making just that one…

great work rachb26! i thought I could only do girly push-ups until jillian said 'drop and give me 10' and I did! amazed myself!

my diary is open, my dinner (main meal of the day) is pretty much consistently between 4 and 500 calories. Last night was a yummy steak! I generally eat chicken and fish (and I eat good oils - they are necessary for womens health! your body cant store oestrogen without them!)

I'm 49, my kids are grown and I have a 18 month old grandson :) I got my baby weight off by breast feeding and being busy and eating healthily (I remember being RAVENOUS so I ate a lot! Because my body needed it! ) once I stopped feeding I ate less and my routine was hectic. These days I think women are in too much of a…

I've had the coil for the last 18 years (with regular changes of course) it has never affected my weight one bit. You don't need a gym membership - you need to get busy! Cleaning, walking, running errands ... do your exercise videos, a little stretching and ab work, don't make it hard on yourself or a chore, just set…

It's hard to adjust to a new life and routine with a new baby, those first few months when it's just feeding and changing and all revolving around the little one ... You need to get off your butt, away from that tv and the temptation in the kitchen and get walking! Start taking your baby boy out in the fresh air and…

I'm doing level 2, done up to day 6 but only managing it every other day due to life getting in the way of my best laid plans! I hated level 1 and only did it for two days as it wasn't working the areas I needed. I love level 2 though! Quite a challenge and lots more of the exercises I need :) For the push ups, instead of…

I don't mind vitamins and minerals as a boost where it is difficult to get the daily allowances in from your food. But the one mentioned is 'largely vitamin c and biotin' (commonly known as vitamin B7) - you can easily increase those in your diet every day. I swear by foods rich in vitamin E for healthy hair and nails -…

@mindilily yes! Absolutely!

My 'kids' are now 24 and 21 ... I've never been overweight and always eaten healthy and never taken separate meals from them even when timings were bad with work etc. My advice, just stop talking about it, serve healthy meals, make it tasty. They'll go through the teenage years not liking this that or the other but they…

Absolutely not! In fact, I've eaten more fruit while losing weight than I've ever eaten in my life on a regular basis! Unless you have a medical condition (such as diabetes) I wouldn't be at all concerned about natural sugars in raw fruit going over the macros in MFP. Eat them up and enjoy!

Interesting thanks. The link to the full article is here http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Selenium-HealthProfessional/ The benefits far outweigh the risks in my opinion, but the old adage 'everything in moderation' is a good one to follow :)

I eat nuts as a snack while I'm losing weight. They are full of good oils and the vitamin E from brazil nuts in particular keeps my skin great. Good fats are necessary in the diet, especially as women get older as it helps store depleting oestrogen in the body. HOWEVER .... 3, yes, just 3, whole brazil nuts contain 83…

i've got a fairly basic Salters digital scale (it was only £9.99 in the supermarket). It does grams and ounces, its flat and has a reset button - I love it because I can put a plate or bowl on it and reset it to zero then add my food and it weighs it, no mess! And when I'm making recipes I just keep resetting to zero and…

your goal weight is about my actual weight. I've been eating healthily for years and this is my first weight loss diet (I started here at 137lbs 75 days ago!) I gained these 10lbs over about 3 years when my grown-up kids flew the nest and I cooked the same quantities and ate them! I eat the same foods now as I did before -…

how old is she? is she on particular medications? (some foods need to be avoided with certain medications) It can be very difficult to change someones mindset and habits and quite stressful for an elderly person. She has to want to do it for herself really, though there's no reason why you can't gently show her the way by…

You do the jillian Michaels for 10 days at each level, ie L1 then L2 then L3. If you go to the Groups part of the community forums and search for JM30DS or type the whole thing in you'll get more insight there :) I'm enjoying it but doing it every other day, seeing some nice toning results and definite increase in my…

In a word, no. You're not eating enough. You don't say how tall you are or how much you're aiming to lose but it looks like you've been logging for a week and only made a thousand calories on one day. You might think that's ok in the short term but give it another week or so and you'll be feeling dizzy and ill and not able…

Excellent commitment jacquiroxx! I think you'll like level 2 much more than level 1 - I'm very impressed with your commitment to level 1, awesome!

These are the best thing ever! This is the third time I've made them! I use spelt flour. Tonight I added caraway seeds as they were to accompany a Hairy Biker recipe jalfrezi (curry, i made it with leftover beef). Have discovered greek style yogurt definitely works best, it makes the dough much less wet than regular low…

How tall are you? 1252 calories works well for me at 5'3 (starting weight 137lbs, goal weight 126lb) on days I'm not working out.. I upped it to 1450 and have plateau'd so don't believe all you get told about 1200 not being enough! Your food diary looks great. Try having one big day a week as that seems to kick start…

Great work jacqui! I've had a 3 day break and am back on it today! I couldn't manage it along with a big office move where I've been packing paper, books etc and lifting heavy crates. It's quite amazing how much she packs into 20 minutes and how tough it is! (And I think I'm quite fit ... Yeah right lol!)

Try jillian Michaels 30 day shred - I didn't like level 1 as it was a bit dull and not enough ab work for the areas I want to tone but I really like level 2 - loads of toning exercise, great weights, and cardio and I can REALLY feel it! Only 30 minutes a day too including warm up and cool down. Free on YouTube. It's pretty…

Yes, definitely :) I find par boiling them just makes it quicker for me to get it on the table after a long day at work. I would add more oil if roasting for longer though (extra virgin olive oil is my usual favourite)
-
yes! I love mine (maybe hate it just a little too ;) ..) Its definitely easier on the joints though it still pains my troublesome knee after a vigorous workout. I treat it like a focused aerobics session, running on the spot in 1 minute bursts, hopping on 1 leg, jumping jacks, skipping, high knees, leg kicks etc and also…

3 stems wrapped in a rasher of bacon and roasted in the oven for 12 minutes lightly steamed then tossed in with a can of cooked butter beans with lemon juice and black pepper lightly steamed, sprinkled with a little dill, sea salt flakes and a dab of butter

I don't like level 1 so I've now done day 2 of level 2 ... So that's 4 days altogether! I love the exercises in level 2, much more interesting and appropriate for the areas I need to work on (waistline, abs, upper body) - whichever level, those 20 minutes certainly give a good workout! Phew!
-
Thanks Jacqui! I'll check it out ... I've got 4 weeks to get my beach body (it won't be perfect but I'll know I've put the effort in!)

actually, yes, I do eat my extra virgin olive oil 'from a jar' ... well, a bottle! It's rather yummy for dipping bread and vegetables in ! And when I was a kid my mother would give us all Cod Liver Oil on a giant spoon - straight from the bottle (now that WAS pretty gross!)
