Nope. A six pack isn't going to make me laugh, so who cares a toss whether it's there not?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what a *real* woman's body looks like!!

My overriding main concern is - am I over or under on my calories; anything else is just there as a reminder of the "ideal" for a balanced diet. I am generally not too worried if they are over or under unless the differences are going way off the scale regularly on one particular group - means I may need to look at what I…

Would it not be easier to change the %ages in your profile so that they reflect your aims?

There are so many variants that affecting weight that on a daily basis weight can go up or down by a few lb. It's therefore generally accepted that weighing daily is not a good idea. Don't start stressing yet, see how you are doing over a week or a month and if you are following your plan, you should see a general trend…

I amazed myself last week by taking my training outdoors for the first time (been on a treadmill until then) and achieved a faster time than I have done on a treadmill! Did a total of 4.5 miles but clocked myself at 5k and was sub 40 minutes, so setting my sights on 35 mins for the Race for Life in June :)

What annoys me are the girls who come is so obviously just to try and pull a bloke - they sit on the bikes and cycle at about 60rpm for half an hour, don't even so much as break into a sweat, and that's it. Stick to nightclubs, girls, and letus serious gym bunnies have the use of the machines, thanks

That's called doing circuits and is a highly effective method of fat-burning

Given his height and weight I don't think this level of calories as a net balance is a problem
-
Likely to be some water retention due to the increased need for muscle repair arising from the increased number of workouts per week. Give your body a bit of time to catch up with itself before you may any drastic decisions.

Why give up anything? The key, surely, is moderation.

Nando's website has the nutritional data of all it's menu items

If she wants surgery she should pay for it herself. Otherwise. try eating sensibly and doing a few short walks occasionally.

Anyone who required me to change before they were prepared to be seen with me is not worth a second glance.

It's better than dating someone while they're still married!

I should have been doing week 7 day 1 of Ease into 5k yesterday, 20 mins run, 3 mins walk, 5 mins run. Felt like I still had loads in the tank after 20 mins so kept going to a full 30 mins, then walked for 3, then ran another 10 :) Felt so good :) Isn't it the most amazing feeling when you can actually feel the results…

How does it fit in with everything else you eat? How are your actual carb/protien/fat intakes compared to your targets? If in general you are in the right ballpark I wouldn't worry. IMO it's not good to try and cut out something you enjoy - just makes you crave it more! If you feel you need to cut back, maybe have one…

I would agree, HRM is the way to go

Do you take off your "background calories" i.e. those ones that you would be burning even if you were doing no exercise (i.e. your BMR/1440*your exercise time in minutes)?
-
Technically, you could, say, eat 4 Mars bars a day and nothing else, and lose weight, but it's not something I think anyone would advise :) You can eat "junk", but the problem with such food is that it tends to not be very filling, and lacking in the nutrients you need. Best to ensure you have a balanced diet and have…

I'm on week 6, and am pleased with what I have achieved. I'm not particularly fast, but my plan is to get to being able to jog 30 - 45 minutes, then start the programme at the beginning again, this replacing the walks with a slow jog and upping my speed for the runnning bits.

BMI is a pile of Cr*p! Using that alone as a means of classifying people would result in top-class rugby players being classified as obese! It should be scrapped as a measure as it is innacurate.

1) In the short term, any gain following exercise will be water retention, as muscle fibres retain water in the repair process. 2) in the lnger term, muscle in denser than fat, so 1lb of muscle takes up less space than 1lb of fat, so you may be slimmer but still weigh the same. Tis is why it is important never to judge…

What do you classify as results? I do a Body Pump class, the fact that I feel comfortable increasing the weights I use tells me I am achieving results, though as my muscles are still very much covered fat I'm not seeing results in an aesthetic sense

No, it doesn't exist It could only exist where both parties had completely unconditional love, but humans always want something out of another person, it's never unconditional

I've never "eaten back" my calories and think it's a daft concept. I know to lose 1lb per week I need to have a calorie deficit of 3,500 per week. I do that either by eating roughly 500 calories a day less than my body requires, or by doing 3,500 calroies of exercise per week, or a mis of both. My plan already takes into…

I did just the mile - at 16+ stone and with a heart murmur, I am starting gently and working myself up. Yesterday was my first race, my first run on something other than a treadmill, so I was quite pleased to finish without resorting to walking :)
