This is great. Sometimes you only have these realisations after putting yourself through it. Introducing calories gradually is an excellent idea. I know you'll be fine :)

It might be controversial, but this works for some people, namely myself. Try to get a feel for what suits you, if all the other suggestions fail. The vast majority of people work better on breakfast.

I live for Asda's frozen Chicken Kievs. I eat the majority of my calories as my evening meal, so I can have one of those, a small portion of reduced fat oven chips and a ginormous salad for under 700 calories and feel like I've eaten like a king. They taste really luxurious for the calorie content compared to "official"…

I know this feeling. My morning routine is to get up, make a coffee and spend some time with my husband. Then he goes to work. This should be the point where I leap into exercise- I'm free, I have space, privacy and everything I need, but it doesn't happen. It feels like a physical impossibility. Instead, I read my…

This is very true. I've found in the past that a single, one-off binge, especially when I'm particularly hungry and not just being greedy, has little to no affect on my weight. Sometimes your body just wants and needs more. I've even been known to lose weight on a binge. Either way, these things happen. Continue with your…

I have been both fat and thin, but nothing affects my calves- they are without a doubt, the most muscular part of my body and I can't get rid of that bulk. If you store fat there, you can lose weight and do all manner of exercise (just walking will help) to reduce it, but if you're like me, genetics has dictated you have…

I know from both personal experience and loads of anecdotes from others that weight gain or extremely small loss in the first couple of weeks is very, very common. You've suddenly changed what your body is used to with both food and exercise. Give it time, and don't lose heart :)

This is an incredible inspiration. You look stunning, especially that tiny waist! Wow!

My understanding was that there was a professor in America that did an experiment/demonstration for one of his classes where he put himself on a calorie-controlled junk food diet. He ate purely junk (the main thing I remember from the list was twinkies, if you'd like an example) and he still lost weight. He used this as an…

I feel like this every day. I have zero motivation, particularly with exercise. One person encapsulated everything for me so neatly on a different topic the other day, which is that you need to change your priorities. I have absolutely zero motivation to go to work every morning too, but I have priorities in my life…

You can see the difference instantly- great work. Keep it up!

My sister in law has severe disc problems with her back. Apparently exercise balls are the things to use, but I'd check with your doctor and see if they agree first.

It depends if it's silken or cotton, or whether you bought the pre-fried chunks. Pretty much every Asian recipe can have the meat substituted for tofu and it will be delicious. I love it in sweet and sour in place of chicken.

I'm pretty sure that it's hard to build any kind of muscle or tone up on so few calories, so that is probably the reason. I think you're doing an amazing thing by starting to build up your calories. Make sure you keep building them up steadily and you'll be eating enough to strengthen your stomach in no time. I don't know…

I don't usually jump on these threads because I'm no expert and I also have some odd eating habits that probably wouldn't be entertained by other people, but I had to respond to this. I'm 5' 7" and started at 181lbs. My calorie budget is 1400 or so, and I am extraordinarily sedentary. I can't understand why you'd get that.

I had this realisation this morning that my mother's constant jibes about my weight are actually the main reason I'm depressed about it and part of what has stopped me from finding the will to lose the weight I put on over the past few years. Ironically, my mother has never dieted successfully, has very unhealthy eating…

This is true for me too. I gained my weight when I stopped tracking my food intake (I used to do it manually). Overall, the changes I need to make to my lifestyle and eating habits are actually very small, but that's part of why its so easy for them to fall by the wayside. Motivating myself to exercise is my biggest issue,…

I make a tuna and tomato pasta sauce that tastes pretty luxurious and comes in under 600 calories. I usually have it with half a reduced fat garlic baguette, and even then. it still comes in at 611 calories. You literally just heat up diced red onion and garlic in a saucepan, add 1/2 a tin of chopped tomatoes, 1/2 a tin of…

Hi, I'm at a similar stage in my diet to you. I also stick to low impact exercise and my goal is to eat all my favourite things and still lose weight. Feel free to add me if you like :)

I have been dealing with PCOS since I was 12. The first and foremost myth of PCOS is that your symptoms will be constant for your entire life. The nature of PCOS is that the condition changes and so do the symptoms. I currently have my symptoms well under control, and have done for about 5 years. I have previously dieted…

I've been drinking diet sodas for about a year and it does make a difference to weight. Some people find that cutting all soda, including diet ones, makes a difference to them as well, but I think this varies a lot from person to person. My husband says that drinking too much soda makes him feel grungy and off-colour. My…

Wow, you look great!

I'm in my second week here and about the weigh in for the first time :S Feel free to add me :)

Welcome. This is my second week and I'm enjoying it so far. Feel free to add me :)

Tomorrow is a nebulous concept- it never actually comes, we just chase it. Why don't you try tracking how you eat normally when you come back from your trip? You'll be able to see not only the calories, where you're going wrong or could cut back and when you eat them, but it might help you to identify how you were feeling…

You can do so much with this as a base: 1 tin chopped tomatoes Tomato puree (to taste) Garlic puree (to taste) And then whizz it down with a blender. It's great with oregano and basil for an Italian flavour, or you can use tarragon (sounds odd, but really works!). It's great baked.

Wow! Your arms are incredible!

I do yoga as my main exercise and it's a requirement for proper practice that you do it on an empty stomach. Any form of exercise on a full stomach gives me cramps.

While it's hard to get a complete picture, it sounds like you're suffering from depression. If you've been prescribed antidepressants, these will take a few weeks before they kick in, and its very important that you revisit your doctor if you find they have no effect for you. Prescribing for depression is not an exact…
