a combination between getting stronger and weight loss is the goal. She has me doing squats, pushups, planks, free weights, running, trx straps, etc. I started with her at 185 lbs and 5'5. I am certain I was not ready for many things at that point. The most important thing to note is I have a back injury and wanted her to…

Yop- no. She has workouts planned but each week I leave with a new sheet. She is highly respected among the guys in the weight room, it probably is because I am seeing her for weightloss - I was not specifically seeing her for weight lifting/ strength training. It does keep it interesting to arrive and never know what I am…

That's great news!!

sounds like I should have been increasing more often then. Thank you. ;) She starts me at 8-12. Sometimes 2 sets or we do a cycle and come back to it. Now I'm curious what I can do in strictly strength....

Broscience - That's a good idea - I just see her on mondays and I work independently through the week. Some days it's cardio, some days its TRX straps, and other days it's weights. Mid week I keep up with the free weights and cardio. We don't do the same moves often enough for her to monitor which weight I am using. She…

That is great advice about not waiting for it to get easy. I think that I am probably slowing my progress by doing that. I know it will not make me bulky (unless of course I want that) - i never mentioned that. I am lifting as part of my weight loss routine to prevent getting the gangly weight loss look. Progress is slower…

Maybe I am not explaining myself properly. I lift free weights mostly. My trainer has taught me many things to do with them. I don't follow a specific program, I just work whatever muscle I am focusing on that day in various angles. I have never done a "deadlift" although the thought is intriguing. My trainer rarely has me…

I want to be pushed, so I don't hold back information. She works with me better when she knows the entire situation including diet and nutrition. That's just my opinion though. How bad do you want this? It should get uncomfortable if you want change.

I have heard somebody say that when they hit a plateau they eat at maintenance for a few days and then go back with their deficit. Something about it helps... I am not a trainer so I don't know why it works. The weight loss is incredibly slow for me, I get frustrated as well. But just keep moving forward and make sure your…

Good for you!! My trainer makes me do them, i hate them - I would rather do planks any day over push ups. Surprisingly I am finding that I can do more of them each time I do them.

That's how I get through it too.

I prefer lifting weights by myself -

I have the garmin Vivosmart and I love it.

When you know that you have no willpower and cannot say "no" to certain foods then find a way to get them. I tell myself that I can have x food as long as I earn enough calories to eat it. If you are going out to dinner go workout and add 500+ calories to your daily availability so you can eat guilt free. It feels less…

*lifts arms, feels armpit... takes note. ;)

this is inspiring and you look great!!

Wonderful and inspiring! It's been 2 years of slow progress for me. But progress nonetheless. It doesn't matter how long it takes, all that matters is that you stay on path and keep going forward. Wonderful results!

No I didn't add muscle mass- but I did strengthen the muscles that I had. Lemon water has Countless benifits including metabolism boost (a small one is better than none) but notice I said increase water and lemon was a bonus.... And Your body needs rest. Not getting enough will slow progress. There are many benifits to a…

Hi Shelly! You will find many people doing this so many ways on this forum. Either way, nomatter what way you do it, consistency and desire for change is going to make it impossible to fail. Personally I can't make things too strict otherwise I know i will go back 100% to the old ways. So now it's small substitutions, or…

Gnc Leanshake 25 is the one I use the most but I also liked Metagenics Ultraclear plus ph for the results and sustainability. The ultraclear tasted much worse but worked soo good at holding over my hunger and i saw myself eating less when I was taking it.

That was how I felt for a long time. I WAS weighing and measuring foods too so I t made me feel like a failure. Truth is, my metabolism was shot so the changes were taking a long time to adjust. Weight lifting, higher water intake (with lemon is even better) and cardio are all important ways to improve your metabolism. I…

the most common thing I see for that trend is if people are too "balls out" about the change, or "all or nothing" mentality it's impossible to adjust to real life again. That is why portions and moderation are key. You have to allow yourself to do things and have things taht you know you will not be able to stay away from…

I have not made this but saw many examples on the crochet crowd facebook page. It's a nice one.
