That's inspiring! You have an amazing year ahead of you!

The holidays have gotten me addicted to sugar again! When I first started my new lifestyle, I worked hard to kick the addiction and then managed to have a little and not go berserk with it. But it does seem for me that the more I allow myself the more I crave, so I am now back to weaning myself off of it again.

Congratulations, we all need to share our successes to keep each other going! You've done well :)

I am no expert, but I have found on my own that adding calisthenics to my daily routine has really built my strength. I was walking very regularly and started a 90 day challenge of push-ups & planking in October. Along the way, I've added squats, pelvic lifts, leg lifts, and will add some more gradually. I am still losing,…

that is awesome, I wish you well in your goal to 100lbs, I don't doubt for a second that you will make it happen!

Before I lost weight, my butt was big & round, but it seemed that as I started losing it came off my butt first, and I was less than thrilled with my flat butt. That said, I think it is much easier buying pants, skirts, jeans, etc. with a smaller butt than with a round one! I've been doing squats for a month (I don't…

I had one that holds you by your ankles, and I think it did some good but also some bad, if that makes sense. I had some sciatic nerve issues that seemed to get worse and cause numbness in my leg when I used it, so I stopped. A friend of ours borrowed it for awhile when he had to quit work for a few weeks because of a back…

curious too...I am building muscle now which seems to at least serve as a bit of a distraction to the extra skin hanging, but short of surgery, I don't think there's much one can do - but would like to be proven wrong :) congratulations on the significant weight loss, though!

You are armed with knowledge, determination, and the ability to make healthy choices, so just recognize that life is full of these situations (although, this season is a little crazy) and this is a test, and you have what it takes to pass the test. You are smarter about these things than you used to be, don't underestimate…

we had a family gathering yesterday, the kind where every yummy thing you could imagine is set out on a huge buffet and left out for hours for you to pass by or pick through at will. I even sat at that table for awhile, cracking open some walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts and constantly reminding myself that I was making good…

OK...clearly some of you don't know what I mean by 'heavy bleeding' - except the one who mentioned a 'diaper' - she knows what I'm talking about ;) but thanks for the added comments about things to try :)

thank you for your reponses. I know it's basically common sense that if you think you're gonna pass out you shouldn't be doing it :P I'm having frequent & heavy periods so this is really cramping my style and it's hard to get into a real rhythm of regular exercise with the interruption of these frustrating TOMs (every 2.5…

You are a great example to so many - of how bad things can be, and how they CAN be turned around. It is the worst feeling to feel there is no hope, no point in even trying to change. But you have accomplished a huge thing, don't forget that - especially as you enter a new chapter in your life that might leave you feeling…

I have not used it for a few years, but I know that when I did I benefitted from it. I took it in the latter part of my last pregnancy and post-partum and it made a huge difference for me (compared to my 2 previous pregnancies). I felt I recovered quicker from my difficult delivery and it improved my milk production and…

read the forums linked above. Be patient - with getting used to eating less (I truly thought I would starve when I first started MFP - was consistently eating 1/3 more calories than I needed) - with slow weight loss (my goal was 1 lb/week, and I kept it steady for the first 20 weeks, then it dragged out to 1 lb every 2…

I have done both - tried to exercise through the illness and taken some time to rest. Most times, exercising through it has helped me get through it quicker, although I have nearly passed out from not getting enough oxygen, too, so you really do just have to listen to your body and not be stubborn about it. In all cases,…

I do not know the pain you are feeling, although I am a mother of 3 wonderful boys. I can't imagine your grief, but I know God and know the comfort that only He can give, so I will lift you and your family to Him in prayer.

that's me too! was looking at your OP thinking that could be a picture of me (never did any before pics) But I am inspired and motivated - now that i've gotten rid of some of that junk in the trunk - to build it back with muscle, a much more attractive option ;) Way to go, keep up the good work!
-
Good work! Way to not give up after your injury, so easily done!

I like the ones that are flavored, tetley makes a lychee/pear decaffeinated green tea, and lipton has a few fruity varieties that I also enjoy.

Wow, you've really come a long way in a year! It can seem so unattainable from the start, but just do it one day at a time and suddenly, a year has gone by and you've changed significantly :) You are a wonderful inspiration - keep up the good work!

Sometimes you need to put the dots real close together for men to understand what is going on. I don't mean that in a sexist way, truly; they just think & learn differently than women do (I am married 23 years and have 3 teenage sons, trust me ;) )If you have done your level best to communicate to him your frustrations and…

grew up eating them pickled, haven't had for a while though, miss them!

I am no expert, but I'm thinking you need to adjust your plan to get what you want. If you want a fatter butt, eating unhealthy or excess calories will probably accomplish that, but you'll be adding to other areas that you probably won't want to. It has been said you can't spot reduce fat, I seriously doubt you can spot…

Thanks for sharing your success story!

It is touchy, depending on so many things...I think focusing on what you can do to INSPIRE change without suggesting it would be key. You say you can eat 2500 cal a day or something to that effect - are you keeping bad foods around the house that she can't say no to? If you can get away with it, but she can't, it may be…

^ totally! And because they haven't seen us or what we've done every day for the past few months, they assume we did something drastic or unhealthy to get slimmer. I've simply responded by saying I'm almost to my goal, and my doctor says I could stand to go a little further with the weight loss (truth) and that usually…

thanks for the imput! I've decided to give it a chance before I write it off as a sacrifice I'm not willing to make. I hope there can be a healthy balance of walking with company and having my alone time. Truth be told, the 2 times I've walked with company this week, I did walk for 45 minutes as opposed to my regular…

I started with both eating better and cardio exercise, and have consistently lost 1 lb/week for 6 months, that's 26 lbs so far. My starting weight was close to yours, but i am a little older (43, if that makes a difference). I have been mostly brisk walking with weights 4-5 days a week and it's working for me. I recently…

A friend of mine uses fitnessblender.com and she says it's the way to go! I haven't been able to get into it myself, as I enjoy walking outdoors for exercise. But she likes it for the variety. Walking is not a chore for me, even though it is a great cardio workout, so I second the idea that if you find an exercise that you…
