I'm 50, and trying this again after 2 back surgeries derailed me for a bit. I've been on here since 2013, but it seems the friends I had have dropped out or unfriended me cuz I was MIA. Anyway, good luck to you all!

I'm here again because last time around MFP helped me lose 37 lbs! I regained most of it when I injured my back, waited 9 months for surgery in terrible pain. There's a longer story, but I am now 'healthy' enough to give it another shot. Good luck to you all!

Crickets are known carriers of parasites. It makes me wonder how the crickets are processed that parasites are not a problem? Is there any nutritive value left after that? Yes I'm quite ignorant on the subject :)

Way to go! I started my healthy lifestyle journey in April 2013, and nearly reached my goal of 40 lb loss in 1 year, and then I ruptured a disc in my lower back which had me sidelined - gaining back 27 lbs in 9 months of sedentary life, emotional eating and meds. I'm back on track now, 5 weeks post-op from back surgery,…

same...I never understand when people say it's a good solid breakfast

I usually stick to water, but you can make your own iced tea in bulk, lightly sweetened with sugar or whatever you prefer. My recipe: in a gallon jug or ice cream pail, 6 orange pekoe tea bags + 1 lemon herbal tea bag, pour 4 cups boiling water over to steep for at least a half hour. Remove bags and add sweetener - I add 1…

I lost 37 just 3 lbs short of my goal weight when I ruptured a disc in my lower back in March 2015. Constant pain and the meds where only partially to blame for my lack of focus and I gave up logging my foods. I did find an exercise I COULD do - aquacise 3x/week - but it also increased my appetite. Anyway I'm 4 weeks…

thanks for the encouraging report! Going on those online back issue forums - rarely are they positive :P I'm hopeful to get my life back soon

I am sitting here at the computer cuz there was no bloody way I was gonna get to my aquacise class today...I am not feeling well either, but I'm gonna try to get on my elliptical today anyway...don't stress out about it, it's only a day here or there, and there probably is still something you CAN do if you feel like you…

i was looking for some thread to help me since I suffered a severe back spasm 3 weeks ago that has turned my world upside down. The back/hip muscles released within about a week, but there is serious pain stemming from lower back into hip, down the IT band, calf and through the heel. I've been to physio twice, chiro and…

when I started planking, it was simply 'hold for as long as possible' and my start time 20 seconds (yes, I needed alot of work)! As I continued daily with the challenge, I was impressed at how my endurance built - to be able to do a 2 minute plank vs. a 20 second plank was a big accomplishment for me and I don't know that…

started my weight loss/healthier living April of last year, and I trend almost the same way consistently: drop to a new low, bounce around 1-3 lbs higher for 2-3 weeks and then drop again to a new low. It's a pretty solid pattern, but I always get a little nervous as I'm nearing the end of the 2-3 weeks, even after all…

acid reflux problems are thankfully a problem of the past for me too now that i've lost weight and just plain old don't eat so much! Congrats on feeling and looking better!

we may be different kind of sugar addicts, but what has worked for me when I'm feeling out of control is to break the addiction cold turkey, and then eventually I can enjoy A treat once in awhile, I feel satisfied, and I don't have to fight the crave constantly. But if I let myself go crazy, I'm starting all over again :(…

I had an ample behind before I lost weight, and I was surprised to find it was one of the first things to go...I am now, after the fact, trying to build some booty back with targeted exercise like squats, bridges, etc...wishing I had started this in the beginning!

Definitely! When the weather permitted, I walked my westie 2 - 2.5 miles a few times a week - it was MY primary source of exercise, and it didn't matter to him if we walked 2 mph or 4 (which was my preference for calorie burn & cardio). I credit having such an enthusiastic walking partner for getting me to love it ;) Now,…
