  • I am partial to men with custom half-sleeves (particularly if they are complementary).
  • I am up and working out from 5:30-6:30 a.m., then from 6:30-7 I help my son get ready for school and either I or my husband runs him over to school. I pack my lunch, shower, check my schedule, and get any dinner prep (crockpot, defrost, etc.) taken care of and try and be on the road to work (9-5) by 8:40 a.m. I'm usually…
  • I do what RavenNevermor does--lay out EVERYTHING the night before--including ponytail holders and headband, etc. I actually lay it out in the hallway so that I have to stumble out of the bedroom to put everything on. When the alarm sounds, I think to myself "everyone else is asleep, so I'll have accomplished more than them…
  • Mine sniffs AND pees on every lightpost!
  • You look terrific, and I can't wait to hear all about your 1/2 marathon training! So awesome to see another working mama being good to herself!
  • 1.) We had to move some furniture from our second floor all the way down to the basement. I used my new quad strength and arm strength to help stabilize a fairly wide desk while my husband and moved it down a set of circular stairs. 2.) We store our fall decorations on a high shelf in our basement. In the past, I had…
  • As a working mom, I just want to say thank you for this. Clearly, your parents have done many, many things right in raising you. :flowerforyou:
  • Red licorice twists--not Twizzlers or Red Vines, but the old fashioned kind (there's a brand that you can buy at Tractor Supply Company called Home Town Candies--so good?). Pretty much all sugar--not a lot of nutritional value at all.
  • I have worked my son's entire life (he's 12), so he was in either childcare or in school when I was working. So my evenings with him were very valuable to me when he was very young. I didn't want to miss that stage. However, I would say that whatever decision you make should be based on what's best for you and your family…
  • I didn't have a lot of weight to lose when I started my fitness journey, but I am currently maintaining at 5'1" and 100 lbs. In the maintenance forums, a good rule of thumb for most people is "shoot for 5 lbs under your goal weight and that will give you flexibility to adjust caloric intake and macros." However, going to…
  • Initially, my boys didn't "get" it when I started eating healthier, but then my husband did a circuit training DVD with me and my sis and realized that he needed to make an overall change at the beginning of July. I do the meal-planning and cooking for dinner, which is a great help. I try to be fairly flexible because my…
  • It depends on what I did that day and what I plan on doing the next day--if I lifted, I would grab something with extra protein (and if I plan on doing a HIIT workout the next morning, etc. I would try and fit in a complex carb). Either that or just grab some ice cream....mmmm.....
  • I am 5'1" and maintaining at between 1300 and 1700 (lift heavy and circuit training & some HIIT). I just averaged out my TDEE over the past 32 days, and it puts me at 1590. FYI, I am 100 lbs. I suspect that I am probably not eating enough for more strength gains, so I may be upping my calories/revisiting my macros.
  • I've always wondered this whenever I go and input my activity level in any TDEE calculator--for me, being 5'1 (and now 100 lbs I feel like I have to be accurate). Ironically, I just did the average over 32 days per Lee's suggestion--and that TDEE is actually 10 calories away from the IIFYM estimate!
  • Mine from yesterday--I coughed while looking in the mirror and saw my external obliques flex. Core work and heavy lifting has been good to me!
  • My son would LOVE this--he loves seared tuna AND BLTs! For me-I just had a homemade chocolate muffin that I made over the weekend (egg whites, mashed bananas, oat flour).
  • I'm about to get in mine (a BRZ) to drive out for a lunchtime hair appointment. Before that, I drove a WRX!
  • My husband and I have always had at least one MT in our garage since even before we got married. Hubby is an amateur race car driver/regional race director, so we are a bit biased. I personally prefer it--more control off the line and you can accelerate through the apex if you want to. I think driving manual should be a…
  • Joining the chorus of people thanking you for your service, Mateo. I personally tend to stress out a lot too--but having focused on my health has given me back a lot. Of all the things in my life, it is one of the things over which I have near-complete control (and for that I'm extremely grateful), and so every daily…
  • That reminded me of this:
  • zeebruhgirl: Agnes from Despicable Me!
  • I'll pile on to the pulling up of an old(ish) thread--it's getting to be about that time for Candy Cane Joe-Joes!!
  • I think Rose Leslie (Ygritte on Game of Thrones) is one of the most gorgeous women on the entire planet. Redheaded guys make me do a double-take whenever I see them. Yum!
  • Wedding cake ice cream or cinnamon raisin toast with butter. Edit to add: My answer was based on the original question of having leftover calories at the end of the day. If it was an entire meal, I'd have to say Indian food.
  • We are pretty active in our family but didn't really pay attention to nutrition and fell into a habit of relying solely on running for fitness. One day, I just looked in the mirror and noticed that more fat was just happening to settle around my middle. My interest in better nutrition and in lifting heavy actually was…
  • I know you will get this a lot if you end up hanging around MFP, but I would recommend strength training and again a progressively heavy lifting program. It may be that you don't actually need to lose fat but rather gain muscle. I was happy with my weight loss, but now am ecstatic with the muscle definition from…
  • Awesome idea. I am biased toward custom ink because that means that no one else will have anything like it, so I would say get it custom designed together with your wife.
  • Things NOT to do: rush through bench press reps at maximum weight. It was a big pile of suck for me today.
  • Add me to the deadlift fan group. HIIT--rounds on the punching bag
  • I have a tendency to save my calories until the evening so that I can fit in a glass or two. Although, I will say that since I've started my fitness journey I tend to drink less--so my tolerance has also gone down, thus making me a cheap date! :flowerforyou: Sometimes, I go for lower calorie options like Stiegl Radler (110…
