I can actually empathize with being nervous about attending classes (and lifting, for that matter). I am an introvert by nature, and so being in a room full of people makes me nervous in general. On top of that, to be in a room of other people while I'm sweating and my arms and legs flying all over the place? What if I…

I made the mistake of NOT eating enough on my 40th birthday. Needless to say, the next day--which happened to be Father's Day--was not fun and I am indebted to my husband for putting up with my sorry state that day. In retrospect, I probably should have put in more exercise the 2 or 3 days before to get a higher overall…

Thank you for this. I have enjoyed "Lifting Heavy" even though my gains are not as high right now as other women (of whom I am in total awe by the way) since I started about a month ago. I am really surprised at how much I enjoy it.

You look terrific!!

You can take all of them out and drop them in vodka. Sift out the white gunk, and voila! Green apple-flavored vodka.:drinker:

We have Man Lab set up as a DVR series recording! :flowerforyou:

A set of 7 sports bras in different styles (racerback, criss-cross), each with the days of the week printed on them!!

Lol--can you have too many? I have 6 or 7, but my two Moving Comfort ones are my favorites. Sometimes I will workout, shower, THEN put a new clean one on (I have a couple of Nike lower impact ones that are perfect for Saturday errands). I can duck in and out of super-air conditioned stores and not feel self-conscious. :)

Every time Hanfordrose posts a topic, I have to read but I always risk tearing up because her posts make me so happy. Huge congratulations on the swimming feats and to being SO close to knee replacement!!

Ampingitup, early congrats for finishing up the program!!

Tameko has a fantastic summary that is stickied in the Stronglifts for women group posted above. I would go there before considering downloading the .pdf from the stronglifts.com site. While the .pdf is...ummmm....entertaining, it is not exactly the easiest to read.

It's actually fun to see what other people are doing. For me: I alternate between Les Mills Combat and Tapout XT (AM) and Stronglifts 5 x 5 (3 x a week in the afternoon).

Hammond is just more aesthetically pleasing than May or Clarkson, so he gets my vote! Anne--if you have ever heard of NASA (National Auto Sport Association), my husband is involved with the Central Region.

Thank you--I did sort of feel like a BAMF when I went to the front desk to ask if there was any chance of getting a power rack (just ONE!). Trying to do what I can with what I have. :)
-
Anne--what association/series do you race? My hubby is race director for the central region of a small-ish association(I have taken a couple of DEs). Okay--me: I am an in-house lawyer for a big company. I specialize in a very interesting but very hectic area. I was a cheerleader in college a VERY long time ago. I am a mom…

How lucky it is to have the chance to check into this thread!Shirtless Henry Cavill not just once but multiple times and with various varieties of chest hair. :flowerforyou: It was Squats + OHP + Deadlift for me today (all 5x5): Squats: 75 ( I deloaded from 80 last week to re-set/adjust my form) OHP 40* Deadlift: 80 So my…

I have the set and am alternating between them and Les Mills Combat. I actually have set up a hybrid schedule but I finished LMC in May and am shifting to maintenance and lifting right now so I am not necessarily following it to a T. anm110, I logged Cross Core Combat and Sprawl and Brawl under circuit training, but some…

Go beautiful momma!!

Wow--so impressed with those looking into/starting to compete. Also, I looked up pistol squats on YouTube and I was like :noway: Yesterday was a B day for me: Squats: 80 (5x5) OHP: 40 (5 x 5) Deadlift 70 (1 x 5)--I sense that I could probably go higher but I want to get my technique down first. On a separate note, my…

Hey rebeccakes--no advice for you but I would just watch things to make sure of not overtraining. I trained for a half about 3-4 years ago, and while the early short runs were just fine, I would wonder about the combined impact for medium and long runs plus the jumping from LMC. Have you seen this combined schedule:…

Definitely Les Mills Combat. I have a martial arts background and I find that I really like it. I finished a 60 day round and have switched to alternating between some of the cardio workouts with Tapout XT. While I do like the Tapout workouts, I notice that there is not as much emphasis on technique and there are fewer…

You look GREAT! Dropkick Murphys makes for great lifting music.

60 Live actually has rounds from almost all of the other LMC workouts (Running Man from Lower Body Blowout, repetitive side kicks from Power Kata), whereas Cardio Fighter 60 is all original rounds. When I did my 60 days, I would substitute it in for Cardio Fighter 60 whenever I wanted to.

The free weights area of my corporate gym is usually about 80% male, and in fact I was IN the squat rack and a friend of mine (male) eyed me and said "You don't want to mess with those." Which I thought was....interesting. OP-if your son is in karate at the same gym, I can totally understand wanting to stick with that gym…

My husband got a limo for my 40th birthday this past Saturday (my real birthday is this Thursday), and things being what they were I spent the entire night celebrating and talking to my fabulous friends and I didn't eat anything. So on Sunday I was NOT feeling very well. I also took Monday to recover, and so this morning…

A couple of vents today: -In between my squat sets, a male co-worker/friend stops by and eyes what I am doing and says "You don't want to mess with those." Really? I thought you might have taken some physiology classes or may have learned a little when you played football in college. -Someone did not put back their 45 lb.…

So when I got on the scale on Monday, I noticed that I had lost a couple of pounds but over the past three days I have noticed that I felt more fatigued during my workouts than before--this is odd because I have been eating more since I put my goal in on MFP as "maintain" once I hit my goal weight. Needless to say, I took…

Based on things that people have said lifting/strength training helps lose fat, so you might want to look into ChaLEAN Extreme.

Morning workout-er here! I am up by 5:20 a.m.-5:45 a.m., depending on the length of the workout. I finished up Les Mills Combat right after Mother's Day and right now I am alternating between Tapout XT and LMC in the morning, and then adding some Stronglifts 5x5 at my company's on-campus gym on days where the morning…
