Are you sure that's your BMR number? That sounds like your TDEE which includes your level of activity.

Bump. I have the same problem, but I'm unsure whether or not it's fat. When my arms are flexed, nearly all of it is firm muscle. But naturally they look like bat wings. Starting heavy lifting in a couple days and keeping my fingers crossed that my arms get slimmer!

I've learned if you step off and step back on again within the first couple minutes, it will regurgitate the same number. This was just a theory I had, so I asked my friend if he could step on it right after me (he weighs about 190), and sure enough it told him he was 130. Complete garbage.

This is the same scale I have! I can go from weighing 129 to 135 in ten minutes. Since becoming really dedicated to losing weight, I figure it's worth it to invest thirty dollars in a scale that will illustrate any and all progress I've made so I bought a Taylor scale off Amazon a couple days ago :) Only heard good things!

Thank you so much to everyone :D I will definitely check out the books and Youtube videos. Downloaded the 5x5 system and I'll try that tonight :)

I'm a member of 24 Hour Fitness, but the only times I'm available to go to the gym are after 11 PM due to full time work and full time school, so there aren't any trainers (or anyone, really) to help :/

As overwhelmingly helpful as that was, I'm looking more for what weight women suggest starting with, how many reps, how many days a week, how often to do cardio as well, avoiding injuries, etc.

Goodness gracious! That was insanely helpful :) Thank you so much. Hopefully I did it right and my net should be 1580 without eating any calories back. Oops. I have been way under that.
