If you are eating on emotional cues and stress that is something i can relate to because my job is a pressure cooker. I have been trying to avoid eating in those moments and have gotten in the habit of drinking my water bottle that has water and lemon when i feel stressed. Then I take three deep breaths and many times that…

If the ankle doesn't bother you I burn tons of calories on a stationary bike. If it does bother you, I have also had several surgeries over the past years with arms and legs out of commiission so I used the Mari Winsor Pilates DVD's without all the props and found that I could always do those exerices regardless of what I…

Unbelievably some people will use prepackaged food and add to a meal or a crock pot and that packaged amount is what they need to know. Or cereal I ned to know unprepared because i love to eat it out of the box with nothing else like a 3 year old.

boy do I know where you are coming from! I have had a history of strict diets with tight discipline for months at a time only to find those habits are too harsh for me to live by. Once I allowed any of the forbidden items back in my diet I would gain weight. Part of the great thing about MFP for me has been the realization…

I have found that if I work out for 30 minutes first thing in the morning, either biking walking, aerobics or pilates, I tend not to overeat and am not as hungry as the days I don't workout first thing. Today, I didn't workout and I was 1000 caories over my daily goal by 5pm. Needless to say, I think I might need a bigger…

You have done so much and all you have already done is inspiring. When I started this my brother would shed weight like he was taking 5 lbs every few days. My weight has been a slower progression, Only 15 pounds in 90 days, and it was frustrating but today I dropped another two pounds since the last weigh in and it is so…

Sounds like a great challenge. I would like to join in as well, better late than never. I am in for this month as well. Starting 158 Current: 146 Goal by April 30th 141. Let's go! :glasses:

Sweets have always been a dominant part of my day. I always had dessert with all meals but breakfast and snacks were often sweets. I have found that as I make healthier food choices, I crave sweets less often. I do still have chocolate cravings but have noticed if I keep it to a couple dove promises every few days, I am…

Thanks for that great post. I dropped enough weight and size to fit into clothes I hadn't worn in a long time and was resting on my haunches. However, your article reminds me that I am only half way to my goal and I need to fit the workouts in even when work gets crazy. Thanks for a post that reminds us that everyday…

I just try to have at least a 500 calorie deficit and that seems to allow me to continue losing weight fairly steadily. I have found that the elliptical is a faster way to burn calories than walking so I try to do at least 30 min on the elliptical which usually translates into at least 300 calories. I also try to…

Welcome! I have been using this site since the cliche new year and have found it very supportive and everyone is very helpful. It is so easy to track your meals rather than follow a meal plan, and it has really given me a better understanding of what I actually need. I had a few years in a row of surgeries and each one…

Congrats on losing that weight so far ahead of schedule. I swam in college and the one thing I can tell you is never listen to coaches, they never knew what they were talking about and sometimes would tell information that harms their own athletes. You work out whenever it works for you and keep up the good work.

My sugar is always over the goal by the time I finish breakfast, but I usually have fruit with breakfast. Just remember that the sugar counts good sugar like fruit not just candy, etc. I have been over every single day and have consistently lost weight. This is my 9th week and it averages out to about 1.2 pounds per week…

Welcome! I have found this website to be the most useful and helpful. It has really helped me stay on track and for the days that I go overboard it helps me reel it back in so that I continue losing weight rather than motivation. I also have a sweet tooth which has progressively gotten better over the last two months. As…

I have some days where I am not really hungry by the end of the day and only at 1200 calories and other days that I have breakfat at 8 , eat again at 10 and then 12 and go way over. I have noticed that regardless of some of these feeding frenzy days where I feel like I'm in a food relay, the next day is usually more stable…

Don't forget that working out doesn't always have to mean 30 minutes on an elliptical or exercise bike. You can do squats as you are folding the laundry, or squats playing games with the little ones. I am constantly running up and down the stairs with laundry and that starts to add up. I have a friend that has three kids…

I don't know if it is the same for everybody, but I noticed that when I didn't eat the calories gained by exercise I would get lightheaded and I didn't seem to drop weight as consistently as when I ate the exercise calories. I figure that the increased activity made my body burn more in general and if I kept at the low…
