I had my son's birthday party last week and we had a similar set up, chips, dip, soda, cake, etc. Carry a water bottle with you wherever you go, if you can! It'll allow you to have something in your hands you can ingest without it being food. I allowed myself little indulgences (a little chips and dip, I had some cake),…

Practice makes perfect!

I've been trying to read. I gave in and had a salad with white balsamic vinegar for dressing and I'm having a few baby carrots for the crunch and the chew.

BUMP! to this fantastic post.

I've been so good! But my sodium today was THROUGH THE ROOF! *sobs* Trying to drink my water like a good girl (I slacked off the other day), and watch my calories. I went out last night for "wing night" with some work friends and I didn't gorge myself. I got three of one kind and three of another. I logged them and…

Wednesday Wish: I wish that today will be a good, smooth day at work with minimal foot pain! I'm stopping by Rite Aid before work to get some new inserts for my work shoes (I work on my feet all day so they hurt a lot). Hope everyone's doing well! I hope I have the opportunity to "catch up" on these posts and get to know…

Hi guys! :) Been working a lot (as per usual). I need to watch my sodium intake, I've been going over sometimes and not just by a little. I didn't realize how much sodium everything has! It's crazy!

Liz, I feel like I can be very obsessive about food, too. Especially now that I'm really trying to eat healthier, etc., I'm constantly thinking about it and worrying about what I have available to me. Poor planning is often my way to self-destruction and I definitely want to avoid that, so I can totally understand where…

Saturday Success (might as well dive in!): I allowed myself a sweet treat today and did NOT go overboard. Nor did I partake in any kind of energy drink. :) I didn't drink as much water today as I would have liked but I do believe I got in my 8 glasses and that's good enough for me. Every day isn't going to be phenomenal.…

I've had that if I eat something very greasy/fatty — or just generally all-around not good for me!

1) That wasn't very nice of your mom!! 2) It's hard to tell 100% for me because I am so overweight, but I certainly FEEL like the freaking Goodyear Blimp! Ugh.

*pokes head into thread* Hi. :flowerforyou:

This is brilliantly put. You're absolutely right. As a few of the other PPs have mentioned I've had a few of these moments. Some would say, "Well, then, you haven't actually had THE moment." I assure you, I've had several. Each time was filled with a sense of purpose and, forgive the phrase, "git 'er done!". Recently, I…

I never thought of support hose. I'm not even sure I know what that is, LOL. I'll look into that, thank you! :)

Congratulations! That's a big deal. Thank you for your encouragement. :)

Part of the problem is that I work late, sometimes I don't get home/in bed until 12 AM - 1 AM ... kidlet is up around 6 or so. So I average about 5-6 hours of sleep. Sometimes I will take a nap when he takes his nap, but I don't feel like it actually helps sometimes, so I try not to (though I have caught myself dozing on…

I do love tea! I'll look into something ginseng based, thank you.

I didn't know they only tested for one! I'll have to ask and make sure that they test the others, then, too. Thank you so much! Also, I'm actually not on medication for my bipolar disorder anymore. I'm self-managing (it's working for now, so if I don't have to take meds, I'd rather not), though of course if I find I can't…

This is exactly part of my issue. I've learned that when I try to do too many things at once I get overwhelmed and then I run away from it all. I've also never been thin, so I have no idea what it's like. I guess part of me thinks that I've never been and never will be. That was one of the reasons why I was asking this…

LOL! Wouldn't that be something?! I forgot I could lock my food diary. Good idea, because honestly some days I'm incredibly self conscious because I know I'm eating bad. I have to fight the impulses, etc., on top of the tiredness, LOL. I think some times, Oh I'll just have a little 'pick me up' ... well, the pick me ups…

Sorry, didn't mean to post and run. Thank you SO much for all the responses. Thyroid: every doctor I've ever been to has checked my thyroid and there has never been anything that has popped up as wrong or alarming. Is this something that can change? If so, perhaps it's time to get a re-check. I'm also not talking about…

I LOVE cereal. :) Today I had peanut butter on whole wheat toast, a glass of milk and a cup of yogurt. I'd also like to get granola for my yogurt. Sometimes I'll have the toast, a banana, and milk. Or cereal and a banana. I'm not an eggs fan, so I try to make other choices. :)

Happens to me, too!! It's a good incentive to stay away from it. But sometimes it's worth a little bit of it. Just for a small treat every once in a while when I'm truly craving something. :)

I LOVE the 30DS. I feel it's such a good work out. Of course, you have to take into account that I weigh 300 lb. The first week I did it I lost 5 lb and lost 2" everywhere on my body. But again, I weigh 300 lb, my results are going to be vastly different than someone smaller. But I definitely recommend it! ETA: after about…

Exactly, Fattack. You can "cheat". I don't like to call it cheating. Honestly, I just feel it's being human. Even Dr. Agatston says that when you sleep and wake up the next day your blood chemistry has "reset", so it's like you have a clean slate. So you have a treat one day, so long as you stick with the way of eating…

I've only done 30ds, but I would personally recommend lower impact exercises for at least a week so your knee gets used to moving like that again. Just my opinion though!

One important question is what is your goal weight and how much do you have to lose? If you don't have a lot of weight to lose it's not going to all fall off quickly. I can understand that 9 lb in three months DOES sound frustrating, though. Are you honestly recording your food as well?
-
I think I'm going to stick with just water in the water intake part of my diary. Any other beverages I'll just put with the meals I drink them with or under "snacks". Thanks for your opinions guys! :)

Unsweetened tea, yes, and things like Crystal Light water flavor packets and the like?

You are absolutely right about South Beach. SB is not low carb necessarily - it's all about teaching you to eat GOOD carbs and GOOD fats. The first two weeks ARE carb free. This helps to break your cravings for simple sugars (and it actually works - I was super skeptical). Then after that you SLOWLY add back a certain…
