  • Unfortunately none of those are on my list...I'm discovering that my surgeon's list of acceptable soft foods is MUCH more limited than anyone else's! I don't know why that is. They really emphasized that the list has been carefully assembled over years from their own experiences with patients. They haven't led me astray…
  • Maybe I can talk them into going to a super popular sushi place...lots of options there!
  • Pasta is out because I'm also gluten free (so basically I can't eat anything lol) but the flaky white fish is a great idea! Thanks!
  • Thanks, all. My doctor's office is very strict and I have a list of what I can have, and if it's not on there, I can't have it. They specifically said no soup, because you can't tell what's in it (cream, potatoes, thickeners). Good idea on the applesauce and cottage cheese though. I probably won't know where we're going…
  • Hi, I'm only 17 days post-op, a long way to go yet! 5'10" female, 36 years old VSG 11/14/16 HW: 342 August 2016 SW: 309.2 CW: 294.4 GW: 175
  • I'm only 2.5 weeks post-surgery and new here, but this seems like a great idea. Thanks! 1. Stick to the soft food diet without cheating at all (today is day 4!). 2. Graduate to real food on 12/28. 3. Start walking every day, even if it's only for a few minutes.
  • I had sleeve surgery on 11/14, down 48 lbs since end of August (15 lbs since surgery). Feel free to add me!
  • Hi, we had sleeve surgery on the same day! I'm down 47.8 lbs since the end of August, and just started the soft food diet on Monday. Struggling with it a bit.
  • I've been GF for 4 years and am never going back. I was never diagnosed with Celiac since I'll have to eat it again to get tested, and that is NOT happening thank you very much! Feel free to add me if you want. I was terribly, terribly sick and in horrible pain for 8 months before I figured out the problem was gluten. The…
  • Going to fencing as usual...stabbing all the other single losers with swords!
  • Oh and sorry, I didn't answer your original question! Breakfast - coffee or tea and a Think Thin bar during the week. On weekends, bacon & eggs with added veggies like kale, tomato, green onion, and avocado. Lunch - Usually whatever was leftover from dinner the night before. On weekends I tend to skip lunch with that huge…
  • There's a ton to learn and it's really overwhelming, I know! I get the bars from Amazon, since I go through a lot of them it's more cost efficient for me to buy in bulk. The local health food stores have them and so does our local Kroger chain and WalMart Neighborhood Market stores. You mentioned Trader Joe's, I'm sure…
  • Sorry to be a downer but blue cheese is not GF. They spread flour paste on the cheese to promote the mold growth when it's being made. This is a sneaky one! I can't tell you how many times restaurants have offered me a gluten free menu with blue cheese stuff on it. Welcome to GF, it can be daunting but trust me it gets…
  • It's also gluten-free and has a slight nutty flavor. I love it! Make sure you're getting the pre-washed kind, otherwise it's a pain to prepare.
  • If you have a local GF group, they are probably registered under the Celiac Sprue Association - www.csaceliacs.info/find will take you to the local chapter search. It is overwhelming at first. It was probably a year until I no longer obsessed every single day about food! For most of that I didn't know any other GF people…
  • Eating out is hard because of cross contamination. Some people can handle a little gluten and some can't. I can handle a little, like some soy sauce with my sushi, but not too much over time (so if I have that soy sauce, I can't have a salad that touched croutons the next day without dire consequences). All gluten things…
  • Welcome to the club! I've been GF 4 years. I've never been tested for Celiac because I'd have to eat gluten again and that is NOT happening. I most definitely have a gluten intolerance at a minimum. I've been seriously glutened only twice in 4 years and boy is it horrible! Might as well eat rat poison. Stay focused on the…

  • I'm a bit on the slow side...I was 13 when we met, I knew he was it by 15, now I'm 32 and he's still the one and we're still not together. We're working on changing that, though.
  • I have a small PWS on my arm. Just got back from a conference in NY about birthmarks and port wine stains and thought I'd see if anyone had made a thread about them, even though I'm 5 months late! haha!
  • Sounds like my story, 8 months of hell but different symptoms. Couldn't brush my own teeth or hair from arthritis pain. Couldn't hold a pencil. Couldn't think straight anymore, could barely stay awake through an entire day at work. Terrible headaches. Almost lost my job. Facing assisted living at age 27. Took a bunch of…

  • That horrible 4 Non Blondes song...whatever it's called...with the whining and the yowling and the stupid lyrics...just punch me in the face instead! I will literally dive for the radio to turn it off whenever that song comes on!
  • I haven't tried mashed but it would probably work. I once just chopped it up very finely, and since then I've been using a regular cheese grater. Both work well, and it's delicious!
  • Absolutely the Enell, from www.herroom.com. They have a great return policy, fantastic shipping and customer service. I'm a big fan of that site. And my Enell is perfect, I'm an F and they don't move!
  • He ate an entire child's birthday cake, while we were all in the other room. The poor 6-year old didn't get a cake that year. He wasn't sick at all, but he pooped blue for days. He also ate an entire bottle of antibiotics he stole from the kitchen counter. He stayed at the vet for observation, but was fine and didn't throw…
  • I agree with the above poster, take a cookie but sneak it back later. Just some thoughts on her perspective - if she's unemployed, she may be feeling depressed and worthless, like no one wants her and she's not contributing to the household. Things like cleaning and cooking are things she can do to contribute to the…
