Agree with this, but also that only matters if you have complications from WLS. You definitely will have complications from excess weight.

Update: 5'10" female, 36 years old VSG 11/14/16 HW: 342 August 2016 SW: 309.2 CW: 232.4 GW: 171 This pic is from 10/16/16, and I was already about 25 lbs from my highest weight. 232.4 lbs today. Still 61 lbs to go. 109 lbs lost as of today!

My surgeon was adamant that I did not just buy baby food. His reasoning was that it contains other ingredients and preservatives, not just the pureed food itself, and you don't actually know what you're putting in your body at such a sensitive stage. His second point was that it's how you start thinking of actually…

@Lisidy you look great! I went to my first bootcamp this morning (5:30 am, in the rain) and didn't die.

Every doctor will give you different instructions. The best advice I can give is to do what they say! I've been following my nutritionist's info religiously and it's working great. I'm 6 mos post-VSG and eating 6 oz per meal with an afternoon snack. I watch macros (fat/carbs/protein) and portion size, not calories. I hated…

Way to go @Ultima_Morpha! Today a coworker asked how much I'd lost and I said 105 lbs. Then she said I must be almost done, right? I said no, I still have about 60 lbs to go. She looked shocked and said "from where??"

I’m a planner too. Unfortunately no matter how much you research, you won’t know how it will affect you until you do it. Taking that leap of faith made it harder, but I’m so glad I did! I had VSG in Nov 2016 and am still in the losing phase, down 104 lbs. I’ve heard more stories of failed bands turned to sleeve revisions…

@Lisidy What a great idea! I love how you have one section designated for each time. My snack items - the meat and fruit - are just for whenever and I don't always eat them. Those are nice boxes too. Bentos are the best!

It is scary for sure, but remember the actual surgery part is just a small part of it. It's not fun and it does hurt, but you're back on your feet before you know it. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought it would be, even the liquid diet wasn't terrible. I'm 5 months out and down 104 lbs! I feel and look better than I…

I highly recommend bento boxes. They tend to be small and have sections or trays for dividing up food. I have two that are just perfect - the lower portion holds my 6 oz of lunch, and the upper 2-compartment portion holds some rolled up deli meat and fruit. Got them for about $2 each at Daiso.

I take chewable Centrum recommended by my surgeon. Seems like the easiest option and cheaper than the bariatric pills. I keep wondering if I should take a bariatric vitamin, but the Centrum seems to be fine and it was on the list of options from my surgeon, and he hasn't steered me wrong yet! I also take liquid calcium…

Thanks @cjcarter77! I was completely shocked. It hadn't even occurred to me that maybe I could fit the "normal" section. I started trying on clothes and discovered I'm an XL (started at 3XL, sometimes 4XL). Went to a couple stores before I realized that XL is also in the "normal" section and I wasn't limited to plus…

I bought clothes that weren't from the plus size section! I haven't done that since I was probably 18. Not gonna lie...I almost cried in the store.

How's today going? Here's a little motivation - I got so dehydrated without realizing it that I fainted in the office in front of my co-workers. I highly recommend avoiding that embarrassment. But you know what? I drink a lot more water now.

Thanks @NicoleL874 and @jcavanna2! I will pick up some Hair Anew. I know it's nothing to worry about, and I was adequately warned about it, but being ready for it and it suddenly happening are two different things! I was surprised it seemed to come on so suddenly and so late, I would have thought it would have started…

The wig looks great! Very natural. I would never guess it wasn't your hair! Are you still happy with it? I've suddenly joined you in the hair loss department, and even though I knew it was a possibility, and it will grow back and be just fine, it is FREAKING. ME. OUT. I've always shed a lot of hair but suddenly when I wash…

@jcavanna2 That's beautiful! Good pick and congrats! Also that meal looks amazing! I picked up my 100 lb reward last night, a pendant that matches a ring and earrings I got as a graduation gift years ago.

Figured I'd update so Nicole isn't doing all the work! Guy #2, who we will call Geek Guy, turned out to be AWESOME. Today is a month since our first date and I really have no interest in seeing anyone else right now. We have a lot in common, are on the same page, and can easily talk for hours. It's easy and fun and I'm…

If I saw you in the hat I'd assume you were cold. I think it's adorable!

I hear ya...I'm 92 lbs down but only 2 sizes. Really frustrating. Agree with all the posters about vanity sizing, too. Hang in there, it will change eventually.

I went on a date for the first time in YEARS. Went pretty well, too. I had to buy a new Fitbit with a smaller size band because the old one was pulling apart from me trying to tighten it further. My skinny jeans are now falling off. The surgeon said I'm way ahead of expectations!

This is by far my fav thread on MFP and I'm going through withdrawals without any new postings! So instead of lurking I'll put one up myself. You all (and being 91 lbs down) have inspired me to actually make an effort and put myself out there. So Wednesday I signed up on POF to see what's what. I thought I might get one or…

@Lisidy - Thanks! I used hot rollers for the first time in ages and was shocked it came out so good! Super easy too.

This morning I realized a standard size bath towel actually wraps all the way around me now! It's the little things... I feel so much better about myself these days that I actually screwed up the courage to post a real pic of myself! I've avoid cameras at all costs for years, actually taking pics of myself is a new thing.

It's different for everyone, but I'm very happy with my sleeve. In my case I already have malabsorption issues from gluten intolerance and have chronically low iron, so making those problems worse made no sense for me. The idea of rerouting intestines also just freaks me out. Early on in the surgeon's office I met with the…

Thanks everyone for the advice. I picked a terrible time of year to do this as everyone wants to go out and eat, there's loads of food in the office, etc. So far I've done really well and stuck to the menu from the doctor. Sadly my doctor specifically said soups are out, especially creamy ones as they contain cream/high…

The boxes are entirely fresh produce and proteins and mostly are made up of vegetables. I get the gluten free version so my boxes don't contain most carbs like pasta. Occasionally some rice or rice noodles, but I got those in maybe 3 meals over of 3 months. The highest calorie recipe I've seen was 900 cals (lowest was 350)…

Overall, it was...fine. Just...fine. After spending 20 min trying to park, then another 10 hiking back to the restaurant from the parking space, I obviously was late. So I got the last seat left, next to the loudmouth nosy person I was really hoping to avoid. The waitress was confused by my order of "just the fish" and…

I am a WLS patient but had never seen the show until a few days ago, after my surgery. I had mixed feelings about it. I'm glad I hadn't seen it before, because I would have said to myself "I'm not as bad off as they are, I don't really need the surgery like they do." That may not be logical, but I would have said that and…

I have clavicles! I haven't seen those in more years than I care to remember. Went down a notch on my Fitbit band. This week someone at work who didn't know about the surgery noticed I look thinner, she's the first person to notice! Started exercising this week (am 4 weeks post op) and am already walking faster and for…
