Eating out 3 weeks post-op?
Hi all, I had VSG on 11/14. I'm eating soft foods from a very strict list provided by my nutritionist and I don't want to cheat in any way. At work I've been taking an intense training class, 1 week a month, for three months. Our small class has gotten pretty close. This week is our last week and the instructors want to…

Food Delivery Services?
For months before I even started talking to my VSG surgeon, I was getting Green Chef deliveries, one of those food box subscription services where they send you a box of ingredients with recipes each week. I LOVED it. The food was healthy and tasty and I dropped some weight just from switching to it. Now that I'm…

Gluten free drinks?
I've been GF for 4 years and love it. Recently I joined a fencing club and love that too! After our Thursday session we hit a local bar and have a beer. I struggle every single week with what to order. This place has a huge beer selection but no GF beer. I would normally get Woodchuck (at least it's amber and I can pretend…

Arsenic in Rice
http://www.npr.org/2012/03/02/147781035/high-levels-of-arsenic-found-in-rice This is a link to an NPR story I just heard about levels of arsenic in rice. The rice plant can hold arsenic from the soil and ground pollution, and tiny amounts of it get into our food. They recommend moderation, and since us GF people tend to…

Epidural?
A doctor this morning made a good case for having an epidural to treat low back pain and sciatica. I have 2 herniated discs and from what I can see, I'm in the right group to have good results from this. Has anyone done this? Was it helpful and for how long? I'm really nervous about sticking needles into my spine! Thanks.

What do you do when you're sick?
Normally I cook all my own meals and I try to use only whole foods, minimally processed stuff. But 3 weeks ago I got really really sick with a severe flu, and I didn't have the energy or stamina to cook anything. I went through my emergency frozen GF Amy's meals, but I only had 2 of those to start with. I had a couple GF…

Major setback - feeling so down
I need to vent a bit and I thought if I posted it here, people might understand. I have a bulging disc that causes sciatica throughout my left leg, and it's extremely painful. I started MFP in November in the hopes of taking off some weight, getting regular exercise, and lessening the pain. It's worked great! I've lost 20…

What you love about being GF
It's easy to feel down around the holidays when you're GF - "I can't eat that, or that, or this, or that..." So I want to hear what you love about being GF. How has it made your life better? What are the benefits you've had? For me: - I can't eat all the Christmas snacks in the office so I'm not stuffing my face with junk…

How often do you weigh yourself?
It's day 2 of my new weightloss journey, and I have a very long way to go! I'm wondering how often should I weigh myself? Once a week? Twice a week? Every two weeks? I weighed myself last night to get a starting weight, then just out of curiosity did it again this morning - for a 2.5 lb difference! In 9 hours? That's…

need friends for accountability!
Hi! I'm not really new here, I'm restarting with MFP after a (too-long) hiatus. The first time I used the calorie counter religiously and I learned a lot, but I got away from it because, well, I just got lazy. This time around I'd like to make some friends on the site so I have some accountability. It would be nice to have…
