  • I don't know about the UK, but in the States I eat GF Rice Krispies and Chex has several GF varieties that are tasty. Watch out on generic rice krispies - most are flavored with malt which is gluten. There are also specialty cereals in the organic section but I've never tried those. Bars - look for ThinkThin, they are my…
  • I'm a fan of Bob's Red Mill pizza crust mix myself. It is a lot of work though! But even my gluten friends liked it. Has anybody tried the Godfather's GF pizza? We only have one Godfather's in my whole city, but I just happen to live in their delivery area, so I can actually get hot GF pizza delivered to my door! It's…
  • Oh your post just makes me want to cry, especially since you are so young. I'm really struggling with exercise too due to an injury. How do you exercise when you can barely walk to the kitchen? So I think I understand a tiny bit of what you're going through. There's a lot of different forms of exercise. Things like Zumba…
  • I'm in the same place, major blues due to pain. I know that exercising it will help, but when it hurts to walk from the living room to the kitchen, how do you even think about exercising??
  • Mon lunch - 30 min cardio Mon evening - 1 hr Zumba Tues lunch - 25 min cardio, misc. weights Tues evening - 1 hr Pilates Wed lunch - 30 min cardio Wed evening - 1 hr Aqua Zumba Thurs lunch - 1 hr Zumba, misc. weights Friday lunch - 30 min cardio Friday evening - 1 hr Yoga if I can make it on time or misc. cardio like Dance…
  • That happens all the time. I was at my best friend's wedding, and her whole family is very short, the tallest one of the men is 5'2" I think. I always feel like a giant around them! They were trying to set up the chuppah and I was the only one tall enough to reach the top, so I stood there feeling like an Amazon holding…
  • This isn't totally fair. Yes there are some people like that, but I bring my Kindle and read while on the treadmill. I usually walk 3.0 - 3.5 because that is the level I'm at, and I will sweat too. I do intervals of jogging and when I do, the Kindle is on in front of me but I'm not looking at it. I do no more than 30…
  • Never heard of Moe's or Qdoba but I adore Chipotle. It doesn't have to be terrible on the calories - I get a fajita bowl with half or no rice, no cheese or sour cream, and sometimes guac. Then I eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner. I can fit it into my calorie count that way, and it's way better than anything…
  • I haven't tried Greek yogurt but I do regularly make simple frozen yogurt using nonfat plain yogurt. The only problem is it freezes hard as a rock, so I put in a small dash (maybe a tablespoon) of vodka, and it doesn't freeze so hard. I've read though that Greek works much better.
  • Gluten free too! I even have a head of cauliflower in my fridge that I need to do something with! Thanks!
  • I have a latte or tea and a Think Thin bar. They're gluten free protein bars (20g each) and usually get me through to lunch. And they actually taste good!
  • I don't unless I've been in the pool. I'd rather shower in the comfort of my home. Plus there's re-doing the hair and makeup, that takes time and I don't want to hang out in the locker room that long. Plus I worry about the cleanliness of the Y showers...ew.
  • I sweat it all off and turn horribly red anyway, so it doesn't matter for me. I don't bother anymore. "If you look pretty when you're done, then you didn't do it right."
  • I'll be your friend and supportive. I'm on every day (pretty much) and try to comment frequently.
  • Dear Cole: You have been my best friend for 10 years and I'm quite sure you're the greatest dog on the planet. You're lab side is always happy and reminds me that life is great great great! Your Shar-Pei side is my protector. The gray hairs that are starting to show on your face make me sad, and I would do anything to stop…
  • When I was a kid I in the 80's I was actually stopped on a street in Washington D.C. by someone who thought I was Tina Yothers (Family Ties was popular at the time). Yikes. They were really disappointed when I wasn't her. As a teenager, Heather Graham. I like that one a lot better!
  • I had a couple episodes of real severe vertigo but it was so rare I never connected it to gluten! Now that I think about it, it hasn't happened since going GF. There's yet another reason to love GF!

  • I'm 5'10" and been told that too - I always figured I'm just dense somehow! :) I have 100+ to lose, add me if you want!
  • Ah yes, the veggie platter. We're good friends. :)
  • It's so disappointing to hear that your sister who has kids with allergies treated you that way. She of all people really should know better. I'm with you, you can't expect anyone else to make accomodations for you so I bring all my own food too. Sometimes it makes people feel bad, but I would rather hurt their feelings a…
  • First I will usually start coughing violently for no apparent reason, usually while I'm still eating whatever it is. Luckily this keeps me from ingesting any more of it. I have the digestive issues as well as crippling arthritis in my hands. The arthritis is what made me start investigating this, as I think I had the…
  • $2.5 million...OK it was for work but the envelope was addressed to me. :)
  • Obviously you're not in the US. :) It's the third Thursday of every November, and it's a holiday for families to get together and give thanks for everything they have, and most of all, EAT. Thanksgiving is ALL about the food. Traditionally you have turkey, grean bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, cranberry sauce,…
  • Slow cooker turkey breast roasted brussell sprouts acorn squash with apricot preserves cranberry sauce GF pumpkin cheesecake And for my mother only (who is the pickiest eater I have ever seen), crescent rolls and potatoes au gratin. There's only 3 in my family, so we don't need to make a whole lot of food.
  • This is my fav site for GF recipes: http://allrecipes.com/recipes/healthy-recipes/gluten-free/main.aspx There's also a ton of info out there for GF eating, so much that it's overwhelming. I joined my local Celiac Sprue support group, and they forward all the promotions and stuff directly to me. Check out Living Without,…
  • I have Celiac disease and can't have gluten, so I will have to follow what is basically a low-carb diet the rest of my life. I don't seek out carbs or grains, but I don't avoid them either (other than evil, poison gluten). I have no problem having a serving of rice of quinoa. But this is rare and overall, my carb intake is…
