On days I felt like that, I would go for a long walk and mix in some running. Always felt better after that.

I'm 38yrs old and grew up with dogs my whole life so I speak from exp. Personally I wouldnt get a rescue with any child unless the rescue is very young, like under 6 months and even then you might be taking a chance. You never really know the back round of a rescue. I'm not saying I'm against rescues, but dont recommend it…

It gets easier but you do have to push yourself a bit. I started running last week of Aug and could barely run 2 min without feeling like I was dying Within about 4-5 weeks I could do a 5K. I would set a new challenge for myself every 4-5 days to run a new personal best distance wise and before I knew it 1 block turned it…

once a week first thing in the morning

Sat is my cheat day normally, so I have decided I will use Turkey Day as my cheat day that week and will treat my normal cheat day as a regular day.
-
Thats pretty much what I do. If MFP or my Nike running app say I burnt 550 calories I will put it in as 400-425. Also I have been eating back most of those calories daily or close to it. I'm going to get a heart rate monitor very soon.
-
Exactly my thought. So should I be eating back the calories I burn every day working out?
-
I havent been weighing and measuring anything. I have never done it since I started and I havent changed anything food wise. Havent measured, but my new size 34 pants I bought about 8 weeks ago are feeling somewhat looser, not much but noticeable. Thanks for the words of encouragement, just really fustrated.

Well weigh in day was today, and I'm again exactly the same as last week to the ounce!!! What gives???? MFP says i should eat 1610 calories per day. Now lets say I burn 400 calories working out in a day, should I be eating those 400 calories I burned also? Thats what I have been trying to do from what I have read on here.…

Congrats on the 5K. My wife and I also just started running late August. We can do a 5K in about 29 minutes and we have done a 10k in 59.31 that included walking 1/2 mile half way through. I'm 38, male, at 222lbs.

Glad to hear, I felt like a total newb at the gym today while hitting the bench press and other presses. I couldnt lift the bar up straight, if I didnt have the pins on the bar the plates would have fell off, lol.

lol, true

Well I'm 38 so in that range. Hopefully I'm on the rite path to prevent it.

Just started whey protein in the last 2 weeks. I drink a 8oz shake for breakfast and one after either cardio or the gym.
-
I was doing cardio 6 days a week for between 45-90 min a day. Now that I joined a gym I'm doing cardio every other day for about the same time, and about 60 min at the gym on days i dont do cardio.

Anyone else care to chime in
-
Also if it is a plateau, how do you work thru that? This site has been real informative from things i have read. I understand from reading on here my lean muscle is probably suffering from all the cardio, hence the reason i joined the gym last week.

Thanks for the responses so far. @ Alpine from what I have read and people have told me, quitting smoking slows your metabolism down, hence the weight gain when you quit plus the snacking. @ Gabbygirl No munching at all, besides fruit. But i was doing that before i quit smoking. @ Wnbrice Adjusted my calories per my new…

So just a little update from original post. I weigh in every Wed and yesterday I came in 1lb heavier than the prior week and that was with running 7 days in a row. Yesterday I ate about 200 calories over my daily calorie count per MFP and did absolutely nothing cardio at all yesterday. Got on the scale this morning for…

I wouldnt worry about it, I have a cheat day every Saturday and have done so since I started MFP 7 months ago. I have consumed over 4000 calories between eating and drinking on a Saturday and still lost my normal 2-4lbs before I plateaued recently.

Glad I found this thread, as Kindeo said thanks for starting it. I'm also looking for some advice. I started walking about 7 months ago to lose weight, and with the help of my wife started running Aug 28th or rite around then. I was a smoker (20yrs) when I started running and I could barely run 1 minute without feeling…

So increasing my calorie intake slowly is what a couple of you recommend. Do you recommend doing that with protein shakes? If not what do you recommend I should eat, more fruit, more meals per day?? Sorry for the questions but I am a newb at this. Listing what a normal day consists of for me., for the last 7 months 6am…
