  • I regulary do Plyo and HIIT circuits at the gym. I run 2-3x a week usually and managed to train for a HM in a short space of time, which I put down to the benefits of polyo/strength circuits... I definitely felt stronger anyway. Great post :)
  • I'm in a similiar situation atm, I completed my first HM last month with a time of 2 hours, 11 mins and want to sign-up to another HM taking place in September and aim for sub 2 hours. I currently only run 3x per week, so I think I will add in another day and increase my mileage (going off the comments here). When…
  • I'm in for 60 miles! I would like to say 100 but given that I currently only run roughly 10 miles per week, that's probably a little bit ambitious! :D
  • Thanks for the advice guys :) I completed the race with a time of 56:44. I only managed a few easy runs prior to race day as it took me longer than I thought to recover from the HM.
  • Thanks for your replies! Yes, you're right I guess there's not much I can do to improve at this stage so I will focus on being fully rested for the race. Although I would be happy placing somewhere in between those two times :)
  • I completed my first half marathon last week with a time of 2 hours, 11 mins. Happy with that result considering it was my first ever race and I only had 8 weeks to train :) I'm looking forward to improving my running and taking part in more races!
  • For my lunch & dinner meals, I usually eat this way (Strange but I actually prefer my food plain). Tuna, sweet potato & veg is my favourite and I never add anything to it. I always feel satisfied after eating a meal like this (although I think that's more down to a good combo of protein and carbs. For breakfast I usually…
  • This is super helpful, thanks so much! I will try this out for the next two weeks and see how I get on. I think it will definitely help with my performance in the gym :)
  • Thanks for your reply. I will book a doctors appointment this week, just to be on the safe side! Do you have any useful articles/links with more info ref diet breaks? - do you think they help you lose more in the long run, or is it more of a mental break from dieting? I think a week of eating at maintenance would be good…
  • Hi :) I was wondering if you could help me shed some light on this... Firstly, I'm 5'8.5 and currently weigh 162 pounds. I've been dieting/training consistently for about 16 weeks now and have lost just over 30 pounds in that time (I started at 196pounds). Training 5x a week (combo of lifting, HIIT & running). I eat 1600…
  • I agree with the above, it probably is just your mind convincing you that you need more. Try eating more slowly/mindfully, add more high-volume foods to your meals (lots of veg, salad etc). I sometimes find adding beans or chickpeas helps to keep me full for a lot longer. Do you drink green tea? If I'm in the mindset of…
  • ^^ To add to this, I recently used fat calipers and found that my bodyfat is currently at 28% (which is surprisingly lower than I thought). So my aim is now to get to 20-22% and approx 140-150lbs. Thanks :)
  • Thanks for your reply :) In the last 4 weeks – based on weekly average my macros have been: 20/3/15 – C: 86g P: 69g F: 33g 182lbs 27/3/15 – C: 95g P: 85g F: 36g 180lbs 3/4/15 – C: 116g P: 86g F: 41g 176lbs 10/4/15 – C: 139g P: 103g F: 42g 175lbs As you can see I have been increasing each week. (I've never looked at it from…
  • Hi Guys, I've just joined this group and love all of the helpful tips so far :) I’m currently on my 9th week of training. Before this I was eating completely unhealthy with no exercise, and now I mainly eat natural/unprocessed foods. I was under eating at first (averaging 9-1000 a day – bad, I know) but for the past 3…
  • Thank you :) yeh I will definitely change if I need to. Thinking of giving t a good go for a few weeks an then ill consider what improvements I can make
  • Surprisingly I have more energy and feel better. (Odd I know).
  • I love that you said this because he same thing happened to me. Only thing is I got stressed from it that I ended up binging and gaining a ton. Now am working on eating whatever in a cal range and I'm happier. :)
  • I totally get what you mean. I went from under-eating to binging so this feels good to just focus on one meal a day and I'm not hungry every minute this way. :)
  • Yeh, at the min I have probably only been eating half the calories I should because it's one meal. Maybe if I add in two or a shake or something alongside it?
  • Thanks for your reply. So say I ate between 4pm-8pm? My only concern for this would be incase I just ate too much during that time lol.
  • I forgot to add - I'm in college so I'm not up at typical times, which is another reason I like it. I don't have the breakfast, lunch, dinner structure ATM
