dont be afraid! Read the book...The New Rules of Lifting by Lou Schuler. It is awesome!

Mostly weights, less cardio. Cardio burns muscle. IMHO, you should only do HIIT when u do cardio. It has been proven over and again that weight lifting burns more calories for a longer time after u finish cardio. Unless u r training for marathons...lifting is the way to go.

I started April 22, 2013. Today I logged 150 days. I have lost 26 lbs. I am 5'4". I started at 260 and my goal is 150. I look great at 170 but am shooting for 150. I have dieted all my life but this time I am doing it healthy. I don't starve myself. Just don't do it. It isn't worth it. I do the calories that MFP recommends…

THIS!!!!!!

I did the same thing when I first started and actually gained the first month. Then I listened to my husband who lifts weights and my MFP friends and started eating more. I follow exactly what MFP recommends and it is coming off slowly like it should. 18 weeks 20 pounds. 1 pound a week is the way to go. I eat 6 small meals…

Basically when I am in a hurry I grab the shake because it has EVERYTHING in it that you need. It is also a great pre or post workout shake. Not quite as high in the protein as the whey but very close. I tried this because a nutritionist AND my physical trainer use it.

THIS!!!! I drink it all the time. I haven't tried the vanilla but love the chocolate. I fill my cup with ice before I go to the gym and them add the water and powder for the drive home. It did take me a little bit to get used to the texture but it is absolutely the best thing in the world. Keeps you regular and full of…

You ROCK! I am so proud for you!

Dont feel attacked. Some people just sound harsh. I have dieted all my life and I am 45. It is in the past 90 days that I have learned by a lot of reading that I need to exercise to eat and eat to live. I am shooting for one lb lost per week. If it comes off slowly it will stay off. This is a life change for me. I will eat…

I like open diaries. I want the accountability. I log every thing I put in my mouth. Plus, I have a few physical trainers that check on me periodically that I appreciate comments from. Also, those who have been successful have given me tips that really helps. I prefer friends with open diaries.
-
Good for you! I am also a cancer survivor and that is exactly why I started my weight loss and healthy lifestyle journey! May God help us both as we continue.
-
Mine is public. I want friends with open ACTIVE diaries. I log everything I put into my mouth. The good, the bad and the ugly. It is my way of doing this right this time! THIS is a lifestyle not a diet for me!

FALSE! I've never kissed a stranger.

True. I've never been to Maine.

True. I have never jumped out of a plane.

I have to agree with pjp. If you seem frustrated then you will get encouraging words.

We use two kinds in our house. I use Garden of Life Raw meal because I am a cancer survivor and do not want all the soy or preservatives. Plus, whey makes me nauseous. GOF is completely organic, GMO and just a perfect food, 34 grams of protein per two scoops, all plant derived. My husband and son use Optimum Nutrition Gold…

I find this to be silly. Post the website or where you can prove this to be true and I will believe.
-
Yes. Absolutely. It is silly not to. I drink a gallon of water a day and all of it is pure water except for the water in my protein drink after workout. I absolutely count it. I wouldn't count it in tea or coffee because of the sugar and caffeine. I look at it this way. If there is something in the drink that counteracts…

It is interesting that when I started lifting weights my libido sky-rocketed which my husband loved. I can't tell you how crazy that was. I felt like a teenage boy. Now that things have calmed down and my body is out of shock we are at 2 to 3x a week. We are both happy with that and have a great marriage. Have any other…

Yes! Just based on what is in soda is what made me quit. Breast cancer changed my life and now I eat to live. My new motto is exercise to eat, eat to live. I do have a diet soda if I am craving one but very limited like once a month. Read about sodas.....really!

Six weeks after I started MFP and exercising four days a week my period didnt come. It was just like I just skipped a month. Then the next one came 10 days early. Been on track since then. So be patient with your body. But if it doesn't come dont wait more than 3 months to go to doctor.
-
Agree! Eat more calories and get a personal trainer to teach you how to lift weights correctly. You could hurt yourself if you aren't careful. I also eat 40/30/30.

I have the FT7 and absolutely love it. I don't know about the FT4 but they are close in price so get the updated one. It is so easy to use and I don't even think about it being on my body when I am lifting weights or doing cardio. It stays in place and I love the accuracy. I say DO IT! Remember to wet the plastic part of…

You are an inspiration. I am so proud of you!

THIS is what does it for me. I am going to live longer...that's what's important!
