  • I had one and they provide motivation. I want my flower to grow! One charge lasts about 2 weeks and wireless. Syncing.is good. Links directly to MFP, if you add exercises. You need to be accurate with timing, otherwise. It "double dips". Only criticism is the bracket/belt clip breaks easily and they are easily lost! I have…
  • The Body Fat Monitor varies from type to type. The ones on the feet are different to the ones that you hold in your hands. They are dependent on the amount of water / fat etc in your body, body type and how dry your skin is. Use them for comparision purposes only to track loss. It should be about becoming healthy. Hope…
  • Hi, I am an Englishman in "New York" ermm... Scotland. Please feel free to add me. I cycle 2 - 3 times a week to work - not sure if it is enjoyable and try to "run" 2/3 times a week, more like a fast walk. All the Best
  • I couldn't agree more - what's are these lies? I am away outside to look for BIGFOOT riding on the LOCH NESS MONSTER. Thanks goodness. LOL
  • I rarely strecth before a run or cycle unless it is a race or more competiive. I will then do a warm up and some stretching. I stretch during a run when the muscle feels tight and only a few extensions. I sometimes stretch on completion of a long run (over 5km) but only for a few minutes. I should do more, I am not…
  • You should try and go to a specialist running shop and they will do a "gait" analysis. They would also recommend the type of shoe to go for. Advice them of your budget. Often you can get a similar pair to the ones recommended on sale. I suppose you could then go online and see if you can get them cheaper - but unlikely. I…
  • Another method now being used is the hip to waist ratio measurement. You are at risk (apple shape) if this ratio W/H >0.95 Men or 0.85 for Woman. My BMI is 35.0, My Body Fat is 36.9% but my Waist to Hip Ratio is 1.02. OK this is not below 0.95, but indicates that I am in better shape than the weight to Height Ratio (BMI)…
  • it was a Flesh eating vegetarian which was always hungry!
  • It encourages you to do a little bit more than you did the day before. It weighs 0.4 oz (10g) and can be clipped to you belt. It allows your steps to be recorded and flights of stairs to be counted. He even monitors how well you sleep. I have had mine for 3 weeks now and I make sure I wear it all the time. Some people may…
  • I forgot about vinyl cd's - 16 1/2, 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM.
  • In the UK, we had two channels and it was Black and White. Now there are 100's of channels and all showing same old re-runs. In fact we didn't have repeats, this was first time round!!. Outside toilet and a tin bath in front of the fire. The Telephone line was a shared part line, and fuel was less than 10pence (15c) a…
  • Hi I am looking to lose 60lbs plus. Currently 15 since start of year (the easy ones!) Please free to add me. Likewise, anyone else can add me All the best
  • I suffered from these when 1st running and still do occasionaly when I extend my stride beyond my normal range. Best thing is to try and rest, which must be difficult with six weeks to go. I find that sitting with a straight leg (unsupported calf), point your toes away from your leg and stretch slowly and hold. Release and…
  • www.mapmyrun.com as a GPS/Android app. It doesn't "level UP" but it if free and provides a good record of your workouts.

  • I can run an half marathon in 150 mins, 13.1 miles in 2.5 hours = 5.24 mph. My fastest speed for 10k (6 miles) = 55 min = 6.6 mph This is not a fast speed. In the region of 10-12 mins per mile. I have friends who can complete a half marathon in 110 mins = 7.5 mph. You need speed and endurance. I am trying to improve my…
  • I agree, the limits are for added sugar, so you should discount the sugar in fruit, milk etc. However, you should limit yourself to two pieces of fruit a day and make up your "5-a-day" with vegetables. I track my sugar because I am "diet controlled" diabetic Type II and it is very difficult to keep within the MFP limit.
  • I am from the cold North of Scotland where the temptations include Deep Fried Mars Bar (yuck!) I am currently at 267 lbs but was down to 240 lbs - 18 months ago. I took my eye off recording my food, checking my weight and doing the correct excercise because I got bored and demotivated after 3 years of running. (completing…
  • First thoughts is are you are drinking enough water (This includes water, tea, coffee, soda etc.)? Sodium (Salt) and other nutrients are water soluble and are carried around the body in the bloodstream. I tend to take a little too much salt, however, I normally have 1.5 - 2 litres of water a day, which takes any excess…
  • My is Open. I know I am stating the the obvious. "It works when you record everything. Doesn't if you don't" All the best Steve
  • Hi, I am in Scotland. Add me if you want. Steve
  • I had lost a total of 22lbs by the begiining of June through excercise and using this site. I got an hamstring which limited my options (prefer running), plans for doing a half marathon went out the window due to changes in job location. I completed the half marathon about 4 weeks ago and did very little excercise since…
  • A 4 hour session in the gym would equate to 12 miles. Are you sure you only did 3.5 miles? Take your time building up your endurance, start at 10 mins, then build up and increase your stamina. Do this 2 - 3 times a week. You can then increase the speed afterwards, but slowly does it. Injuring yourself will not help your…
  • If you can workout outside, set yourself a goal to run in one direction for 20 minutes. It will take 20 minutes to get back. Increase distance as stamina increased. I know it is stating the obvious, but you get fresh air and a change of scenery.
  • Nothing does the job like a band aid or plaster! I get this problem when I sweat too much. To remove, take a shower, especially if you are hairy! You can use antiseptic cream to treat and sooth the condition. You can also get "nipple guards" which fit over, however, they are not very sticky and you need a plaster to hold…
  • Your maximum heart rate is about 220 minus your age. Workout range - 55-70% approx is weight loss range 70-85% approx is cardiovascular range Start at up to 50% and build up, aim for 75% and towards 85% as get fitter. Above 85% does help increase fitness much. Stamina just involves working at a comfortable rate and…
